Jon's Dedicated Fruity Pebble Cookies Grow Plus The Mystery Plant

More Fun with Infrastructure

The outdoor rig needed a door. I'm not going through the puzzle-piece stacking of various pieces of carboard every night at dark like I did last time. Unfortunately it has to be closed at night or I get emails from the HOA about the light shining across the pond into the houses across the way. So I created a nice, easy open, easy close, one piece door. Simply open it in the morning and close it at dark. Complete with four hinges which wrap around the cross pieces that hold the glass shelves in place normally. This thing works perfectly and makes my life 100x easier. All it is is clear packing tape, an old tent pole, a few twist ties, and a box cut and folded and taped to size.

Here's a shot of the door and a closeup on the hinges. Lol. The outdoor rig is now completed. In a couple days we should have a Bruce Banner auto living in there.

@Carcass would be proud!

What do the twist ties do?

Another week in the books.

Here's the garden on April 10th. Forgive Fulvia's droop, she just got two gallons of water. And the Jack is staying. She let me know not to use the hard Cal Mag anymore, and she's done with her spotty temper tantrum. It did work to shock the damn green back into her though. Heh. Jon - 1. Jack - 0. Two new nodes after the spots on 1/2 and 1 are nice and clean and much better green.

A bit of evening out of cola branches and nightly leaf tucking session, and this girl is set up as well as I'm capable for flower. In this picture her ring is clear, and I must confess I totally dig the way it frames the big two mains. This plant should look cool as hell in flower. Let's get this show on the road already.

Energy Redirection Day
Undercarriage Cleanup
Watermelon WeddingCake Auto
Mystery Plant (SPUDBC)

Time for a bit of cleanup.

We'll begin with the easier one. The WWC auto didn't have a ton of flarfy growth underneath. It didn't take a lot to clean her up. Now she's nice and pristine and should produce very little flarf.

Here's the cleaned up undercarriage.

And here's what came off to achieve that.

The Mystery Plant was a bird of a different color. @Azimuth, I went ahead and did it. We now have some sort of weirdo topiary pot plant. I'll be very curious to see what happens upstairs now. It was a rather extreme redirection of energy, especially to do all at once. A bit of an experiment for a plant that's been the subject of several. I'm going to have to start paying this girl. And that was quite the chop. I would expect her to basically recover from that for a day or three.

Here's the serious chop downstairs.

Here's what came off to achieve that. Whoa.

And finally, here's our topiary pot plant with her new look.

I'm having a blast today. Feels good to have something to actually DO. In other news related to this grow, the Pluto Runtz seed, after several days, has been abandoned. She simply didn't want to pop. I have one left, but instead of trying that one I switched gears to a Bruce Banner auto from Expert Seeds. No need to describe the BB to anyone here. This seed has already spent one day in a cup of water and Great White, and is now in the paper towel. I can see this one is going to pop shortly. So the outdoor rig is going to house the Bruce Banner auto. Yay!

Happy Sunday guys. Almost time to watch my Phils finish sweeping out the A's.
Very nice cleanup on isle 1!

And Jon, is this what you were asking about the other day?

Morning @StoneOtter - yes, I thought you had the same one as me. Mine is pretty much the same thing. Glad you get good results with that. I find it an indispensable tool. And thanks for the props on the cleanup!

If the FPC (the big one, Fulvia) decides she wants to triple in the stretch instead of just double I'm in trouble.

Lmao.

Morning @Bill284. Hope this Monday finds you well. So apparently your coco tutelage has worked pretty well. As you know, we sort of stumbled into it last time, with the 3s and all that, and getting ramped up in the midst of a big grow...I didn't consider that a real coco test. This grow I do. We started both Fruity Pebble Cookies and the Watermelon WeddingCake auto from coco in a Dixie cup, with appropriate sized pots this time, and in the same environment start to finish. I feel this is a much better gauge for me as far as what tent growing in coco is all about. This time I'm learning all about limits, and pushing them or not, etc.

Also, I will note that I found starting the seedlings in coco/Dixies to be *slightly* more challenging than starting them in soil. The way the coco holds water is trickier in terms of gauging when the seedling needs more water, or at least it was for me. I probably overwatered them in the very first couple waterings due to this. Good to know, now I get it.

