Landrace Genetics 101

I'm actually quite excited about this grow. I will probably do a fairly detailed account as I am hoping to prove my theory that the plants with vulx will do better than those without. I'm hoping that will be evident in overall plant size, yield size, and bud potency. I know it wont be like my first journal... I actually have a little experience and first hand knowledge this time.

sounds interesting to me I would like to see if theres a difference to that should be a good show!

Oh BTW, a newbie question for you landrace guys. 1977 Maui Wowie. That would be the actual cultivar right? That would be a cut from a 77' Maui Wowie that is still going and used for seed production. Am I correct in this assumption??
It's possible, but more than likely, they have been reproducing and working the line over the years without mixing any outside genetics in.

Ci sono alcuni afgani dalle dita sottili, ma dovrebbero essere molto rari. Penserei che sia più probabile, che ci sia un mix di genetica moderna.

Piante dall'aspetto molto bello.

Può essere, non ho idea se anche in Afghanistan siano state introdotte genetiche olandesi come in Messico, Giamaica o quasi tutti gli altri paesi produttori di hashish e ganjah ...
I can no longer contact those who gave me the seeds, labeling them as Afghani, but I know they can come from or around Kabul or Herat, and I'm pretty sure they weren't bred here in Europe ...
Temo piuttosto che contengano geni di cannabis selvatica, che cresce in molti luoghi dell'Afghanistan ...

If those are pure Afghani with narrow leaves, that's something you'll want to hold onto. From what I've read, the really good ones that got used back when they first started getting importing were the narrow leaved ones.

Se quelli sono afghani puri con foglie strette, è qualcosa su cui vorrai tenerti. Da quello che ho letto, quelli veramente buoni che si sono abituati quando hanno iniziato a importare erano quelli a foglie strette.

It would be nice, but I don't think, they are not heirloom of the 60s, but of 2003.... ....

I'm starting my second generation of Lebanese plants. Not to sell or keep as breeding stock but because I like the smoke!
I'm sure some will condemn me but whatever. I grew two ace Lebanese plants and had a weird power outage and a screwed up lighting error on my first grow? They didn't throw naners but created pollen sacks down on the lower internodes and fertilized each other. One was a red stem pheno with an outstanding 4, hour high. Not stoney or sleepy but fuxked up. The other was a bigger plant and had More cbd and was a short weak high with some wake up terpene.
I picked seeds from the red stem plant and chose the tallest germinated seed kings hoping they were crossed with the more vigorous plant.
Hoping to get them growing faster I did a foliar spray with bigbloom last night. These plants are on 12\12 as my timer works from the veg room and bloom . room. The weird things that the plant I sprayed had preflowers on it tonight. My bubba hash plant did the same thing. The day after I sprayed it withbigbloom the preflower popped out.

I think we have all dealt with power outages and such theres always going to be something good luck with your lebbys man!

speaking of Durban. I have definitely become interested in landrace strains and want to try it someday, but I have heard most Durban isnt the real deal or was outcrossed with other genetics. Do any of you guys have or know of a source of legit Durban? eventually Id like to try it as I heard the real thing is pretty zippy and uplifting. Good for band practice. :tommy: Thanks all.

I think @BigSur has a notion of the authenticity (or lack thereof) of commercially available Durban seeds.
@Lerugged is growing the real deal.

I love landraces, nonetheless, there's several great upper modern strains. Whole threads on 420 devoted to the topic.

And one can always harvest a bit early for more pep & zip & less couchlock.

Grow on!

Go with Seeds of Africa or wait until @Lerugged releases his old line of DP.
