Jon's Sneak It In Auto Grow

I do remember. Your mother's plant originally, right?

That's one weird cannabis plant. Kind of like Freakshow, doesn't even look like a canna plant! :laughtwo:

I know it's really not a canna plant, but would be even more cool if it were.

I get tomatoes and other flowering/fruiting plants taking to pot nutes no problem, but I am very surprised a plant like this, which doesn’t even make flowers, has liked them so much.

Yes, mom attempted to murder her. Her green thumb is brown.

:laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

So I was out of skewers one day and was waiting on them and got impatient. So I “tied” down a couple branches with paper clips. I thought I had removed all of them but obviously missed these two. No removing them now, lmao!

Lesson: don’t use paper clips. Lol.

Your plants are so neatly trimmed I wish I could do that.
You can, @KeithLemon. You just don’t know it yet. One of my favorite tricks for indoor defoliation is to take a photo of a plant from directly above the plant. That picture is what your light sees. When you look at the picture, if you don’t see a bud cuz of a leaf, the light doesn’t see it either. It is a way to be more accurate and thrifty with what you take. Just one hint for you.

Great tip thanks I needed that, and I will try that as soon as it is not raining anymore. That tip is going in the notebook for sure. If I do not write this down, I will never remember it next year as I suffer from CRS Can't, Remember, Shit

The thing about defoliation, @KeithLemon, is this:

For every guy who does it like me there’s another who believes taking zero leaves the whole grow is the way to go. I can’t sit here and say my way is any better than anyone else’s. In my opinion it is the most subjective of all the basic skills. You kind of have to take everything people tell you, let it percolate for a while, then spit it out and see where you land. At the end of the day it comes down to what you’re comfortable with, and I see many a grower who would be way uncomfortable doing what I do.

The other thing is, defoliation differs depending on how you chose to train. For example, if I were growing say two big plants in the 5x5 and had decided to let them go or even do Sombrero training, you wouldn’t see me taking nearly this many leaves. I’d just take what was blocking light. Air flow wouldn’t be an issue in that scenario, whereas in what I’m doing now it is an absolute necessity or I’ll have a tent full of bud rot.

So I guess what I’m telling you is that my advice is to keep asking questions, keep gathering data, and keep doing what you’re comfortable with. That will change as you grow more and more - it’s a constantly evolving thing. You’ll find what works best for you. It’s a process.

Why, do you smoke marijuana or something?

Keep in mind, that is a technique I use for LED and indoor. Outside it’s different because the sun moves, so everything pretty much gets hit with light. My experience outdoors has been that less is more. And since your plants are the way they are, imo you’re in great shape. I’m not sure this trick will help too much in this particular case since you just did it. Give it a shot but keep in mind that you’re outdoors with this one.

Thank you, Jon, and for sure I will keep asking questions because I am doing just what you said trying to take it all in and go from there. I hope I do not bore people by asking to many questions and if I do, please LMK.

Ha! I’m the wrong guy to help you with that my friend. I go out of my way to be as annoying as possible. When I need info I need info. I’ll ask anyone anything. And I do. Often. Then I say stuff like “thanks for letting me pepper you with questions.” You won’t bore anyone Keith. Our community is based in part on helping others learn. Besides, think of like this - it’s kind of flattering when someone asks you a question, isn’t it? It kinda is to me. I always feel like, why are you asking me when there’s all these real growers here to ask? Lol! But it makes you feel good. And it does to others too. See what I’m saying?

Enter Pelonis

I knew I’d find a use for Pelonis if I bided my time! I got this fan three or four grows ago, when I had 7-8’ plants in the 9’ tent and needed to move some serious air. Only used her once, for that grow, as come on, she’s way too big for a tent. Still not sure how I pulled that off, lol. But here, maybe 15-18’ from the plants, and on the second lowest setting (the highest setting creates a gale force wind), it’s perfect. It diffuses a bit in that 15’, so in the end all the tops of the plants are getting a nice, gentle breeze. And the sound of the fan is like white noise, it’ll help me sleep. Lol!

Here’s the situation, and I blew up these photos and combed them to make sure I wasn’t giving away anymore than what my room looks like, which I could live with.:

That sucker is huge even in your bedroom!

That's helpful only if we know how many speeds it has. ;)

Looks incognito to me. More incognito because you're not peeking in the bathroom mirror this time. :) All I can tell is that your wheelchair just barely fits through the door.
