These mains are gonna be impressive.
For those wondering about res management:
1. Returned from vacation. That day I filled the res for the first time. Before that was all building roots in the upper and lower pots up top. This was a few days before she went to flower. I filled it to the fill line with 5.8 nute water using the appropriate week of the
@Prescription Blend feed chart at 100% concentration.
2. Between then and yesterday I never changed the res. I let the runoff from upper watering continue to keep the res filled and used ph Up/Down to keep the Ph at 5.8. The res sits directly in front of the AC output on that side which is how I am maintaining temperature, and there’s an air stone in play as well.
3. I ran out of PB nutes and while I’m waiting on the new ones I went two days with a made up mixture that attempted to approximate the totality of the PB feed using whatever I had. That worked fine. Forget the scale, but my baseline with the PB nutes in the res in terms of TDS was around 118. With my custom mix it went to 185 and they handled that increase just fine (all the plants are getting this).
4. Then I remembered that I had squirreled away an entire set of
@Blue Planet Nutrients Elite series. So I mixed 10 gallons of the BP nutes (also mid 180s) and yesterday changed out the res entirely for the first time.
5. So now I’m going to finish them with the Blue Planet nutes instead of the Prescription Blend, only because the BP mix is much hotter across the board (185 to 118), and they seem to be loving it since the change. Seems like they have exploded.
6. I check TDS and PH in the res daily. It always goes down, but stays fairly close to mid 180s due to the constant fresh runoff replacing eaten water. When I changed the res yesterday I PHed it to 5.5 and am letting it rise.
7. All of the above I would be totally clueless about were it not for one of my Sensei’s:
@Rexer. Thanks Rex!!!
So far so good. I have two upper pots completely full of roots, a bottom pot in water full of roots, and roots growing rapidly into the outer res all over the place. It must be working. Lol.
