Kushtie - Multiple Strains - 600W HPS & NFT

looking good ,

i had a total disaster with my out door ones , 3 have been blown over and killed , flash floods and heavy gusts did the damage , was my biggest 3 at that ( shit happens )

Nightmare mate. Got any to replace them with? Noticed my biggest ones outdoors looking a bit windswept too so am gathering stuff to take out but am trying to avoid taking large objects like long canes for a walk through the woods as there's always a risk I'll bump into someone and most folk like to stop for a chat.

Am thinking I'll look for a net with big holes and thin string that I can put over them and peg down around. Should be able to find some sticks near the site to cobble some sort of frame together but unless it's windy it's a midge infested hell hole I don't want to hang around in so we'll have to wait and see on that one.

Been thinking all day about what you could do for some natural protection and the only thing I can think of is mounding up some soil in a rim around the plants. Might help as a bit of a wind break.

Rain... Another beast all together. Hmm

Aye, could build a wee dyke while I make a clearing through the grass and heather. I figure if there's no vegetation for the slugs to hide in the ones in pots might stand a better chance of avoiding slugs so I want to make a few clear patches of ground. That and I want to dig a bed out to fill with good soil for next year but that can wait until this year's growing season is over.

Other than bringing the slugs out I don't think rain has been a problem whilst they are still in veg. Bloom could be interesting though.....might just have to stand out there with an umbrella over them! :)

Sticks and wire man it's your friend i had a plant split right in two before. Ended up being a 250g gift from the ganja gods

Aye, there will be some of that going on although I'm hoping the photo ones get big enough to justify putting a net over rather than trying to support individual branches with wire. I want them taller than me and well bushy......something like what Cola Monster grows would be just lovely lol:laughtwo:

Sorry to hear about your plants nutty. We all live and learn. Next time create a frame or use some canes so that if you get wind again then it should offer some support.

Kushtie - canes are easy to transport without being seen. Cut them 1st into smaller lengths then bag them. When you get to the site then tape them together with some gaffa/duct tape. You may need to use part of a cane along the join as a type of splint and tape that to it as well. That will give it some extra support. If you dont want to cut them then go first thing in the morning or last thing at night, reduces the chances of bumping into anyone you may know. You can get pea netting from tesco (has large enough holes) and twine wire from pounland/pounstretcher (or any pound type store).

As for waiting till this grow finishes before setting up for next year i would make a start on it as soon as you can. It means that once it is done you can leave it over winter so it ready for next year. I want to rip up some of the long grass where i am growing so it just soil sitting there. Gonna turn it over and then ass some compost on top and give it a good mix. Leave it for a wee while then cover with black bags so the soil stays warm and stops any vegitation growing up through it. Not sure how big i will make it but will be plenty big enough. Will then cut out a dyke around the perimiter and fill with slug pellets so they wont get past that barrier. Also means that they easy enough to replace and only need a light sprinkling around the rest of the area (deals with any rougue slugs). Am hoping the mrs agrees to me growing next year and will veg seeds indoors but will grow in smaller pots (3" or so) and plant outdoors end of april/beginning of may. The seedlings will be around 6" tall making transporting them a lot easier. Will also cover with cloches to start with adding to protection from possible cold snaps/frost and should offer a bit more protection from those fecking slugs. Next years grow will be a lot better.

Have been considering getting a cheap festival type tent and using the poles but unfortunately first thing in the morning and last thing at night there's still a high chance of bumping into people. It was near 9pm when I got back to the car this evening and I still bumped into someone just setting out. Last time I went late I had to walk past a couple having a lie down in some long grass at the side of track lol.

Sunday morning seems to be a good time to brass neck it, ideally when it's pishing doon :)

No worries there bud, I'll be on it as soon as I get a chance. I want to have everything setup well before spring so I don't have to take water to wet the soil I'll have to take out. Beginning of May was too early for my first lot of outside autos to do much growing....a month later seems to be much better for them.

My guess is the middle one ;)
I don't think I'm to big on fan of the random seed packs. First pack I got was the sweet seeds ~sweet mix more runts then descent ones. Second packs grass-o-matic random seeds packs so far I've done two seeds and one of them os a runt and one isn't to bad i guess considered i reused soil for em. Bit of ph problems for both but they're gonna make it harvest rough guess is gonna be an oz from both the runt is about 10cm tall

It was the 3rd pic that was the soil one....much smaller and fluffier buds than the other 2 but that's possibly down to it being an auto and I hear 12/12 can cause a lot of them to just grow fluffy buds. Frosting up nicely now though :)

The mix seeds are just freebies I got with ones I ordered from ShortStuff. Most of them were put out in the cold in May then eaten by slugs in June so I'm not making any direct comparisons between those and ones I grew indoors in hydro........it's not a fair fight! :)

Gonna get in and do some pics of the indoor ones. Got pics of the outdoor ones again today but feel we're due an update on the indoor ones first.....

