Thats another thing the guy in the shop was saying to me about the 'rosin method' CA mentioned. couldnt remeber the name. He was saying to put a bud between cook paper(i think) and its best with a GHD with heat settings. The oil leaks out around the bud after a good heat pressing and then u scrape it off the paper. Basically its that straight foward. Easy doing for a test try and the hit shoould be nice

Not a problem at all buddy, I am using a porcelain hair straightener with a temp around 330F~. I tried multiple nugs with not a great yield, so I then opted for my kief. When I did this I was completely blown away..! I have found my new way of medicating, rosin dabs, from there my grinded herb takes a trip to my vaporizer, then, the vaped buds are making their way into organic coconut oil for capsules. No waste here! And very safe.

Haven't heard from yah J6k, thinking you might have a hair straightener in your hand at the moment

I used an IR thermometer to check the temperature, it was bouncing within 10 degrees +/- from 330F. I'm sure the temperature is also strain dependent but shooting for the 330F seemed to work with the 4 different strains I kiefed/pressed

Positive vibes J6k! Stay toasty, kick that crap! For colds I make a trip to the store and pick up tons of fruit and a couple veggies for smoothies, usually helps if you're able to/feel like consuming.. make sure to sprinkle a couple pressed rosin chips in the blender as well Stay safe 420 team

I just wanted to jump on and let everyone know Im feeling quite better and have an up-date with a ton of pic's but have found out this morning that the Ole Lady has mis-placed my Memory Card.....She say's it's in the house which is a good thing.I have lost one in the drive way before.lol.I did do the rosin thing and think it's a beautiful thing and Im gonna really love it once I get the tech down and of course the hash/Kief.Thank you CA for bringing this to our attention.I will talk more about my first rosin attempt and where I went wrong and how we can improve.
That's good to know D.Weird that the only fill bottle half way.Would't think a few oz would matter much to them but for 15 buck's,your right you cant beat it..

Good Morning 420mag'ers...
So I did not find the memory card I thought I was looking for.lol.
It had harvest pic's of the second NLxBB...It will show up one day.lol..This NLxBB was not weighed wet but has not been tampered with either.So I'll have an accurate dry weght on her.She had some very good sized cola's,I left in tact also and will get some pic's today.I'd say tomorrow she will be dry enough to weigh out and stick in jar's.
I do have a few pic's of some bud's of from the first NLxBB we chopped.

Ok,now for my first attempt at rosin.I will say it is gonna take some practice to get it down pat.
First I started with a piece of dry ice extract from last trim process.It did not even register on the scale's.

I broke half that up in to crumbles and laid it in the parchment paper like I was rolling a J.

Got the Iron up to temp..

Folded paper in half and pressed for a good 5 second's..

and it looked like this..Not good..I don't think.

I scraped it up while it was still gooey..another mistake I think..

So I knew I did some thing wrong.So I then took the other half chunk I had left over and kept it in tack.

Now I thought that I had burned that last run because it was so dark and spread out so much.(Im wrong 330 is where you need to be.)
So I dropped the heat a bit..

again folded in half and pressed for about 5 second's.

I then scraped that and pressed again.

Sorry but that's all the pic's I could take at the moment and I smoked it before getting to take any more.
But what you see in last pic...I let sit for a bit maybe 1/2 hour to an hour,then started picking at it and was able to get it of in some what of a sheet.It was still a bit sticky but workable.
As for the High...For some one who has never truly smoked any extracts other then dry ice kief/hash whatever you want to call it..
The high was Incrediable.
My first impression what..What is this little bit of shit gonna do?lol..Ok.so Im not using any kind of rig as I was told not to waste money on one if I don't know if I like it..Good advice...There pretty pricey compared to a normal glass piece you would buy to try a your freshly cured bud's with(8$ one's).I used a small bong with a normal sized bowl.I took a new screen and placed it right on the top rig of the bowl piece.Not pushing it completely down,just kind of hoovering.I then took a piece of the rosin and placed it on top of the screen and hit it with a flame.I used a lighter but have been informed some hemp wick work best better and will taste better.
So anyway,Im watching it bubble and hittin her hard boy..and thinking..Im not getting a hit...So It's bubbled away and Im holding it with ease like it was just a big gasp of air.I then exhale and see a huge cloud of something I have not tasted before.
So clean,best I can describe it would be a good hit of scissor hash X 10..
After exhale and being surprised by the cloud of smoked I started the whole mouth smacking and lip licking ,staring at the ceiling trying to figure out what taste so damn good,and then just started smiling to myself...and then a few good laughs.(Im by my self.lol)
My very next thought was..Gotta get some more trim processed.lol.I was feelin giddy for awhile and stoned yet still able to function as I normally would with out smoking a bowl every half hour..Lasted a good 2hr's.
I do not recommend following this as it was my first attempt.Im working on getting trim processed as we speak and will be doing the rosin tech again for sure.Even with the mistake's I made I was pleased with how simple it was and I would recommend anyone who has been wanting to try concentrates try this..

Hash looks good, nice color. When you do what your doing are going to "Dab" it on a titanium nail or just smoking it like regular hashish ? I do not let the hash heat up to much when I do this prior to doing a Dab of hash as some of what I make turns out to be what some folks refer to as full melt.

I found that a 5 gallon ( all I need) or larger washing machine works the best. I have tried making hash by hand, with a spoon, with a hand held drill and attachment and the washing machine is by far the highest return and potency from my experience. Completely worth the 150-200 dollar price.

Good read there J6k, funny how a little rip of that stuff results in an amazingly clear headed, euphoric state. Haha I think I was also getting giggly on my first few rips due to the effects of the extractions, and now having that process and its simplicity at my finger tips.. it's endless.. I now have a personal goal of pressing out and collecting a half oz of nice clean rosin for a killer looking patty

I think the second press with the single unbroken piece is the way to go, the better you are able to keep the kief/hash together the less contaminates that will be sitting around that outer portion where the oil will be forced to flow. Give her that hard squeeze/press for 4-5 secs and we're golden, pun intended!! The 25 micron pressing screen works extremely well but it wants to wick some of the oil in the process. I am going to try using the small micron metal bho strainers in lieu of the 25 micron screen next attempt, see if that excess oil can be salvaged. Try pressing with different temps, maybe not as low of 300F but 310-330F(ish).. my girls hair straightener varies and jumps aprox. ~10F from the set temp, and keep in mind that the different strains might act different with heat. Fun stuff real glad you enjoyed it brotha

I don't have a rig for smoking dab's at the moment,but if I can get this rosin tech down,Ill surly invest in one.For the first attempt of rosin that you see in the pic's,I smoked out of a bong.
As for the hash or making of hash.I have done the bubble hash by hand and hated it.I have never used a washer machine tho.
They look like they work pretty good.Actually I think KJC uses one.

Yea,I thought the chunk pressed out a bit better also.I don't have a micron screen.I don't think.lol
I do have a screen that look's identical to the one in your journal but mine does not say 25 micron on it.
It came with a set of bubble bag's I got.
I believe that different strain's would act a bit different.As for me though,I'm using trim that was all mixed with a few different strain's and different flowering lengths.So when I do a bag of trim I end up with a few different color's.
I'll show ya what we have to play with.
I ran 3 bag's.I had all ready done a run so 1 was not pictured.

The 2 on the right are 1st run,the 2 on left are 2nd run.Notice the different color's on the first run stuff.They came from 2 different bag's of trim.Same with the greener second run pile's.2 different bag's.3rd little pileis just what I scraped off the glass in between run's.

When using this dry ice method..Thing's do tend to fly around a bit.Notice the line where the glass was sitting on the towel.All over spray.lol

As you can see we have quite a bit to practice the rosin tech with..

It's been a while since I have updated the girl's and quite a bit has changed so I'll get an update of them up tomorrow morning.

That's to funny.With the dry ice method you are basically freezing the tric's and knocking them off using a shaking method and sound's a bit brutal at first.Soafter your shaking for a bit you will notice the kief as slowly not coming out like it did when you first started.That's the point where I stop and scrape it call it 1st run.The second run you will notice is much greener due to beating the veg matter off the leaves.You really don't want this.So that explain's the color's.I normally mix all the 1st run stuff so I don't know if there is a difference.It just taste like good hash.This round I will keep them separated and then I'll know better of the taste and high each will give.

No,I don't keep separate I just fill and then grab another.I wanna say that the darker colored first run was most likely from a plant with more amber tric's then the bag of yellower first run.It's most likely a mix of strain's tho.

Since chopping the 2nd NLxBB.That free'd up some room in the HPS tent.So I moved the C.K and NLXBB Monster clone-screen out of the flowering GreenSun/Topled tent and in to hps flowering tent.Greensun/Topled tent now a veg tent again..

In the far corner is the NLXBB (auto)
on left is the Purple train wreck

NLxBB..Day 37 ..12/12..Today I snipped(just white hair's) every outer branch/bud top as an attempt at back building.Not the bud's in the Pic's.