So here she is today, right now. The plant is 46" off the floor, with the plant itself being 32". I figure I can let her get to 40" tall. Doubled, that's 80", or 6'8". Tripled it's 120", or 10 feet. My tent is 9 feet tall. Lol. So obviously I can't have her tripling in size. But the way she's trained (or not, really, just mostly a lot of topping), I fear more than a double. It's been my brief experience that a relatively untrained plant like this will stretch more than one trained like Elora.

If she goes 2 1/2 times her current height we're talking a plant of 80" and total height of 94", or 7'10". This would be the best case scenario, as I figured the tent can handle a plant just about 8' tall.

Honestly, it's been very rare for me to have any plant triple in size. Mostly they double or less. So I think I will be okay, and then if we have to get extreme, we have to get extreme.

So there you go Bill. After all that dumb math, we flip the tent when Fulvia is a 40" plant and 54" total off the floor. Regardless of the state of play of Elora or the Mystery Plant.

Cool. Another decision made. She grows about an inch a day, so we'll flip in roughly a week.

She's a BEAST. Hard to believe this is only day 41. If I were back in PA now this would be my starting plant for the monster outdoor grow. Perfect strain for it, especially if you get this larger phenotype. With this head start, and still a month before she'd go outside? I'd have me one of your Jack Herers!!! From what I see here, this plant/strain has the potential to get VERY large. I can't wait to see what kind of buds she makes. There isn't even one photograph of it anywhere!!! (pre-release seeds from Ethos, not even in the catalog yet!) Shit Bill, I literally could fill this 5x5 with this one plant, EASY. Maybe not in the 7, but I'm already seeing a one plant 5x5 in a 10 or 15 and trying for a record yield grow.

Anyway, here she is this morning. Damn if she isn't majestic. This is a front side view.

Here's a back side view.

And her sister Elora is no joke either.

40 inches my friend. 40 inches. Lol. Thanks for the ongoing education. :adore:

Fun With Kief

Last of the Apple Blossom trim got kiefed today. Man is it better when the leaves and trim are BONE dry. I got this from a relatively small pile of clip. I love how blonde the kief from the Apple Blossom turns out. It's the lightest in color of all the kief strains I have. It's also the strongest, although the kief from the hermie scrog is up there too. If I smoke a well-packed Perfect Pipe's worth of the Apple Blossom kief, I have to put my head down on the table for a couple minutes. It just slams you in the face and then your entire body. I try to only do it when my pain hits a certain point, so as to not trash my tolerance, as it's bad enough already.

Here's the haul.

Good morning my friend.
Hope you had a great weekend.
Garden looks great. :thumb:
Love a nice thick lady with bushy fans.
She would be perfect outside this summer.
I'd love to hit the pound per foot of height.
If I cut 4 feet of that 12 footer I'd have done it.
Been looking at greenhouses trying to decide what to do.
I might go wider instead of taller.
As a 14 foot tall greenhouse might draw some attention.
I've already bothered the township enough.
They own the little forest next to me.
So I'm leary of pissing them off.
I was thinking 8 foot and just spread them out inside nice and wide.
As far as your stretch goes I think all the topping will help her stay shorter.
But just an observation from my grows, nothing scientific so don't beat me up on that one. ;)
Especially if she triples.
Coco for the win.:cheer:
Have a good one.

Stay safe
Bill

A pound per foot of height? You mean 8 pounds from an 8 foot tall plant? Is that even possible?

I thought you had enough privacy with the greenhouse positioning to not attract anyone's attention, guess not quite. Maybe it is better to go around 8 feet and wide this time. The sun moves, so in the greenhouse it shouldn't really matter and you'll likely get better yield I would think. Man, I can't wait to see you back in action.

Yes, the topping likely will help, I thought so too, but I'm still just a bit leery as I see the rate of growth up top. And they were all topped. Heh. Whatever, the decision is made, no getting scairt now!!!! She ain't gonna triple anyway. No worries. Sort of. Lol.

