Landrace Durban Poison Outdoor Grow

Hi all
New member here. Been growing about 25 years now for medical purposes.

About the plants:
Both are pure Durban poison goodness.
Seeds were left for me by a relative along with strains collected all over Africa in the 40's and 50's.
Plant one is a monster crop from last year's harvest rooted and kept healthy over winter under cfl's. I was away and they were put outside too early so they flowered and have finally gone back into veg. With another month and a half before stretch and finally.flowering.

Plant two is a DP collected from super rural Natal from growers where the strain has remained untainted. Grown from seed on Oct 1 and transplanted into 3/4 wine barrel with about 180lt soil amended with perlite, compost, bonemeal and vermiculite.

Looking good, I had no clue people were collecting cannabis seed in the 40's and 50's. I always thought they started collecting and saving seeds more towards the 70's. I guess we learn something new everyday!!

I guess he maybe saw the value of ladrace genetics in African sativa. For my medicine I need mostly THCV so there rare seeds are rich in it thanks to the African sun.

Things are speeding up the last two days with some strong new growth and secondary branching on the big lady. Will be tying her down and opening her up tomorrow.
The monster cropped Durban got a little nute burn when I switched to an orchid fert. Tsk tsk I should've just waited until I could find the bat guano I was using. Flushed her earlier so that should stop it.
Other than that lots of sun forecast for the next week or so. Temps upper 20's.

That's super unfortunate. Cape Town is currently having a spectacular summer.
Hoping the roots will have enough space. I usually grow in the ground so the idea was to give her as much space as possible while being realistic as to what I could move upstairs onto the sundeck. Currently they are getting about 14 hours direct sunlight. These wild sativas seem to handle very high temps with very little problem although I can see a difference between the ground and barrels.

Could anyone advise me what the signs of wind burn and heat stress might be? Had a few days of very strong wind(58km/h) and temperatures over 30degrees. Besides the obvious signs of leaves whipped up and damaged there seems to be a bit of yellowing of older fan leaves. New growth is green andthere healthy though. I have made a support and the plant is secure now.

Question is: is yellowing of older leaves a symptom of heat stress and wind stress?
I'm thinking heat may not be such an issue as these landrace genetics are specifically geared towards flourishing is extremely hot and humid environment.

Second question
Could the plant just be dropping the older growth as all the good new branches coming from those nodes have at least two or three fan leaves of their own and maybe the older ones are not needed as much?

Could be that my thinking is absolute rubbish and I'm happy for anyone to say so as long as you can tell me where I'm going off the track.

Some information about the Monster Crop:
So the pics start from rooting a flowering cutting. Then over wintered in a cheap converted camping cupboard with 3 x 45w cfl's . I have very little experience growing indoors.
Was away and people house sitting put them out earlier before I could sync the indoor lighting to outside schedule. Anyways she pretty much went into flower pretty far along. It's taken since October to get her back into full veg and I still have another month and a bit of stretch. She can get quite large in the ground and I'm usually getting 600g to 800g off each. She is a 100% pure Durban poison from the natal area.
Anyways So I feel I have managed to get her to veg in time although I would have preferred it was a month or two earlier.
So that's the story. Will Keep this up to date and through until final weight.

Yeah I have heard it's super difficult to get hold of the original or even something close to the original these days and just about all outdoor is swaz that side. Cape Town I come across some Malawi occasionally although I could grow some out but mostly really kak swaz Here too.
I wish I could flood the old pure sativa back in SA so more people could experience them as for me they are completely different to what is available today.

Hi Lerugged, Looks like you may be getting low nitrogen from your description. I can't see by the pic's. Click the Problem solver on my sig page and read if it's the right symptoms. It's the first one.

I've not seen that when at this stage. Only late in flower.

Thanks for the response. Gave her a dose of guano and it did the trick. She seems to be a heavy feeder so probably another dose next week and then flower nutrients.

Hi all.
Update on the big lady. She has recovered from the wind lashing from last week and has some awesome growth happening. She will be trained and tied one more time with a clean up in that bottom area. The Monster Crop (1st pic)has responded as expected after the clean up a few days ago and colour has returned to a healthy green. A pic of table mountain just because. The rest are the big lady. Happy days to all.

Good day to all
Not too much exciting news at the moment. The monster crop has been tied down again and the pot rotated to get some sun in the middle under developed branches. Other than that all good. The big girl has been tied down again and for the last time hopefully. I find that tying down tightly during the time the trunk and branches start to thicken really makes for some stocky branches. Maybe it's the stress on the branch that does a kinda super crop or something? Hah. Either way it works for me. Had stunning weather this week with a couple days around 36 -38degrees c and both seem to be loving it. Monster Crop first then the big lady. Have a spectacular weekend all.
