Kushahn Goes Organic With The Hulk 2020

These photos where taken not long after lights on and the last two close ups are the two I gave a compost tea yesterday ever so slow till the slightest dribble of run off as they were dry. The remaining 3 plants still gave a bit of moisture down the bottom so @Emilya i just gave them roughly 200ml each sort of in a spiral from outside to trunk. My methods are probably unorthodox but hopefully the end result is the same.

This Black Widow is a bit droopy from a good watering with compost tea yesterday but zoom in and tell me if you think it is heat stressed or light too close. I’m not real sure. The other 4 girls don’t really have that issue.

Hey Kushahn. Looks like they are coming back. Definitely listen to Emilya, sound advice you’re getting there.

Curious if you have checked your root zone temps. Cool temps slow the dry back which leaves the roots over saturated in a cool medium and suffering from a lack of oxygen.

I’m with you on that one mate, Emilya’s advice is invaluable that’s for sure.

Haven’t checked the root zone temp and never thought of that as a practice, but I have a digital thermometer with a stainless probe I usefor my craft brewing so I will stick that in when I get home from work and post the results.

Cheers

I use my fingers lol, no kidding. I rest the backside of my fingers on top of the soil to get a feel for the temp. If it feels slightly cool to warm that’s good but if the soil is kinda chilled you can bet the soil is even cooler down at the bottom where much of the roots are spreading out. I use heat mats under my containers when the soil feels a bit on the cool side. For me they are a must have for cool and cold weather growing indoors. I use them for seedlings year round too. Can’t remember the ideal root zone temp off the top of my head but I think it’s the range of upper 60’s to lower 70’s Fahrenheit.

I should point out though that I maintain the climates of both my tents by feel so I don’t have the usual climate control meters such as temp/humidity so If my gardens feel warm or cool to me then I adjust them accordingly. Plants and humans prefer very similar climates so if it’s comfy for me then it is for them as well. The only tools I have are a ph meter, an ec meter and measuring utensils.

So I tried the back of the hand method mate and the top of the soil definitely doesn’t feel cold. However the moisture meter still points towards damp down the bottom. But I have taken off the the two straps of the the fabric mesh inserts to the pots off, so I can lift the insert up, so now I can also guage when the pot is dry. They are not overly heavy, but from previous grows in fabric pots I have a fair idea when it dry, which helps me a lot now.

There is a bit more improvement in the girls today, a couple a bit droopy from the small top watering I have given them but nothing to worry about as they are slowly peeking back up. Will continue this top watering every 3 days following @Emilya advice, thanks again Ems for helping out, till the bottom dries up completely.

I can understand what u are about the root zone temp and as opposed to the fabric pots I used in my previous two grows this pot setup, being plastic medical grade pots withthe woven mesh inserts it must be hard to keep the bottom of those inserts warm.

Day 50 Veg

The new growth is slowly starting to come along as these girls recover from their horrific start to life. But I am pleased they have turned the corner and now I just need to steady the ship try and read my garden better and give them only what they are asking fir. Bloody sounds good in theory but at least I am starting to adapt the correct mindset.

These are the two Bruce Banners

This is the Skywalker OG that was in such bad shape from overwatering that I nearly lost her.

And these two are the Black Widows. The second droopy one has been struggling a bit for a little while now so will be keeping a close eye on her.

Definitely looking better! Those girls are coming around nicely. :passitleft:
Thanks mate. Just getting back to that second BW, apart from the slight droopiness, that slight cupping/taco shape in the leaves would that be from a slight overwater, heat or light stress?

I agree with pennywise that it’s probably from heat/light.

Ok. I actually have my heater fan on the floor of the tent and it is pointing straight at that pot so maybe that is the culptit, as none of the other ladies have that issue.?It is not a clip on fan, so and I don’t really have the room to elevate it. I could probably try and point it in another direction but then it would probably impair another pot. Will roll a fat one and ponder.

Point it towards a wall, it will still create air movement.
ThanksPW. Will give that a try. Didn’t even get a chance to light that Spliff up and ponder! Oh well will light it up and ponder anyway, about something...lol

You may come up with a better solution so ponder away. Lol
LOL...No I think your idea sounds fine. If I try and overthink it I might go totally off topic and think about blue camels and pink frogs!

Hey,speaking of off topic lol! Since you are in Oz I’m curious about your taste in music. Just asking because I do listen to quite a few Aussie bands.
