JustMeds R & D

...when I grow the classic sativas I like to flower them when quite small on 11/13 and force them as fast as possible. They can take forever and ever and overgrow an entire tray if you don't tame them.

You don't say. :surrender:

Got the arduino pushing good sensor data into database. Just have one temp humidity sensor working now. I am curious what the data will look like tomorrow night. I have two other humidity sensors in the tent which read real close to each other. This one seems to read about 10 points high, but just got it in there. Will let it stabilize and see how it looks tomorrow. If not I can adjust the offset in the code to correct for it. I also have more sensor's to swap in and see if they are all like that. Will grab a screen shot of the chart tomorrow night.

Well here is a very simple screen, like a proof of concept.

Looks like its getting good data. Any idea why the humidity spikes like that during lights out?

I think it may have to do with I have no pull-up resistor on the data pin. I will be adding that over the weekend to test the results. When I seen them high spikes I knew something was not just right. My thoughts are to pull it out this weekend and add 3 or 4 total sensors to unit. Then I can compare them all to see if they are staying in sync with each other. In the end if it works out I am thinking 6 sensors for the tent. 2 at the floor, 2 at scrog screen and 2 at the canopy top. Think it will be interesting to see that for a bit. There is also a electric heater in the room and you can really see during lights out when it kicks in.

Now here is another thought/project going through the gray matter. An arduino is capable of turning on and off a small computer fan. Mount fan to lid of a 5 gallon bucket with sensor inside bucket with drying bud. With dampers on the intake and exhaust you could control the humidity I think.

Also take into consideration right now it is taking a reading every 10 seconds every minute would be fine. Also the temps are real good lights on to out.

If I'm reading the two plots correctly, it looks like the heater turning off and the humidity spikes are in sync with each other. I wonder if theres some interference there.

Yep, that is what I noticed also.

Do you think if you sampled at 1 minute intervals as opposed to 10 seconds those spikes would disappear unless it sampled at that exact time the heater shut off.

Humidity always spike when lights go off.

The best way to mitigate it is a larger volume of air.....a bigger grow room. It doesn't take much to fog up a dive mask. But if you want to fog up a 20,000 square foot room with large windows it's gonna take 60 people exercising hard to do it.

When it comes to grow rooms and their environments, bigger is better. But we do the best we can.

You guys I think are both right in what you are thinking. I think you both are thinking different things on the spike's.

The extremely high spikes at the instant the heater turns on/off is electrical I think. The gradual increase is the plant releasing the water (Transpiration).

Hell maybe its my goofy sensor setup....LOL

It will be fun and interesting laying it out to understand it more for sure. I hope to be able to provide some interesting info. Just need a little more time and testing, part of the learning.

The way the temps are stable I like. The strange readings on the humidity makes me think I have some tweaking to do. What I am planning on doing now is placing 3 of the sensors side by side on the breadboard, they should read the same for the most part. Plan to have that in tent for tonight's testing.

I also plan to cut clones tonight and get the auto's out of main tent. Will place them under the Veg light for the remainder of there time.

Will update later what all I got done...LOL

Does the temperature drop more than 10 degrees in 10 minutes when the lights turn off? If so, I think you'll find it's the sudden temperature drop that causes the humidity to spike.

Or am I missing something in the discussion?
