I just put the dog outside to do their business and look what I found, those little white streaks that's snow coming down.
I didn't paint the deck white either.
Thing's I have to deal with for my plastic straws.

Poor girls, they never saw it coming.
Killed in flower. :(
 
The weather report said low 50's and maybe rain.
Sadly I have to say that these three girls are the first that I have killed from when I first started growing (1978-present)
Rest in peace girls. :rip:

If you're east of me it's coming your way so far I have 2-3" on the ground.
Weather report says that it will possibly have light snow showers tomorrow too.
I think for Minnesota this may be a record breaker.
Unless I'm wrong our first snow was on Halloween many years ago.
Now I'm pushed harder in the work load around here:
Put plowed on JD tractor, lube up snow blower and eventually
replace plow wth that.
The girls were doing great in the cold and I was hoping for another week before I chopped them, bud wash and made some kind of oil with them.
Any ideas?
Can I still use them for anything?
Ideas welcome.
 
I was using the girls outside as a experiment,
First, I was using my well water that came out 9.4 pH and of course had to fix that.
Second, I wanted to see if they would go a complete cycle, they didn't.
The one great thing I found out is that the iron in my well water didn't kill them as long as I adjusted the pH.
In fact, I think it made them tougher. LOL.
 
Ahh damn! Are they dead dead? Or still salvageable? Damn that sucks man!!

all those funny jokes, just to flip the page and get disappointing news!
 
Tough luck on the weather and hopefully something is salvageable from them!

So here's the new plan.
The reason that they went our is because they were infested with aphids and I couldn't take a chance of them spreading to the one's inside my 4x4.
Until the weather took a turn for the worse, beautiful lady bugs came to their rescue.
So I just ordered 1,500 ladybugs and they should be here 22-25.
If everything goes right and the LB arrive live, my plan is to bring them into my small first tent and finish them off with my MH lights.
Please send good vibes and hopes that everything falls into place.

These girls deserve a second chance. :green_heart:

If you have never received a container of lady bugs they do come alive
but normally they are kept cold so they Hibernate a bit Once they are warmed
up they get very active

No I haven't, have you ever used bug's to get rid of bug's, of so can you give me some tips?
 
I'm going to put some in the main tent just in case.
Has anybody ever used good bug's to prevent future problems?
I don't ever want to go through thick again, they creep me out.
 
Cool that they're still alive!
That snow might kill off most of the aphids- when the weather cools off here (40's) aphids are no longer a problem.
Your plan to move them inside should work like a charm!

I've used ladybugs outdoors-the problem is that they don't stay around for very long....
It seems like they eat their fill,then move on.

I read that they can do both.
I'm concerned about ventilation set up.
I have screens on the outside of both intake and exhaust, but I think I'm going to have to put a screen on the inside of my 8" exhaust.
I don't want to sick them into the duct and grind them up with the fan.
I'm lookin for any ideas here folks, this is uncharted territory for me

I've noticed spider mites pull the leaves together and make cones out of them. Ugly nests of them inside usually. If you have prime order 'American lady bugs'... I mentioned somewhere else they eat about 30x their weight in a day. Prepare a solution of sugar water in a mist bottle and soak the undersides of the leaves right at lights off. Release your lady bugs onto the sugary prepared leaves in darkness... and prepare for carnage. If you don't want them crawling out place screen material over your intake and output within the tent... these aren't your normal small ladybugs. They're 2 times bigger than any I've seen flying around in new england... these things are crazy. I've watched them eat a line of aphid eggs... then the aphid moments after it had lay them on a leaf. Mites are so small 100 or so of those ladybugs could end a single plant infestation in a day. Then stick around to clean up the topsoil. They really fascinate me everytime...

No,I haven't -I haven't had any bugs indoors (yet)
except for a few soil gnats early on,but I got rid of them
by the second week of my current grow.

We have seen people use them indoors. You just need an alternative food source just case you dont have enough active bugs for them to feed.

The filter thing on the inside would be a good idea.


Also, if you dont mind seeing them around the house, you should be fine.
