Keffka's Recycling, KOS Blue Thai, Herbies Seeds Apple Betty, Runtz Punch

I've been waiting for the right time to say this:
When you were mixing your soil, you blamed the physical difficulty on being 40 & I talked some smack. It was after I talked said smack that you revealed you're a disabled veteran. I'm not taking back the smack, whippersnapper. It's my nature to talk shit. But I hate that you have those disabilities & I hope you weren't offended by my bless your heart comment. If you were offended, I offer my apologies. NOT! Suck it up buttercup!:bongrip:

I don't know how you & gee ended up reading my journal, but I'm glad you did & I'll expound on that when I'm caught up.

Lol you’re good.. One of the big giveaways that someone probably is lying about being a veteran is being real sensitive about people talking shit about any range of topics. There’s not really anything anyone could say that would actually offend me, especially online. Once you’ve been to war everything else seems like it’s just not that big of a deal. I’ll get into arguments but that’s more about my ego and need to prove to myself I’m smart than anything else 🤣

Still.. I need to figure out a way to mix soil better because anything more than I made this time around is gonna be a pain in the butt lol.

was told that TLO soil should cook for a minimum of 90 days. How long will your soil mix have cooked when you start using it

This is heavily dependent on the temperatures your soil cooks at, how much you’ve actually amended it, and what you’ve used to amend it. This time around I leaned more into my fast burning meals than anything else, as well as, having kept the soil cooking at around 80-90F consistently. This lets me get away with cooking my soil for 45 days. The cooler it gets, and the more I lean into minerals and long burning amendments the longer it will take. Since the potting mix was already decent quality, and I’m using larger containers, I didn’t need to amend as heavily as I would once I recycle.

So this time I’m cooking for 45ish days. Once I harvest and re amend the soil it’ll likely cook for a few months since it will be cold and I’ll be adding extras.

Looks like I'm caught up finally! I've put some thought into how to articulate this & I came up with this: You & @Gee64 are speaking the language I'm trying to learn. It seems like different growing methods all have their own language that suits each particular style, like ordering coffee at Waffle House vs. ordering coffee at a really hip coffee shop with baristas - it's a different language.
I've spent a few hours for a few days getting caught up on this thread. Great idea for a journal & a very good read so far, including the back & forth with @GainesvilleGreen . It reminds me of two guys who both have great pickup trucks. One's a Ford & one's a Chevy, but both think theirs is better. But I will proudly count myself among the soil nerds! As I stated earlier, I have more to learn than I have to knowledge to share, so I'll mostly lurk.
I do have one question - I'm anal about things & once I accept a concept about something, it's hard to sway me. I was told that TLO soil should cook for a minimum of 90 days. How long will your soil mix have cooked when you start using it?
I like to cook mine for at least a couple months but my outdoor grow was only 25 days and its doing fine. The real key is adding the right amount of water to let it cook, and very thorough weekly mixing/rewetting. Normally I cook for at least 2 months though

This too.. I add water every few days to a week and I mix the bins every other day or every third day at least.. I keep the lid off and have holes drilled in the bins so lots of oxygen can reach as much as possible

Patience is often rewarded in growing.. This morning the membrane was still attached.

I drop a few more drops of water on it then went and brushed my teeth and grabbed the tweezers. By the time I got back the plant sloughed it off without any intervention which is nice. Tweezers can go south fast on tiny sprouts

I just posted this in Geespot Keff but here is what you can expect in your 10gals in a couple months. Thats a big engine for flower. I shook a bit of dirt out to accentuate the root visual. See the solo cup up top? That was I think 58 days of veg and then culled on day 23 of flower under a half extinguished light so it could have been better under full light thru stretch. This one was only top-watered. No swicking.

Edit: now you can visually see the need for proper watering. You really need full saturation to wet a rootball entirely.

My favorite part. Scratch-and-wins.... lets see what you won😎.

Keff if you are going to manifold these do yourself a favor and leave the 2nd set of branches (clone branches) alone and let them grow around the manifold until you cut them as clones.

Your success rate with the clone branches is far higher, especially when you are just learning and dialing it all in.

Everyone is getting manifolded.. damn plants grew almost 6 feet tall in a 3 gallon without being topped.. It’s also much easier to harvest, dry and cure 8 even colas versus 16-20ish branches of varying sizes, AND it’s easier to fit them in and still be able to access the entire plant.

There was a side on each of the plants last grow that I couldn’t access, and I prefer to be able to get a good look at all angles.

I will be fully watering the 4 sprouts that are up and running with low Ppm (5-10) myco water. I can see hyphae already but I want to make sure I get the entire medium because roots will be growing quickly. Since I need to get my watering cycle established this gives me a good excuse to myco drench.

I also have an oscillating fan currently set to mid power blowing at the cups/plants. Enough airflow to make them vibrate. This will strengthen the entire plant and keep fresh oxygen blowing through the root zone

Currently waiting on 2 stragglers.. they’re from different sources so they may just be slow to sprout phenos.. in my experience they wind up being some of the healthier better yielding plants

Lol.. My wife gave me the Ok to grow shrooms now that the forums have allowed it 🤣 Really what happened was I saw it on the forums and mentioned it to her. She’s been interested in microdosing but has been nervous about suppliers, so… we’ll be growing shrooms once I spend my requisite time reading up on strains and methods. From what I can tell so far I’m already setup to grow them aside from a few small purchases to include the spores

That’s been my experience too. The runt(s) of the litter always end up being the rockstar(s).

Shrooms will be fun Keffka! I've seen folks here grow some beauties!

They seem to be significantly easier than cannabis.. Just a matter of maintaining a sterile medium during colonization seems to be the biggest hurdle

The garden's on point!

Thanks Stone.. they always look best before I have a chance to infect them with my insecurities 🤣

Looking good.. needed water already.. extra perlite and the extra holes dry the medium quickly. Runtz Punch doesn’t like the mix as much as Revs seeds do.. makes sense, I fine tuned this grow for Revs seeds.

I may have compromised the Apple Betty and fourth Blue Thai through clumsiness. It never fails that I knock something over in the beginning. This time it was my 2 stragglers while trying to move them to the side during watering. We’ll see what happens