It is fairly private but there is a well on the property beside us.
Owned by the town.
Supplies water to our little community in the north.
They come occasionally to check it.
So I asked permission before doing anything because if they come and check I'm right beside them.
Otherwise I'd have my 40 foot shipping container here already.
I really don't think they give a shit.
It's my own fault for asking.
If you ask they will read the bylaws to you.
I don't think they enforce them strictly but I already opened that can of worms.
I'm trying not to block the view of the water with it so I want to go right beside their property.
I'll figure something out.
Just need this feken snow to melt.

Changes all over the place!!!

I felt it was time to organize Gorillatown and create some more space for the FPCs. Fulvia needed room to play! So I'll just go through this pictorially.

First, here's a shot of the Zkittlez auto in real light before being relocated.

This is where she was relocated to.

And here's the obligatory blurple closeup. Enjoy it because you won't be seeing blurple pictures anymore. I intend to put this plant in the sunlight for as many hours a day as possible. Today is too windy for her size, so she stays in the rig. She's bathing at 520 ppfd as you see her in the picture. This is approximately the same level of light she was getting in Gorillatown at her height. She needs water, and I'm going to water in a small amount of GeoFlora veg, bokashi and frass as top dressings today just to boost the Sohum a little. Heh.

This is a picture of our intrepid Jack Herer auto on the mend in real light. She's looking much better. She is now back in the tent on a bucket, the large support container was no longer necessary, a bucket is much more space efficient.

Here is the newly rearranged Gorillatown after the changes from the front.

And here's a back side view. Fulvia now has all the space she wants.

That was all stage prep for the impending flip of the FPCs and the Mystery Plant. When that happens we have to figure out what we're going to do with Jack, as she won't live in the tent anymore. If she's only going to get 12/12 in the tent, I may as well let her finish outside. That's likely the plan with her, it'll be interesting to see how an auto does on 12/12 for most of it's life, as the outdoor light cycle is basically about that. Be a smaller end plant I suspect, but the quality shouldn't be affected.

Lots of work the last two days. My blood is pumping. I feel like I'm actually growing again.

:woohoo:

Hey jon :Namaste:
My wife always says I don't know when to just shut up so please don't be mad.
But I can't take it much more. :Namaste: :Namaste:
That moving blanket and cardboard box are really making me nervous.
That blanket over the light especially.
I know necessity is the mother of invention.
And we all do the best we can with what we have.
But a fire there would block an exit and possibly do major damage.
I know your enjoying yourself and I hate to be a downer.
I just think it's a risk that isn't necessary.
Do you have anything not so flammable you could rig in place?
Love ya Buddy.

Stay safe

Lol. I love you man. I'm way ahead of you. First, the light simply doesn't get that hot. It doesn't even get hot enough to melt the duct tape holding it to it's support pole. Secondly, the blanket is already thoroughly sprayed with a fire retardant spray my step dad found somewhere. Also, the cardboard is just cardboard, and it never gets anywhere near the light, even with the door closed. And lastly, that blanket can't get any closer to the light. But I will try it without the blanket on top. That's the only part worth the tiniest bit of worry, and it's really not even. But I will try it tonight without the blanket - maybe all the light will go down and it will be dark enough above the light that I don't need it. Cool? Feel better?

Thanks man, I appreciate you having my back.

Wasn't the box more the blanket and being by the door.
It made me nervous as soon as I saw it.
Hope he was outside when he sprayed that fire retardant, cough cough.
Glad your not pissed I brought it up.
And I don't want you to fek up your set up.
Just wanted to make sure your on top of possible issues.
Big tin foil hat , it already looks like R2D2. ;)

Take care. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Bill you'll have to do a lot better than that to piss me off. I know you're just looking out and it's fine, I'd never get upset over someone giving a shit about me!!! Especially you, dummy.

Ok, NOW we're having fun!

Smoking the Strawberry Banana gets my creative juices flowing.

I was thinking about training out the top of the Mystery Plant, but I just couldn't bring myself to do the whole 12 sticks, tape, twist tie thing. Just too much work for this plant. Lol. But then McGuyver got an idea.

If you would like to tell me why this will not work to help with the canopy please do. But I'm betting it will. I betcha nobody has seen it done quite like this before, lmao. I'd tell someone they were crazy. But what the hell, let's see what happens. We'll let this stay like this for a while and see how things shake out.

Heh.
