Keith's Real Second Grow - Banana Jealousy

Thank you all I will go with the 5 gallon and yes, it is going to be an auto, so I do not want it little. 1 plant will have the complete 4x4 tent by itself. 3 days and I go under the knife, and it came quick I am not looking forward to it.

I found the only difference between a 3 and a 5 gallon fabric bag was watering frequency !

Cheers
Thanks, this is good to know. I grow in 5s but was recently tempted to do one in a 3. I didn't and I won't now you say this.

I think some folk even grow autos in 7s.
What Shed said! Also, do your physical therapy as instructed so that you regain your strength and movement

personally i would go for a 7 gal Keith

Hello Stone I have not figured what size pots to use but I will be using Fox farm soil. I think I will use a 3 gallon pots as I want to keep the plant small. I do not know if this will be too small or not. Do you have any suggestions.
I read down to Shed's answer and agree. You're in a 4 x 4 right? You could go with a 3 but a 5 would be a better size for your first tent grow. The 5 will give you less worry and work.
Now that I've read the rest I see you have a handle on it! Awesome!

In 2 days you'll be on the road to better living and have a new lease on life! :yahoo: You go man! Work your ass off to get better! As Carmen mentioned, PT is the answer!

Thank you, Stone they are going to come to my house for PT and I will do whatever I can to get moving.
I thought that was awesome when I got my knees! A nurse came once a week and PT twice for 30 days if I remember right. Then I could drive to them. I was as happy to get out and drive to them after 30 days of no driving!

Well, Keith, you've received recommendations to use a 3, 5 and a 7 gallon pot. Things should be as clear as mud now! :)

LoL
I guess I could clarify my answer a bit.

I would recommend 3's because I've (personally) never seen an auto need more space than that to finish successfully. If it's a monster plant, it may want a bit more attention in the small pot, so suggested a 5 to make tending a bit easier.
Anything more than a 5 gal pot is just a waste of soil & space.

I'd bet there is someone out there who could actually get an auto's roots to fill a bigger pot, but it would definitely be an anomaly.
Oversized pots seem to regularly show signs of overwatering and being waterlogged. This causes slow/sluggish growth making it nearly impossible to fill all that extra space for roots.

Bigger is not always better IMO

We're so helpful huh?
Yes, really. Keith now knows that all options are viable and it's really up to him what size he chooses to go with!

And I nearly forgot to toss my dirt into the mud puddle.

Keith, I grew these in 2 gallon pots (but they're photos not autos). :Rasta:

Beautiful plants and I will be using a 5-gallon pot, and I will start 2 seeds but may only keep 1 plant, but we will see as I have never grown more than I plan on keeping. killing one will be hard to do.
you said you're using happy frog soil correct? if so i would add some perlite & EWC

GDB you are right on the pot size it is up to me. How many I start and keep is also up to me. On my summer grows I always start 6 and keep 3 seedlings. This time I have no one to give the extras to. I could keep two as I will have plenty of room in my 4x4 tent. These are also going to be autos so they will be much smaller. I cannot wait to start growing.

Hey, Keith-
I'm not sure if soil gnats are a "thing" where you are, but if they are, consider treating your plant water with mosquito bits from day 1, and you'll never have gnats in there...

..they don't really hurt much, but they sure are annoying...and they'll end up everywhere in the house...I speak from experience when I say that the Mrs. really isn't going
to like it when/ if that happens..😠

I always use perlite, but EWC will be new to me, but I should be using it any way. I will start using EWC on all my grows starting with this one.

Not all autos turn out smaller, Keith! Hopefully yours will, if that's what you want. But with autos there are no guarantees. :Rasta:

Thanks for the advice, Carcass I have never had gnats before but I also have never grown inside in a tent so I will most likely get them so mosquito bit I will use. This will be a lot of fun growing i

Hey Keith I was just wondering how you’re planning on monitoring your temp/RH? The Inkbird I used was pretty inexpensive and worked well. CL🍀. :thumb: :goodluck::passitleft:
