Lasers would NEVER work as the whole point of Lasers is a VERY focused light beam of ONE wavelength. Now if you wanted to burn little pin holes in your plant leaves, then yes lasers would be great. The physics of how LED's work is basically a solid state laser, but light not focused into a beam.

There are other new lighting technologies out there, e.g. Plasma tubes, but nothing with promise/scalability(spelling?) of LEDs.

Light sure is in a state of change as of late, I know MIT stopped a laser in mid stream across a room for.. dunno bout a minute, nasa lab,prolly the mighty JPL, is doing crazy plasma work, really working with it in the near science fiction sense I hear. I'm too math un abled to know how (highly math phobic and Dad, bless him always, was a math teacher, my brain no compute the computations it drove him crazy and it fairly traumatized me for life. I feel anxiety just writing this 35 years later.) it will be intersting to see the trickledown effect to john q public. Heck I'm saving for the Mars II just because of this site by the time I get it it will be passé. Lol ya know, the next level will be outdoors I hope. Fully righteously across the nation legal, may it be so.

Usually the stretch phase of flowering lasts 21-28 days and defoliation is done after this period so that growth is not interrupted. I defoliate in flower at days 21-25 of flower by removing the majority of the fan leaves from the plants. When I defoliate I leave no more then 4 fan leaves per cola at each top and remove any of the lower growth that will not produce anything except popcorn and any fan leaf that shades a bud site. I defoliate again at day 45 of flower by removing any fan leaves that shade a bud site and ensuring proper airflow.

Just FWIW, I don't think LED will be replaced for a long time. Eventually, sure, something better will come along. But I really think that for the next 10-15 years we're going to see more improvements in all aspects of LED, rather then a replacement product for LED.

About to set up a 6'x8' room and 4'x4' tent, should I plunge and go with Lush panels or stick to hps ? I feel with LED I would be able to get rid of ducting and greatly downsize my a/c along with the units drawing less power as well. I am worried however that the quality, yield, and penetration won't compete with a 600w or 1000w hortilux, and the initial cost is about doubled for the LEDS.. Your thoughts ?

Love LED lighting! Never grown with anything else but I just don't have the same issues my fellow non LED growers have. I couldn't imagine having to run ducting and fans just to cool my lights!

The next measure LED should take is the solar measure. If they can figure out a way to put a panel somewhere to power the bats and lights, now we're talking.

I've been quite for a bit, but then I never really say much anyway....still trying to soak up as much as I can, before I lose my train of thought & shoot of in a different direction.....but when I can help, I try do what little I can ....
