Keffka's Stonington Soil, Bag Seed, 2022 Setup Indoor Grow

That's in his self watering pots in particular yes? @Krissi Carbone uses his style pots and absolutely slays with them!
I don’t fully recall, I have a lot of crossover between the SKUNK site and his books, but I believe it was 3 in plastic 4 in the self waters.. I do know that he praised them highly though, and like we’ve discussed, the SIP/Self Water type system is a seemingly logical next step in the TLO/LOS styles. It makes sense if you think about it in natural terms, most places it grows wild have access to water tables, springs, and rivers. Sativas in tropical locations have abundant access to water on demand.

I’ve really started looking into everything we do indoors and seeing if I can get it as close to nature as possible. An example being a controller for my light so I can have dusk and dawn. Lights don’t just turn on and off in nature, just like water doesn’t come on a schedule either. I think we’ll find the closer to nature we get, the higher quality we’ll see. Similar to how you can tell when an LOS has been grown with tap water versus RO water. I’ve got my eyes set on the wet dry cycle currently and trying to figure out what aspects of it we are benefitting from and what aspects are repetitive or unnecessary.

Keffka slays anyway but these pots will help him annihilate!
Thanks Krissi! Honestly they’re fascinating.. Im all about giving the plant as much control as it will take, and getting it close to nature. As a living being myself I’d be quite upset if I was dependent on someone dumping a gallon of water on my head every week for my water intake lol.

Well done Keffka👍👊 You did a beautiful rescue for a really long time👍😊. I can't wait to see what you come up with for your next grow. Myco really needs to establish itself well before microbes get too populous or the microbes will feast on the fugii. In small pots thats much harder to manage. What I did when I was running 2.5g cloth pots was only add myco to the starter cup, no ewc or tea. Fish fert only to establish the myco, then uppot that fungal dominant solo cup to the 2.5gal pot and again only water and fish fert for about 2 weeks until large white roots poke out the bottom of the bags, then introduce ewc and ewc teas. If I ran ewc in the 2.5gal mix I often had myco problems and at harvest the solo cup rootball would easily pull out of the 2.5g pot. If I did it again I would get a good fungal tea recipe and once the microbes are revving in the 2.5gals give them a fungal tea on a schedule. Myco is one of the many main reasons I went back to 10gal pots. Myco needs the room. Microbes can't move far so myco needs to get away from them. Once myco gets established the myco will control the microbes and the trade route is established. Get that set in a small pot and manage it closely you can get 3-4 oz per pot but you need to start with a clone to do it or you run out of time and the pot is out of food. Can't wait👊

Lol man it was a hell of a rescue wasn’t it? That’s good for me though, I learn best by just getting right into the fire lol. Myco is my biggest concern going forward. It’s time for establishment is quite long and attempting to balance the food web while waiting for it will be slightly tricky. Some decent planning should make easy work of it though.

This time I’m not waiting. I’ll be putting my seeds in a jar for 12 hours, as soon as they start to sink or show they’ve cracked I’m going to roll them in myco and plant them in a hole lined with myco. Doing this should allow the myco to initiate colonization the moment the tap root comes out, and it should help pull it all the way through to the bottom. This should give me ample time to get everything established and balanced with time to spare before flower.
I could plainly see during flower if I would’ve had a better myco colony I easily would’ve doubled my yield. I had severe P and K “deficiencies” show so who knows how hard that hammered my harvest but it wasn’t pretty lol.

Fish fertilizer. Which fish fert are you referring to? Hydrolyzed or Emulsion? I use the Hydrolyzed for fungal teas so I’m assuming the Hydrolyzed but I also have noticed that distinction isn’t always made.

When I say solo cup I mean the solo cup of 75/25 coco/soil with myco added, that I cut or root my clones into, depending if I cut them straight into a solo cup, or use the aero-cloner and then plant into this solo cup.

I haven’t settled on my solo cup mix yet.. I liked the seedling starter mix I had, it was really mellow and effective, but I also made 12 gallons of mix and am thinking of just cutting it since I’m gonna run 4 - 3 gallons.

Couldn't agree more wholeheartedly. The plants will know that reservoir is there too and once they find out, those roots are growing to get to it...got to love these go getters we have.

I only like gallons of water over my head in the shower. Just personal preference

Update. Drying is finishing. At an average of 65F and 50 rh it took 3 days to dry to an acceptable level for jarring. I am extremely pleased with what I am seeing. Trichomes have appeared in dense vein like patterns throughout the buds. In certain areas they’re so abundant it looks almost wet, pictures 3 and 4 really highlight it. The smell is pungent and powerful. It’s so sticky it feels stiff, almost like it’s been over dried or is mainly stems. I broke open a smaller bud and it crumbled beautifully and stickily, I was impressed, it reminds me of kinetic sand.

I threw some in my water bong to see what kind of cure im looking at and I was blown. Tf. Away. I can’t believe it. Right off the drying rack it’s smooth and mellow with an amazing taste. A super clear high as well. Im extremely impressed with the quality and am anxious to get it jarred asap and curing. I’ve completed almost half the plant. Hopefully it will be finished tonight but trimming definitely wears on me.

Whatever that bagseed was it came out frosty! :bravo:

It did, it’s gorgeous.. It stinks something fierce already too! I opened the jars today just to weigh everything and the whole house stunk for 30 minutes.

Those long hairs look so delicate. I bet it cures to be phenomenal😍😍😍😍

I can’t wait til they lay down during cure, it’s gonna make the buds almost all red.

I’ve finished trimming and have jarred everything up. The final weight going into cure is 90 grams. 3 ozs is not bad for the trouble I ran into. I am excited for it to cure and see how quality it really is. I’ve also set some to the side to cure for 6 months to see how it comes out.

