KingJohnC's 400 Watt LA Confidential Seed Cabinet Soil Indoor Grow Journal

Ok KING, I Am Here Saying Hello, And To Wish You A Happy Belated Canada Day, On Our Nations B-Day!!! Seems A Little Absurd, But it Is Truly Meant WELL!!! My Comp Is All Messed Up, I Can Barely Get To This Site, And Cannot Give REPS,LIKES Or Use My Smilies, As You Know Already. I Use Firefox As My Server, But Not Sure How Easy/Hard, And What Else Will Happen to My Computer If I Try?!? OH WELL, Take Care, SER!!! SINCERELY, JAMESTHEGREEN.

I do my emails on google, upload photos on it too, but to post photos I gotta go to firefox, IDK how it all works.....but I can catch a catfish and run a trotline............fresh trout and fried taters with garlic back at camp for breakfast on opening day.....priceless!

i dont want to repeat information we already know BUT im not sure exactly what you mean mc..
a female plant can be forced to produce male flowers(using hormone applications(=Auxin, Ethylene-feminizing effects; gibberellins and cytokinins-masculinizing effect) or colloidal silver/silver nitrate x sodium thiosulphate-STS) .. maybe this is the difference?? this is certainly something that is unique to the dioecious species. we are seeking to produce male flowers.. which obviously produce pollen but with the fem chromosomes.
the theory is by forcing the female plant to produce male flowers it will maintain the female chromosomes(=female plant) allowing for a cross with another female plant.. the result of which is of course the production of feminized seeds.. this can obviously happen also by leaving a plant to go overly long in its late flower stage whereby its turns, in part atleast, hermaphrodite.
this is a tricky area to be sure.. even though cannabis was one of the first species to be karyotyped, it is still debated by many botanists and biologists as to exactly which sex determinants are utilized by the plant as the karyotyping was formulated years ago and it appears to be shown that cannabis utilizes an X:A system of sex determination(as opposed to the outdated model of X:Y determination).. since then it has been developed to include X:'autosome dosage type' because there are infact a number of sex determination models- including of course environmental determinants.
at the end of the day though, it comes down to the fact that formulations such as colloidal silver and STS work, as do the plant hormones mentioned above.. this is a fascinating subject.. we have only had the technology to create feminized seeds since the late 90's thanks to the 'dutch passion' company.. so there is still alot of developments to be made in this area
the stabilization of a plants genetics are so varied.. if cross breeding f1's(="true breeds") for example, you can expect a far greater success with genetic stabilization than with plants taken from two completely different genetic pools(=hybridization), which will require quite a bit of 'inbreeding' to refine the genotype to express the pheno traits one is aiming for. finding perfect matches will only happen through cloning though.. not through seeds, so if someone was wanting to aim for finding perfect matches for their own breeding purposes you would do well to go with clones as parents and go from there.

my 2 cents worth! :-p

peace y'all /|\

I never have seen these colloidal silver projects produce male flowers...if that's what you're saying....I do KNOW that scientific studies, projects...whatever take thousands of subjects to stabilize strains.....I have done female breeding and what I get are individuals....the plants lineage will often express itself MORE than it will the cultivar.....just my observations, You would be better off breeding very stable strains..........unless you have the room and resources to do some scientific work.........which takes literally thousands of subjects. The potential to produce "males" is questionable....to my logical mind...of course hemaphrodite is always a possibility....the seeds from a female cross come from them. Good luck on the exam!

Today is July 5 2013
Day 2 of flowering

this is the first video for KingJohnC's 400 watt LA Confidential Seed Cabinet Soil Indoor grow journal. although it was started under florescent lights for the first 69 days, it has been under a 400 watt Metal Halide light bulb for 15 days. the light bulb was switched to a High Pressure Sodium bulb 2 days ago.

on April 28th LA Confidential broke ground.
on June 2nd it was topped and transplanted from a 1 gallon pot into a 5 gallon pot.
on July 2 LA Confidential was put into flowering, 12/12 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness.
on July 5 3 branches were tied down to level the canopy.
Day 2 of flowering the plant has visible pistols.

Hi John, I don't know how I missed your journal in your Sig but I'm here now. I've heard LA confidential is a crazy smoke but have personally never been able to get my hands on. It's like trying to find a unicorn lol. OG kush is great though so I could only imagine what this is like.

Really nice looking setup and Great job on the LST! May I ask why you chose to LST the plant? Gonna have to try an LST on my next grow instead of the scrog. Something about getting massively huge, potent cola's just sounds really appealing. Good luck on the grow John, will pop in to see the progress :thumb:

i would like to welcome everyone to my Seed Cabinet LA Confidential journal. i plan to regularly update this journal with photographs and video when Labexperiment brings over his video camera. my partner in this is my friend Labexperiment. Labexperiment and I have constructed a seed cabinet with a 6 inch carbon filter, 6 inch cooltube, 400 watt digital Lumatek ballast, exhausted outdoors. Labexperiment is an organic grower and has mixed up his batch of composted mater, rock minerals, gypsum, perlite. this is my first experience with this mixture so i have left the composition up to him. General Hydroponics Flora series nutrients are the nutrients that are going to be used for this grow. Labexperiment germinated the seed and has grown the plant under a 2' t5 florescent light until it was 6" tall and then topped at 4 nodes. I received the cannabis plant 14 days later and placed it under a 400 watt Metal Halide light. Mycorrhizae has been added to the roots during transplant from 1 gallon to a 5 gallon pot. I trained the plant down so its secondary branches would develop into separate tops. the plant has been fed General Hydroponics flora series nutrients at 5 millilitres per gallon. the lower leaves have just yellowed indicating that it requires more nitrogen. it will be switched to a flowering nutrient schedule.

LA Confidential

Details
This is a great medical strain as it relieves pain and helps eliminate insomnia. For the everyday user, the high of this herb is psychedelic and energetic, with a hammer. This girl is a heavy eater. There are two real phenotypes of the Confidential and they will both finish in 45-56 days. One is a bit more hardy, but both equal in knock down drag out stone. Pre-veg'ing is advised to maximize the yield. Thinning the large fan leaves in the later part of the flower cycle will promote more light getting to the lower buds, thus increasing your yield. With an incredible smell and unique LA flavor, DNA' s LA Confidential has won many awards. 1st Battle of the Bridge 2009 (independent grower) 1st Indica HT Cannabis Cup 2008* 1st Kush Cup Las Vegas 2007 (independent grower) 1st Indica IC420 Breederscup 2005 2nd Bio Highlife Cup 2009 2nd Indica HT Cannabis Cup 2005 3rd Indica HT Cannabis Cup 2004 3rd Kush Cup Las Vegas 2006 Strain of the Year 2006 Hightimes

LA Confidential is a cross between OG LA Affie x Afghani.

LA Confidential Cannabis Strain
LA Confidential is known as a very popular and successful strain within the culture. The cured buds have a frosty, lime green appearance, and little purple leaves. The taste is smooth and piney, with a classic skunky aroma that does not linger for too long. LA Confidential is a well rounded strain. For the everyday user, it delivers a fast approaching high that is both psychedelic and super calming on the mind and body. For newer users seeking to achieve a medicinal goal; LA Confidential can both lull a patient to sleep and treat pain acutely.

OG LA Affie x Afghani
100% Indica
Flowering Time: 7 - 8 weeks
Yield: 350-450g/m2

Quick question John, I apologize if this is frowned upon as far as etiquette is concerned. I am getting a couple of freebies called Silver LA from Reserva Privada, made from the LA Confidential and Silver Bubble strain. Will that combination detract significantly from the awesome qualities you spoke of in LA Confidential?

Thank you

:Namaste:

Jeff

that information was taken from the breeders website.

my Silver LA did not germinate

here is information for Silver LA

Silver LA
Silver Bubble x LA Confidential
60% Sativa : 40% Indica
Flowering Time: 9 weeks
Yield: 400-500 g/m2

Silver LA is a big yielding, fast flowering, mostly sativa strain that produces super sticky flowers that have the LA scent with spicy hazy undertones of Silver Bubble. Growing Silver LA is great due to its fast veg time, mould resistance, and great yields. IF YOU’RE INTO CONCENTRATES this is a great plant to use. Terpenes really come through in concentrates, but more than the flavor, the Silver LA will knock you down with its strength. The Silver LA will soon be a favorite in your garden and being a 9 week flowering strain also makes the Silver LA commercially viable.

Thank you for that info John, and more importantly the place to go so I can do the research myself!
