Konk's 1st Grow: ON Canada

Sorry Pennywise, if I tossed these dryish buds to cure at the low 60 rh with a lot of sugar leaves wrapped around the buds, I could trim them a month from now? Then use that shake for edibles or something? Is that correct? First run with information overload, thank you!
Yes, I’ve stored buds with sugar leaves on them trim them up as I use them. Sugar leaves are great for making whatever.
This is newbie golden little nugget I swiped from @JWPcinders ...

Alright, everything washed has been trimmed and in some kind of bag. The bagseed #5 & 5.5 dropped down to 50% rh really fast, so I have ignored it and set my sites on the bag ladies to dry more carefully.
Plant #5 & 5.5 gave back 4 seeds.

Plant #1 in the screen weighed in wet at 128g, plant #2 weighed in at 300g and gave back 3 seeds... I will set photos of how the plants were trained, but already I see a massive difference that is without shake the plant gave more than twice the screen set up. Interesting...

So did everything hermie when I see less than 5 seeds per plant? Or $hit happens?

I covered these two or 4 remaining for today and will get to them tomorrow.
Konk.. konk konk. Konk it upp

Good job Maple Leaf!

I may stalk a few journals... this is a why I'm 3 plants down, but in a 7 seeds up situation. Turns out I do not have unicorn plants, they were just easy... thanks DAB!

It would have had to been sprinkled with pollen from somewhere, either a male close by, it hermied, or a plant near it hermied. Did you ever notice any nanners on your plants? They would look like little bananas noticeable at 10 and 12 o’clock on this bud;
They are responsible for spreading hermie pollen when they open. It is possible to pull them out with tweezers during the growing phase before spreading said pollen, just be sure to get all of the nanner removed and not break them off at halfway! Careful inspection is needed daily if one is found, more are sure to be hiding! Any seed produced from a hermied plant will pass on the hermie traits.

The Lemonade Stand

There is some interesting conversation about colloidal silver, if anyone was considering making some seeds...

I got a package in the mail today. Missed a special, mentioned it in my comment and they tossed in a few freebies. I see those strains grown here but never tried either of them, or the kush actually :cheer:

:bong: ummm, spent most of the day taking down Plant #3 - Rippy.

It's great seeing ya haul them in. The future looks bright with that load of beans. What freebies did ya get?

I heard you telling me to watch the elements, jjjr. I have that purpley one left.
I am not the only outdoor grower around it seems, could have been worse, right.
My weed vendor had a Thanksgiving sale, just ordered an oz and they tossed in a sample of wedding cake and bruce banner. I went with high indica and samples are always welcome. ;)

maybe get some gamma lids konk. they are screw top airtight lids that fit on the top of 20L plastic pails. good for storing a lot of weed long term, and can be burped for curing as well..

Ya know...I just realized that I thought those were seeds...

:welcome: bluter, we have crossed paths...

I quickly googled those gamma lids and see 6 for about $200. Here on the dirt empire that is like dipping into next year's budget... I have 24 - 1L jars and a couple boxes of freezer ziplocs, am I missing a critical step or is it easier to burp one pail?
Ah, I will have so much weed I will need more storage, probably :battingeyelashes:

don't hold it against me lol .. i'm generally ok once fed .. :p

yeah, they're only useful if your looking at a huge amount. only suggested since you looked like you may have done a bit big on the outdoor.

I have 24 - 1L jars

glass for the win. it's what i go for above all else. i don't even travel without a jar. :cheesygrinsmiley:

and a couple boxes of freezer ziplocs,

yuck. kill with fire. sorry, sauga won't like that. ziplocks are the worst thing ever to store weed in.
they were only ever meant for escobar to move weight.

the type of plastic isn't great, it breaks down over time and migrates in to your weed, and i personally think they pull trichomes off, but that may be a myth.

just easier if loads. a 20L pail is lot of weed packed in. was a time we ran 200 plants or so. so we had pails.

Ya, pails would be handy for that many plants!

I have nothing to compare it to, but took 2 plants, divided them wet into 3 classy lcbo paper bags, about 150g each. They are reading about 72%, I shake them and wander off...
It's more weed than I've handled, but doesn't look like that much to store.

It's amazing how much the crop shrinks. You'll prob have enough jars. I dunno about zip bags. Short term theyre prob fine. I know they don't store tobacco very well. They allow air in and everything dries out. Air tight is best. I've filled all my containers and still have plants standing. A problem I welcome..lol

Congrats on the harvest!!!!:yahoo:
What I am trying - mostly with my scruffy, leafy weed is - once it has hang dried for about 5 - 7 days, it is then broke down and placed in mason jars and decarbed, then ground down easily with a 3/4" dowel and then into the freezer. IF some is going to be used for purposes other then smoking - it sure cuts down on storage, curing and burping.
I sure hope I am not screwing anything else up by using this method.

Hail to the Konk, I have a cheap suggestion for burping and curing. After 6 days hanging, I trimmed and ran out of regular jars but I had several of these 20201024_081023.jpg20201024_081003.jpg
They've been sitting at 60% for almost 3 weeks burping them once a day for a ciggy and close them up till the next day. I also reuse the glass spaghetti sauce jars, but summa time the weed she tastes like roasted garlic and tomatoes ;)

The jar situation in my small town was like this until last week. I use freezer ziplocs and that's how we handle our doomsday prep on the empire
I have one more to trim and one more to chop, seems too soon to be underwhelmed by what is dry but agreed, we are due a few new problems. :passitleft:

Thanks, greenjeans, I think everyone who has passed through the journal has been asked to speak up, spare the pleasantries and not watch a healthy plant get wasted. ;) I do wonder about "decarb" is that interchangeable with cure? See, I already need to go reread that :bong:

:welcome: to the dirt empire, SoGnotSOG321. Gold, this is exactly my price point! Wait, spaghetti infused eh?

I agree with this “myth” those things are full of trich stealing static!!

We had the same problem here, croptober puts a strain on the jars!! I put out a post on another social media site buy/sell page looking for jars and was able to score a good few for cheap!

If you decarb uncured flower to smoke, it probably won't taste as good as cured js Is there such a thing as a "deep freeze cure"? I imagine the natural curing would stop long before it was actually cured like normal, or perhaps I misunderstand about your process @greenjeans