I disassembled and have cleaned and scrubbed everything in the grow area. I am in the process of setting everything back up with a larger area. I’ve taken the parts of the walls and pushed them out a foot each way. I will be able to walk around the entire 4x4 area under the light and will have better access to the light to move it up and down.

That completes this grow! Thank you so much for stopping through and checking it out! A special thank you to @Gee64 and @StoneOtter for the tips and conversations, it helped immensely!

I will be starting a new journal soon and will post the link to it here. Next grow is gonna be another round of the same bag seed this plant just came from. I’ll be doing a TLO style grow with Coast of Maine products, EWC, and an all purpose. I’ll break everything down further in the next journal.

I’m gonna wait until the 2 week cure mark to report results then I’ll report the journal for completion.

Nothing is better that the strain "OwnGrown"😎😎😎👊👍

Definitely! I’m not picky when it comes to strains and brand names and all that, I’m happy just knowing I grew it.

My main interest in purchasing seeds is finding stable genetics I have some information on so I can tailor my grows to their specific needs. I could do it with the bag seeds but it would be more cost effective to do it with some of Revs seeds since they’re already identified and stabilized.

Heres a story for you to possibly give you some help/direction/insight into/about myco, before your wife kicks you out for having too many tubs of soil😂😂.
So I start a seed in a solo cup of starter soil and add a generous helping of my favorite myco. It flourishes, gets transplanted into a 2gal cloth pot again with a generous dose of myco. It flourishes and gets uppotted to its final 10gal container and continues to flourish with a great myco:microbe environment right through until harvest at which time I chop the entire plant off as close to the soil as I can and set that pot aside while I move the next plant into the flower tent.

That spent pot sits unwatered on the floor for 6-8 weeks and then I dump it into a big tub of recycled dirt that I use to feed my worm farm. The reason I tell you this is because by letting that pot of soil sit for 6-8 weeks with no plant life it causes the myco to spore out and go dormant. When I start seeds I use this soil for my seed starter soil. The myco is already there. Soil that goes through my worm farm comes out myco free as the microlife ate it in the worm farm, but the recycled soil that didnt go thru the wormfarm is a key addition in every pot I make, because of the myco in it which very quickly establishes in the new pot. You dont really need to have a myco farm, just use about 25% recycled soil that hasn't been rebuilt and your next grow is golden. Here is a picture of the newest tray I put in my worm farm. The worm farm is the perfect germination environment and after 6 days you can see the myco growing. The worms will eat it I only ran this demo so you could see how quickly it will come out of dormancy. 6-8 days temp dependent is typical. A properly watered pot would also re-establish its myco just as quickly as a properly damp worm farm. It negates the need to have a myco farm because you already have a myco farm👍

Beautiful outcome all jarred up! If you go with Rev's genetics it'll be fun! I grew 4 of his and all were very different and very very good to imbibe! The Cherries DubeLee I have started now is made from his chunky cherry thai and a wedding cake from black skull. I have great expectations!

This is perfect! This removes so much work lol! I can put the farm on the back burner as a fun hobby now rather than treating it like a necessity. This works along with my desire to have a cannabis familiar myco colony repopulate as well. I can see doing this perpetually and reaching fairly high levels of efficiency.

I’ve perused his seed bank and they all look rather lovely lol! I’ve noticed none of his seeds are feminized, or I didn’t see any. I wondered if that was a trait of his “organic” stabilization since feminizing inherently destabilizes the strain, but I’ve seen other “organic” seed dealers offer feminized versions so I’m not sure. Either way, I’m much more confident purchasing regular seeds than fems in a normal situation regardless. I’d like to be able to breed if I’m going to spend the money Yknow?

Grow room renovation and cleaning in progress. I’ve pushed the walls out at a foot, 2 feet, and 3 feet. I’ve opened the “tent” up and will be regulating the entire attic area. I may need to invest in a stronger humidifier, and possibly use a stronger heater. The attic is uninsulated, however I have plugged the vents. The lack of insulation will allow enough passive air exchange, however I may find myself having to hang blankets to keep the area a bit warmer come January and February. The room is good until temps dip below 28 F, then it becomes a battle to reach even 68 F.

I have cleaned the fans and floor. I had no issues with pathogens, pests (minor fg issue from store soil was never more than an annoyance), mildews or molds so I’m very confident in the cleanliness of the area to support plant growth.

I have brought in extra items and surfaces I found myself in need of throughout the grow and am in the process of sterilizing them and putting them in place.

For safety I have a smoke detector installed and a fire extinguisher by the door. I use only UL listed extension cords, surge protectors, and timers. My light is American made, IP65 water resistant rated, UL 8800 certified, and it is on its own circuit. The heater(s) when needed are placed on their own circuit that is shared by the blower. The rest of the equipment in the room (fans, humidifiers, etc.) is on a separate circuit dedicated to the room as well.

I will be elevating my surge protectors as well as cleaning up the cords and wires once everything has been cleaned and placed.

I’ll share the completed room photos in the beginning of my next journal as part of the introduction to that grow.

It's just fun to create something that wasn't here before and may be of medicinal value to me or someone else! I do it often.

When you think about the fact that we’re essentially combining 17ish elements into something so amazing and complex it gives you a really cool feeling that’s hard to describe but I would definitely include fun as part of the feeling lol.

I have started my next journal. I laid out my intro and plan and will begin posting my pictures this evening. Here is the link for those interested:

@Gee64 im tagging you so you can see the link.. If your notifications are like mine, that SIP thread overwhelms my inbox lol
