Skunk x Candida sounds interesting. Would love to hear how that turns out if you get a male! I would have liked to have kept one of my males for a little experimental fun, but I had nowhere to put him. Quarantine area needs to be on the list when I have a little more room.

Good morning, all!

Appointment with my MS neurologist today. We'll talk about all kinds of things, as usual, but I'll really be thinking about harvest time of Candy and Betty. :winkyface: I don't want to add more meds until I have a chance to get some real cannabinoids in my system.

Here is my 1st Hempy bucket that I started yesterday with Northern Lights #1 (2nd round)

Well Scorpio, hempy is a simplified hydro method that uses perlite as the medium. Each bucket has a hole drilled at about 1.5-2" from the bottom to create a reservoir for the roots to draw from. The perlite wicks water efficiently, making it easy to maintain root hydration and nutritional feeding.

It's one of the easiest methods going IMO. I can easily get the same two ounces from a hempy that I've been getting from a soil plant, with much less aggravation and much more ease of handling. A hempy pot weighs significantly less than a pot of soil. :laughtwo:

The choice of container is a personal matter. I have a couple of those trash cans in black, one all ready to go. I keep forgetting I have it set up already. Lol! I'll have to make it a point to plant in that one next.

Now I was reading a mix of Perlite and Vermeculite... is that what you use?

How do ya keep the plants standing Up in it?

So then use the Hydro schedule for the Nutes?

I may try this since I go thru a LOT of Dirt and will need more soon

The original developer of this technique used all vermiculite, if memory serves. AKgramma runs her hempies with a mix of perlite and vermiculite. It's much dryer in Alaska than it is on the banks of the Mighty Mon, so I use perlite only, as does Tead, living in the swamplands of NOLA.

I start my seeds in Rapid Rooters, turned upside down for stability. As soon as they sprout I plant them in the hempy pot. They stand because the roots wrap themselves around the individual pieces of perlite.

I wasn't even aware there was a hydro schedule for the nutes. :laughtwo: That shows you how myopic I can be. I've never really studied nutrients. I follow the general guidelines on the bottle and don't bother with PPm. The Grow Better nutes I'm using don't require pH adjustment either, making this sooooo easy I'm always tempted to throw the whole garden into hempy Heaven.

I may do that in the end, if my yields continue to be consistent. Hempy is much easier to live with than soil.

Was reading about transplanting from dirt to Hempy, I may try that with my 1gal Girls, well 1 anyways

Great Info Sue, I need more Perlite, seems Ill be getting Vermiculite also since I dont have Humidity here on the surface of the sun:thumb:

My bucket is all perlite because my humidity is high in the basement environment. Scorpio, I wondered about the plant standing up too but there seems to be no issues at all. The perlite is pretty sturdy once wet.

Im heading to store later, gunna try this out. Ill take at least 1 from my 1gal pots into a Hempy pot to try it out

Ill need ta figure out the watering schedule and Nuts, but thats part of the fun:high-five:

My current nutes are following the GH DTW feeding schedule

No problems so far

Im using Fox Farms, probobly stick with it at 1st, then maybe change down the road a bit

It is fun! I'm really curious to see how the hempy turn out, because this may be the best growing solution for my current needs.....Can deal with higher humidity, lower maintenance, and no power needed. Aero is something I would love to try, but the outlets in this old house are prone to be loose. And you're just asking for trouble if you have to use an adapter for a 3 prong plug. It leans from the outlet precariously. :yikes:

If you want to see what hempy can do look at Shaggns first couple of journals. Hempy plus a perfect manifold produced really amazing plants. .

Grow related thought of the day:

Wishing I had kept one of my males so I could make seeds. All of these open areas around town that are under construction and somewhat weedy anyway are just crying for protest plants.
