KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

re: KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

I have a question.... Do you find it tricky to see actual plant pigment when the LED is on? I look at your pics and if I had to trouble shoot under that lighting it would drive me nuts , stems look purple under the light do they look purple under regular lights? That is what is messing me up at the moment lmao I really am keen on these lights , it looks like the plants really respond to them quickly!!

I also want to comment same as Dennise , no discoloration or nute burns!?! Perhaps the King is not human after all.... Or perhaps he is More Human than Human! Have a wonderful day king , lovin that jungle immensely!

Rosebud, what I do when inspecting or taking pics is turn the LED panel off. I have a couple of CFLs running on the same timer just for that purpose.

Most cameras have a 'custom white balance' setting where you take a 'picture' of a white piece of paper under the light source, and use that to adjust the color balance to white. There are also 'LED glasses' out there that will make it look more 'natural' to your vision. I have reviewed the expensive, $79, ones on my mother plant hunt thread. Others have tried cheaper not LED specific ones, and they work, but not the best color balance.

Example without white balance...

with white balance

These are some pictures of an in process set up of a side by side LED grow with two different panel manufactures. (will not mention names here out of respect for the purpose of this thread)

Plus you get burnout on water pumps:peace:

If running organic hydro, molasses will blend in
if running a synthetic (A&N) the salt breaks down the molasses to fast to be a benefit, but helps keep the salts from building up on the sides of the res :peace:

Sit back and relax,
If you are trying to shorten the flower time, goodluck without using autoflowering seeds
The only thing I can suggest is using GLR in veg and the last 2 weeks of veg start the flower nutes. On average 7-10 days before the first budds and stretch begins, instead of the usual 21.:peace:
I know not my journal, but I got exited because someone asked questions That I Know the answer to.
It seams most new growers are going soil ...LOL
:peace:

Not trying to shorten flower time. Wondering how I can increase bud size and length.

Res temp is my new/old nemesis. Don't appear to be any root rot and roots are an off white color. No browning. IMO she's not stretching much but again it may just be my impatience. I'm at the end of week three (21 days) and it's just not stretching much. Staying with Kings suggestion of not adding extra nutrients in between change out and it seems that was a good suggestion based on yellowing tips. It's either do to res temp or root rot which is closely associated with high res temps...right?

So King, if I may ask this question here.... What are the symptoms of high res temp?

Also, I did some minor defol today and will continue till the weekend...at your leisure can you pop over to my water garden and advise?

The stems are purple on the top where they are exposed to light and green from the underside which is normal. The light from the Lush Lighting Dominator 2x LED panel is much bluer in person and is easy to see the colour of the leaves. My camera does not have a white balance option.

Rose,

You can also pop over to my water garden and check out my pics I generally take pics with the LED and without. I just turn off the LED and turn on my clip on CFL.

Not a water expert but hot root zone temps leads to browning roots and potential rot also nasty stress. What do you use for a reservoir? Could another container like it be over lapped with a water barrier between them? Sometimes a extra barrier wall around root zones helps temps stay down , for dirt in pots anyways... Maybe work same for hydro?

Sorry Bar, I didn't see your reply to that question.

I wish Rose. I'm experimenting with a micro hydro unit for learning purposes. It's only a 1 gallon res. I only have about 5-7 weeks left in this experiment so I'll just soldier thru it.

I've been reading daily on led panels. I can't wait to see how this turns out and see if there what all the hype is about.

Subscribed:)

Stumped,

Check out my journal. I went from CFL to LED. Switch lights when I flipped my time schedule to 12/12. You be the judge. It's only a 3watt diode LED set.

The symptoms of high res temperature are slowed growth, bacterial bloom in the reservoir, root rot, slimy brown bacterial covering on the roots. I have replied to your journal.

Yep, slow growth.... All good, like I said early in my journal, it was figured out and I've already purchased a chiller for my 6 gallon reservoir for my next grow. In the mean time I've been adding baggies filled with ice when I can remember. Most times the temp is in the mid 70's. I've seen it as high as the low 80's and as low (once I add ice) 68-70.

The AK47x Alaskan Thunder were cloned from a plant in flower and are re vegetating very well under the Lush Lighting Dominator 2x. I am impressed with how well the 5 re vegetating plants are now doing.

Subbed. I had looked into getting one of the lights but they just didn't have enough info. I ended up going with clw ss440. I am still interested in these lights and look forward to your success to see how well these lights really perform. Also please check my grow out when u have a chance.
