The rule I have always followed is 2% amber at the top. That is enough to know that the plant has matured, but not so much to produce intense couchlock product. Live and learn! Each grow will be better than the ones before it.
Emilya thanks, and honestly I am the exact same. That is my preference by a mile, as then you get the highest thc content, the lowest CBD which I don't care about, and the most "up" buzz, or what I jokingly call "coke weed." I want a head high, full of vigor and creativity, and as little "couchlock" as possible. I'm a musician and I enjoy playing so much more on an up sativa than a couchy indica. Just personal preference. And all the three plants I'm a bit disappointed in were at the 2% amber when I took them, maybe even 1%. However, I have learned that the harvest window is significantly longer than I realized in terms of how long it takes for the amber to multiply. My third CJ plant is two full weeks in the ground longer as of today than the CJs I already harvested. When I took the first two all three had the identical looking trichomes, and I could have taken all three then. I decided to let the one go and even now, two weeks later, the amber is not much more than it was. In the meantime the buds continue to swell and grow and get stronger and smellier. So live and learn, but I won't take them early again. I just want the autos to get BIG. With the scrog, trust me, I will be FAR more judicious and will harvest each strain from the scrog as it's exactly where I want it. No need to harvest the whole thing at the same time unless it just happens to be ready at the same time, which despite Humboldt's protestations to the contrary I HIGHLY doubt. Besides, I will want to know separate everything for the three strains in the scrog.

Thanks for the response. Have a great and productive day.

its also very important to check that very tip top bud, right at the top, for this 2% amber. Even the sunleaves directly below it will turn way before this one does and can fool you into an early harvest.

Ah...I didn't realize you meant specifically the very tip top bud. So that's the one that will turn amber last? Interesting. I would have thought exactly the opposite. Ok, cool, another solid reference point. THANKS!!

Final Yield Report
Cinderella Jack Auto #3

As usual, the yield is a double edged sword. I'm disappointed in the weight: 1 ounce and 1 eighth. It lost a lot more weight in dry/pre-cure than I expected. That said, it's the highest quality plant so far of the four harvested, BY FAR. Not even close. The density is incredible, as is the crystal formation. Smells and tastes cured already and in two weeks it'll really be humming. Most of this is pure head stash weed. Tastes and smells, so far, much like the other plants, but significantly sweeter. Stinkier too. And stickier. I credit this to leaving it go longer, and also the fact that this particular Cinderella Jack finished in the sun, which the other two did not. I can see now that they really pack on the density in the last ten days to two weeks, and if I harvest early I am costing myself quality at a minimum and yield as well.

So far of harvested autos, we're up to:

Gorilla Zkittlez: 1 ounce, 1 eighth
Cinderella Jack 1 & 2: 2 ounces
Cinderella Jack 3: 1 ounce, 1 eighth

The rest of these girls better get on the stick. Lol.

Enjoy. Can't wait to smoke this when it's cured.

Nice one buddy.. they look top notch ❤️

Agreed! You nailed it man :high-five:
Thanks! It's so funny I saw you talking about how you even cure your flarf. Lmao. I do too. I wouldn't have admitted that on here unless someone else did first. :laughtwo::laughtwo::laughtwo::laughtwo: But now that the cat's out of the bag, I gotta say why NOT cure your flarf? If you're not a distillates person (I'm not....yet) then you're either gonna smoke it or keefe it or maybe make butter with it and maybe all three, right? That's what I do with mine. I use it to feed my jones to smoke the good buds of whatever it is while they cure. So I keep the flarf, by strain, in the container you see in the picture. It's one of those kitchen containers with the push button in the middle that pulls the air out when it seals. They're clear, so you wouldn't wanna use them for actual curing of real pot. (I suppose you could if you kept them in the dark, what's the difference? It's at LEAST as good as a mason jar and they're clear....) But for the autos there's not enough flarf to justify anything more complicated than this. So this is the stuff from the Cinderella Jack #3 harvest I just documented that didn't make the scales. It's a combination of flarfy little buds and the trim from the buds of the CJ3. I show it for weight, and also to give you an idea of what I consider flarf. 22 grams, and I've smoked at least a couple more. So call it 24 grams I didn't even count in the weight. About three quarters of an ounce of flarfy buds. So the actual yield if you wanna look at it that way was closer to 2 ounces instead of one. 6 grams shy of 2 oz. I just don't count that garbage. LMAO. And then as I want to smoke this strain, I just grab a little tiny bud, (they're actually still pretty dense, even the real small ones, enough for one good bong hit or so), trim it up, and smoke it! It sits here right on my work table in the smoking station. Lol. By the time this is gone the actual CJ3 will be ready to enjoy.

Lemon Skunk #1 Autoflower Update
Day 71

No doubt the next auto in line, and knowing she just hit 70 yesterday, I did the close inspection/trichome check thing this evening on Lemon Skunk #1.

She is not nearly ready. I'm talking weeks yet. And I don't say that just from looking at the trichomes. You can see in the one bud picture especially all the new growth that is shooting out of the buds. This is happening all around on every bud, every day. They shoot out these little foxtails, and by the next morning, the little foxtail has become part of the bud as a whole, or almost. Certainly by the next day. Ever since I put them in the sun by day they have literally exploded, including this beast. And check out the tips of the buds. Still shooting out new growth daily and still thin like they aren't close to rounding out and closing up yet. This plant has weeks to go. And the buds are already huge. I can't imagine how big they're gonna get if I don't screw her up.

Enjoy the pics. It's pretty decent auto bud porn. Lol.

Solo Jelly Rancher
Grow Day 92
Flower Day 13

This girl is really starting to hum now. Some of her lower lighter colored leaves were bugging me so I flushed five gallons of water through her and gave her some yummy CalMag plus Iron and some regular nute routine. What I am finding in this overall grow is that flushing is almost NEVER a bad idea. My issues seem to continually be the result of nute lock beginning, so once I realized that I started staying on top of it and flushing more frequently. I am in an enviable position relative to flushing the way the garage, yard, hose, and my setup are all situated. It's really easy for me to flush. (Sorry, @Bud love, lol) And not once have the plants responded anything but really well to it. So I got this girl cleaned up for the most part and she is hitting at about 85%. Give her a few more days and I'll have her tuned in for real. But she does look pretty good, and for day 13 of flower those buds seem fairly fat to me. The tent is beginning to smell sweet. First smells to come from any of the photos.

Here she is:

Hehehe I'm glad we aren't the only ones who don't just throw all the larf away. I had plans for running ours through a butane extractor but that dream never materialized and we ended up smoking the leafy mess. Still did the trick too ;)

Now aren't you glad you didn't just throw her away
That Jelly Rancher sure has made a comeback!

She's become an astounding plant. One of the most beautiful plants I've seen live in person, and certainly the prettiest I've grown so far in my life. If she finishes as good as she looks right now it's gonna be pretty okay.
