I agree it doesn’t help but I also don’t believe it’s half of my bill. Especially because I run at off peak hours. I have a teenager who is up all hours of the night constantly leaving stuff on, I have a preteen who is always leaving stuff on, my wife loves to run the space heater for hours on max, the weather has been bonkers calling for AC one day then heat the next. There’s a lot of stuff going on.

However this is my chance to find out. If my electric bill next month is still high I’ll know it’s not the light costing me 175-250$ a month to run. I’ve done the math over and over and even running my light maxed out at 720W for 12 hours doesn’t come close to being that much. Even the math for 50% for 18 hours off peak/mid peak doesn’t come close to that. My math says it’s more like 40-60$ to run the light
Space heater, how many watts? Most are 1500 on max. I traded mine in for an oil filled electric radiator. It lowered my bill a lot.

Got my electric bill yesterday.. 100% on the light is a bit too intense for my wallet 🤣 total was 408$.. I would have to grow double what I’m growing and sell it to justify that so instead I turned the light down to 50% and dropped it about a foot. It’s now about 12-15 inches from the tops of the buds. It’s still hitting the plants with 35-42 DLI depending on location. I also raised up the shorty on its own so it can get a bit more light

Personally I don’t think it’s the light causing my electric bill, but my wife is certain so I decided to test it and we’ll see.

They look good all together😍 Now thats a patch!

I’m convinced it’s the space heaters as well.. there were no high electric bills in the summer while I was using AC AND the light.

It’s all good.. after this grow I will have a couple pounds in the stash and won’t need to use a 4 foot by 4 foot commercial light in my attic 🤣

I’m thinking about buying a smaller light and growing a couple less plants.. we’ll see how it works out with the light and harvest

Forgot to post these.. this is why my FIL plant was so awesome:

The roots broke through the bottom of the bag then they went through the fabric that was on the ground underneath. They set up shop and even formed a couple arbuscules. This let the plant tap into the earths minerals, and myco, as well as the water deeper in the ground. This explains why even though I only watered it twice it still produced well.

163 grams of trim and larf. I’ll be adding an ounce of my lowest quality flower that’s been curing for a year as well as the trim I get from this indoor harvest. I need about 220 grams to make up butter which I’ll have after harvest. I think I’ll also do some hash for this journal as well

I figure it is more than just the plant lights. The fans and the filter fan are running off peak and on peak. Add in the occasional use of a dehumidifier. And, I have some lights coming on to take care of houseplants. In the long run it is not the growing that brings on that big bill. It is the heating and cooling of the house including the ceiling fans and occasional window fan that I figure is the biggest single drain and then household lighting. And TVs, computers and all those little devices that need charging.

Wife does not complain, maybe because I behave myself and attempt to keep the grow room electrical use within reason.

Ok, enough about him. How about some picture of the MEL'S plant.

Lol I’ve got nothing but if you can imagine a hermd plant with PM and bud rot then you got it.

Oh she’s not complaining, it’s a disagreement. She even told me to leave it at 100 since we’re in the home stretch but I also want to prove a point 🤣

She smokes more than I do and prefers homegrown, so she gets it. Especially because a couple expensive electric bills still won’t come close to the cost of high quality flower like I produce at the amounts we go through

I was thinking about getting a newer light but we’ll see.. I really like knowing I can give my plants as much light as they could ever use if I want to

@Keffka - I’m noticing (finally, lol) that there is a point in flower where the leaves in general don’t pray anymore like the did in veg. Bud praying seems to be sort of closer to horizontal to the ground. I see the same in your grow. What’s the deal with this? Or is this an inaccurate observation?

I’m loving the consistency of the bud tops.

Thank you.. it’s why I love the manifold, I can get really good, even coverage across the entire plant instead of a 30 DLI difference between the top and bottom

That front left plant drives me crazy

It’s a beast.. I was convinced it was a male because it was so big and healthy. It’s the same strain as the top right but looks much larger

I see this often as well. I think it may be water related. My thinking is, in the containers, the plant does not have access to the volume of water it would really prefer while it’s budding. I don’t think we can provide this in a container either. The reason I believe this is because I only see it happen to indoor or container plants.

My outdoor plants don’t do this in flower unless they’re in a container and haven’t rooted to the ground. If the plant roots to the ground and can access the earth, it has all the water it wants.

I would lean toward bud formation physically stopping the praying if it weren’t for me seeing praying flower plants outdoors

Beautiful plants, Keff. :thumb:

Thanks Az! I’ve always felt the better looking your plants are, the healthier they are. This all changes over these next few weeks though.. They’re about to get real wild looking and I can’t stop it.. I didn’t see a single leaf issue until the 6th week began though so I think I’m in the clear and the plants got everything they wanted
