These indoor strains are bred to force flower. There's certain advantages for doing so, namely the tight, compact buds we all desire.

You think gradually lower amount of light will affect the bud size and density? I am thinking with the heavy sativa's (Landrace 100%) I may be able to lower the flower time some, at the expense of some yield. If it worked out would not have to wait so long to sample a small amount to know if you want to invest the correct amount of time to get bigger yield. Not sure what effect it may have on quality though.

This talk has me thinking. Do we know if flowering time can be shortened by growing methods, or is it all determined by genetics that we can't alter during a grow?

Do you mean fewer hours of light, or lower levels of light?

I run my flower room on 11/13, so I'm all about shorter photoperiods. It doesn't hurt yield much and I like the terps and flavors. You notice it if you've grown a strain 12/12 and 11/13.

I haven't done it in a while, but when I grow the classic sativas I like to flower them when quite small on 11/13 and force them as fast as possible. They can take forever and ever and overgrow an entire tray if you don't tame them.

I got the Arduino talking to the Temp/Humidity sensor. Next step, get it pushing data into database. Baby steps grasshopper, baby steps.

I was thinking lower hours of light. I also think I will be trying to lower temps in the later stages to keep terps on buds and out of filter.

Have you considered UVB lighting? I want to drop 1 in the middle

That is what I was getting at, trying to speed up the growing for testing strains and then grow them to full potential when you find something you like, someone left lid to box open again. My gut tells me we won't be able to speed it up.

If you are testing out strains, 12/12 or 11/13 from seed is the fastest way to harvest. If you use an even shorter photoperiod, you won't find out what the strain is all about grown to its full potential.

So, it's best to test strains in an optimal environment. Your individual mileage may vary, but that's my way.

What difference's between 12/12 and 11/13 do you notice?

Here is the bean list I must choose from for some future grows. The only one I don't have any more of is the Blue Dream, its in the tent now. Plan to get some clones of the 4 strains in tent in the next couple weeks. What from the list have you grown and can give some info on?

Subbing up JustMeds. Your experimentation is fascinating. I read your RDWC build thread a while back when I was trying to understand RDWC and thought it was very well presented, and showed very clean design and implementation. I'm interested to see what you do with your arduino / raspberry pi setup, and whatever else you get up to.

Last night I gave them a Brix spray and gave the other 4 plants a quart of water with a small amount of IMO2 and some WCA and Yucca. They did not need a full watering as lower soil was still damp. The top layer was dried out to deep for my liking. I pulled the netting out for maybe another week. I re-lst'd them down then took pic, that is why they look a bit distorted. I will get a pic of them in a bit to show after adjustment to new bondage.

Got the Arduino to talk to the Raspberry pi and connect to database today. Maybe tomorrow will see if we can get some sensor values to transfer in.