A quick couple of shots of the indoor ones.....

Mothers Finest at the bottom of pic and Violator Kush under the light with the wee soil auto hidden at the back:

And from the other side:

The buds that were closer to the light have either been tied back, fallen over a bit or been chopped off if they were frazzled.

Hopefully just a couple of week from harvest on those. Certainly not the neatest or prettiest of grows but hopefully it'll do the job as it's frosty, sticky and getting stinkier each day :)

And some of the outdoor ones.

The autos that went out in May...

The 2 on the right of the above pic are showing preflowers. Of the 2 on the left the shitty wee yellow one looks like it's a bit further into flowering than the others from the mix pack in the other pot and the Super Cali Haze looks like it's starting to pick up the pace and is still in veg.

Younger auto (Russian Rocket Fuel) in between a couple of Mothers Finest clones:

mud1507-3.jpg

Some minor slug damage on the clones but thankfully the auto has been ok so far as that's the last of the ones from the last batch. Fecking slugs ate the other two!

MF clone in the ground doesn't seem to be doing so well.....

.....gave the ground around it a good feeding with Ionic Hydro Grow mixed with tap water to see if that helps raise the pH a bit and add some nutrients into the peat.

If you want a decent seedbank spart then listen to others on here. We all have our favourite. I go with attitude seedbank. Usually it gets delivered the next day, signature required and you get free seeds. Have had 100% success rate with germination and so far all fem seeds have been fem.

Your plants are looking good kushtie. Be good to see what you get from the violater kush. May take some of that from you once it been cured. The one in the ground looks like it lacking in nutes - possibly nitrogen. The nutes you added should get that back on track. Thought you were gonna put all the outdoor ones in the ground?

Best to keep all your trim in a paper bag in the freezer that way when you come to use it then it still fresh, or if someones takes it off your hands it still fresh for them.

Personally i don't go to seed banks if i want some seeds i go directly to the source ie. Sweet seeds main office in spain or philosophers seeds even my grass-o-matic seeds I went straight to the company. The only actual grow shop/bank I deal with is Alchima which is top notch and also closely connected to all growers/ breeders. I've never had or will have anything mailed to my house and never will to much risk in it. The one in the ground looks fine the discoloration is nothing just new growth coming in she is completely fine. If you've recently transplanted her maybe throw a little root stimulator in the next few w aterings other then that :goodjob:

I'd have liked to have put more in the ground but research suggests that raised peat bogs are too acidic and have too little nutrients for more than about 3 native species of moss, grass and heather to grow in. I could dig a "pot" in the ground and fill it with soil but I've still got a few of those felt pots I never managed to fill so I figure I might aswell use them and be able to move plants around. Got more soil and seeds too but not planning on starting any more for outdoors this year. Just 2 more autos to go out.....possibly 3 but I was wanting to keep one White Widow Auto indoors to increase my chances of getting to smoke some of it....down to 2 thanks to heat and slug issues and the one that's due to go out was well stunted by the heat back when my propagator got too hot so I'm not sure if it'll amount to much.

Could be just some damaged leaves from being stuffed in a bag and then transplanted right enough. Don't have any root stimulator or anything though....just the hydro grow and bloom and some plant magic bloom nutes for the soil ones.

Should be good fun to see what happens either way:)

Looks like one of the May autos is growing purple flowers.....

The one in the ground still isn't looking any happier....
mud1907-3.jpg

The ones in pots seem to be doing much better....
mud1907-4.jpg

And growing outside has recently been working better than the ones I kept inside! :)

These are both Russian Rocket Fuel autos started at the same time but the one on the left went out when it was in a 1" rockwool cube in June and the one on the right I potted up in the same soil and kept indoors under my 125W CFL.
mud1907-5.jpg

A pretty convincing win for outside I hope you would agree? The reason the soil looks different now is that I topped up the one that went out today with BioBizz All-mix as I've used all the Plant Magic soil I had.

How tall is the one in the ground?

Cheers bud. Possibly about 80cm. That one still has a skinny indoor stem where all the other ones that have been outdoor have all thickened up. I think she'll be lucky to make it past stretch without collapsing if she can summon the energy to do anything more.

Should make some good fertiliser though?.....was thinking about using all this year's soil and outdoor trim in the ground for next year. Pretty sure it would work in the ground if there was enough soil and nutrients but it's going to take a while to get enough stuff out there to make a decent size bed of LOS. Seen packets of that Mikeywhatdymacallit fungi in homebase so I'll probably fire some of that in too once stuff starts growing in it.

I have a load of Ionic PK Boost (0 : 14 : 15).....do you think mixing up a load of that and pouring it round the one in the ground might help? I'm just guessing that N might be ok in the peat and it's everything else that's low?

Subscribed Kushtie, great journal. Looking forward to you upgrading your attic space.
