Jon's Dedicated Fruity Pebble Cookies Grow Plus The Mystery Plant

Go for it! She's looking like she wants to grow big- well she's looking rather healthy ..so why not? Remember when you first started growing, the thought of loosing a plant was heartbreaking (well for me anyways). It's funny how when we get some experience and plentiful harvests we quickly forget that, especially with bonus seeds/plants lol
So true. I think losing my entire scrog on the second grow ever tuned me up for that. I had no choice but to learn to accept loss as part of this game.

How to UpPot a Seedling from Ground to Pot, Including step by step Pot Prep

Ok so I decided to pull the 24 Karat from the spent soil pile and put her in a pot. I chose a three for this. So here’s step by step, all of them. It’s long cuz I really tried to show each step. Here we go:

1. Empty 3 gallon cloth pot

2. Layer of perlite #3

3. Here’s the perlite

4. Layer of soil

5. Here’s the soil

6. Layer of bokashi

7. Here’s the bokashi

8. Layer of frass

9. Here’s the frass

10. Another layer of perlite

11. Another layer of soil

12. Much thinner layer of bokashi and frass

13. Dusting of Great White

14. Here’s the Great White myco

15. Mix activation water with FF Microbe Brew, FF Kelp Me Kelp You, Easy Weed Seaweed Supplement

16. Here’s the products

17. Water just prepped pot to runoff with activation water

Now the pot’s ready, and we tackle the seedling.

1. Our starting point

2. Using king bread knife, cut vertically as deep as possible in wide circle around seedling

3. Dig away dirt in front of pile as deep as you want the pile you remove to be.

4. Use knife horizontally to cut underneath at bottom of ball, making sure to completely free the dirt ball

5. Remove all extraneous dirt leaving just the ball to go in pot

6. Wet ball thoroughly so it stays together when it’s removed and put in pot

7. Carefully reach all the way under ball and with the other hand holding ball together, lift ball out and drop gently in pot

8. Shape, pat down, and generally get seedling where you want it

9. Backfill with FF Ocean Forest

There you go. Pot prep and a technique that should work for anywhere you happen to have a seedling sprout accidentally. Lmao.

Nice pictorial Jon! Unless you're blending in that first layer of perlite with the next layer of soil, I believe that you're shortening the pot because you're raised the perched water table.

If you're interested, check out @syenite's post on the "perched water table," with a great video demonstration as well! Start at 6:32 if you're pressed for time after reading the post. It shows how rocks raise the perched water table making for a shallower pot.

Here's a pretty in-depth page on it as well:

Thanks @InTheShed - that layer is about one rock thick. No worries.

Hi @Azimuth - I was thinking about your space issues and I wonder…you’ve seen Shed’s 47 gram Big Gulp. That plant would easily work in your situation. But make it a little better - how many 1-gallon pots could you fit? What about a SOG in Big Gulps or ones?

Morning @Jon! Awesome tutorials good job! Your trich pics look great too, I'm seeing some cloudy with Titan won't be much longer. Hope you're having a great day my friend.
Hi @BubbaKush909! Thank you kind sir. Yeah the new scope was a more significant upgrade than the price would indicate. I think it’s the larger lens and wider circumference, plus the ease of having the focus knob be large and going all the way around like a camera lens rather than a knob like the LED level knob. Much easier to hold steady on a bud, as you can see my focus is getting better. Thanks. And yeah I’d say we’re at about a week or less on Titan. Her buds are tightening up fast now and the white hairs are far fewer. The brown hairs have mostly turned a firey orange/red and anywhere it was deep green is somewhere between green and purple. There are also these rose notes of color in the flower as you can see in some pics. The purple will deepen for the last few days and they’ll be gorgeous buds. And dude to look at them live is to see trichome coverage I personally have no reference point for, and you’ve seen me grow some reasonably frosty bud. This is like the whole plant almost glows or something, it’s really spectacular live. I can’t wait to grow one in a 7 of coco instead of a 5, and in the big tent. See how vertical they’ll go. I’m going to do a dedicated Growers Choice XXL auto grow in the big tent with one of each of the 3 strains in 7s of coco. Heh.

Hey @Jon,

My space issues are as much about height as they are width and depth. Total flowering height is about a meter high and I like to grow with a perpetual harvest so going with a much bigger pot and training them wide and low doesn't help all that much if I want to fit three plants in the space (which I do). I do train them to fit into a 1 foot wide by 1.5 foot deep space, though.

This latest round I used a 1.5? gallon bottom watering pot to try out the new space and am pleased with the results. And, I'm now experimenting with the SIP (sub irrigated planter) concept. I've got a couple of 1L containers I just flipped yesterday and if that trial goes well I'll probably build one in a 2 gallon/8 Liter bucket. I could fit 6 of them in my space and still do the perpetual harvest, but that would be about the max I think.

But all of that would produce way more than I need so I'm not likely to push it all that hard.

Damn you wasted no time on that, eh? Grab some Humboldt Seed Co genetics while you’re at it. Lol!

That sounds awesome @Jon. I'm seeing with the Forbidden Runtz XXL the power of coco... she's nothing special size-wise for me so far. But I don't need huge yields and she'll be fine.

Could you please post a link to your scope again... I want to look at it thanks!

Hey @Carmen Ray - so now I have two seedlings, one in a three and one in our one. We water the same way in both right now. As the leaves outgrow the moat, extend the moat so it’s always just beyond the leaves. Once we have two sets we continue the same thing only to runoff. Wet - dry - wet - dry etc!

Cool?

Seedling Sunday Prayerfest

So already (less than 24 hours later) our 24 Karat is fully adjusted to her new digs and barely remembers what she went through yesterday afternoon. Meanwhile our little Pluto Runtz on day 6 is beginning to take off. Hey @Emilya, speaking of autos often lagging at the start - check out the 24 Karat. Her switch is flipped and you are now seeing the beginning of very rapid growth. The Pluto Runtz is a bit slow out of the gate too, right? It’s totally normal.

Here they are praying.
