John's Wicked New Grow

Welp..... unpopular opinion, monster crops can be grown without a meter, but not without awesome new lights.

:thumb:

Just MHO

Next month, hopefully the new light will get ordered.
Being responsible sometimes sucks.
Thank you for your opinion, Preston.
I sure wanted a shiny new awesome light. :green_heart:

Thank you. Emilya is checking if the lactobacillus will do the trick.
I hadn't thought of the cat trying to go after it. Lol. The fish fertilizer I am making will be fairly odorless.
Sorry the Teddy came after you for that. If I recall I played along with the the thread too. I think that it can be a fine line of joke and harm. I personally go for the joke. Thank goodness I have never had anyone ever try to harm me like that. So I go for the joke.
Sorry if I offended anyone joking along.
I hope the slap on the wrist was on your good hand!

Teddy was very nice and polite and I humbly apologized if I gave the wrong impression. I would never ever imply anything about rape and truly apologise if anyone thought that.

Honestly.... I bought a Ph meter about a year ago.... i used it to check my tap water, then to check my nutrient mix.

Did this like 3 times & realized it ain't changing. I haven't used the meter since.

I guess i get it, for people who have a fluctuating water supply, but MHO is... once you know your mix, the meter becomes obsolete.

The same questions can be answered with pH test strips.... every few months.

Sorry... had to play devil's advocate
:Namaste:

My pH sometimes varies. I used rain water in 6 -100 gallon barrels. (Food grade)
I uncover the barrels before the scheduled rain.
The things that make the pH vary in when the T-storm hits it's usually with some wicked wind that blows pine needles and other stuff that can vary the pH in each barrel.
Otherwise, the rain water would be exactly the same every time.

Ok my serum is 4 days with the milk. Nice curd on top.
Everything I read said the lactobacillus isn't going to kill these because they are immune to it and/or these particular caterpillar gave a distinct system.
The Bt is on now.
When should I finish my lactobacillus serum? And when to spray it on?
Everything you have read, except for my words. The lacto wont kill the worms themselves, but it will break the lifecycle and kill the larvae. I am using it right now in my large backyard tomato garden, every year plagued with large tomato worms, until 2 years ago, when I started using lacto.
I swear by 3 natural remedies in the garden, lacto on the leaves, mint in the house to drive away spiders, and pine bark mulch to stop gnats and whiteflies.
Let your lacto sit for a few more days and you will see that more of the yellow liquid forms. Anytime you wish you can drain off that layer and start using it... remember to add molasses to stabilize it and then dilute it 40:1 to spray it on your plants or for tennis shoe odor control. :)

I just watch a bunch of people around here, throw out $$$ recommendations. Which is cool. Properly monitoring a grow is key to perfection.

Buuuuut.... (devil's advocate hat)
I've had a run with 2) $100 HPS lights, and about $60 of nutrients, yield just under 4lb. In a 6X8.

Lights are key! Followed by climate....

...once again, MHO... but, I don't think "fancy meters" are gonna improve my grow, thus.... not worth my $$$

I lurk these journals on a daily basis. The biggest trend I've noticed is people "over-loving" their plants into headaches & trouble...

Hell, Preston. Where were you yesterday ? :hmmmm:

I really wanted someone to twist my arm. Lol

Next month, "Let there be more light's"! :snowboating:

I think there's a lot of truth to that Preston.

I just think about all the people on these forums who end up having pH problems that they didn't anticipate, and I smile at this conversation. Yes, new lights are super cool, I have some myself and love them. But just in case you get in trouble with those new powerful lights and need to diagnose what is going on, wouldn't a meter be a good thing to have on hand? Get your basic tools... then upgrade.

But not everyone has pH issues...

Sorry sometimes I can be a little thick. I need to be proactive. I will do regular foliar spraying to get them before I even know they are there. Duh! Told ya I am new to this lol. Thanks for your patience

I really wanted someone to twist my arm. Lol
Truth be told I would have said go for the light buuuuut...
Sp250 - Great light! Not arguing that and if i had to for a bargain, i would.
But ffs MH!!
Its just a fucking switch or a 5 pence button, a friggin dial or knob, but the 250 means pounds cash money to us brits and if im paying that i want a simple low power option. (That doesn't require having at it with a screwdriver...)
Not sure why but this level of inconvenience is so blatantly obvious as to be on purpose so winds me up o_O)
Soz about that, i need a smoke.)

"over-loving" their plants into headaches & trouble...
Guilty of it myself fella - new parent syndrome.
My next grow is gonna improve because of it. Much more aware of the root zone in terms of what ive done when i overwatered, my veg n flower girls got first good drink in 5 days.
(Almost thankful for gnat problem for making me hold off with water )
Case in point.

Maybe you have already but try reaching out to MARS with your suggestion. They have good ears and are always willing to listen to the consumers suggestions. I don't want to tag Sara for it but send her a PM and see what she says. Maybe the next gen will have one because of your input. smokesara is her member name here.

Hey there @MrSauga , unfortunately i followed another member asking her about dropping the power, her reply was a video on some guy pulling off the meanwell driver to get to a screw located in one of two holes (make sure its the right 1, or else) on the heatsink side of driver and then requires some meter to test.... Blah blah.
Sorry, but i was out the second i saw the driver come off.
Anyways, enough of my stating the obvious.

JW how is the cat....?
Did you order the new meter btw?

Hey John. Good to see it all rocking along for you. Is the smoke test in on your low and slow LB yet? Looking forward to that. I was planning the low and slow, but MIL dropped on us and so I had to work fast. Next time.

Hwy Wankir,

While you're at, please tell her that giving us a choice to either leave the driver in the tent or a different cord to keep the driver outside the tent needs to be addressed. Thanks man.

The cat still well because you probably saw the huge dog cage I put my small girl's in so the girl's can more sun.
The cat can't get to them anymore.

Yrs, the voted told me that the oh meter won so I got than same one that Ms. V recommend, Aspera ph 60, with a replacement tip' s. Got from Axon for $80.00 shipped. Great deal!

not yet, it's pretty dry in the fridge, now it's almost time to finish it in the jelly jars.

I love the sp250 but it bothers me it doesn't have a low power switch...
I know the meamwell unit comes with has a screw hidden amongst it.
But a low power switch is glaringly absent- get the ph metre JW...
Unless you have more space to install into?!

Let's both send (@)SmokeSara a private message asking for a switch and
longer driver cord, so I don't have the heat build up in the tent.
I thought those are two major flaws that can be improved very easy.I
Mars-Hydro all the way ! :thumb:
