Jgrowlove's 50 Fire Strain Hunt: 1000W HPS

I don't use conventional venting I go "barebulb" so I have to rely on a.c. I either get a better a.c or switch to cobs. I still might need more air flow tho. Thanks twox. I'm excited to try out some new genetics
I'm fighting temps had to drop 2 hps but hoping the cool tube reflectors I just bough keeps me under 30

I run bare bulb too. But I dump all the air in the grow room once every 50 seconds. Hence at a 1000 watts I don't have a heat issue.

I don't think COB's will impress you.

Cheers

So how do you figure how much air I'm changing per min in a 3x3 x7 with a 435cfm ?

3x3x7 is 63 cubic feet.

Therefore 435 / 63 = 6.9

So the air in your space would be replaced 6.9 times per minute. Just a bit over kill.

Cheers

Well I loose a bit of the Cfm as Its 6" reduced to a 4" to vent outside , plus now I've attached the veg tent and it's pulling the sides in on both tents lol - well at least I know I'm changing that air !

Anybody get a different kinda high from freshly harvested bud. MOC Carnival knocking my socks off after only week long cure.

Hahahaha... one of the benefits of growing... you get the freshies. Just gotta be careful, some strains can kick your ass fresh. Do like I do, freshies till ass kick, then dial back a hair or 2! :smokin:

Looking good the J - congrats on harvests.

Don't worry too much about yields. Some strains a big yielders and some are not but yield high THC.

One of my best yielders and good meds was Kimbo Kush. The plants get big. Sometimes in a small space a big plant is hard to deal with even with a larger space indoors in containers large plants usually create challenges ... either pot is too small, or space is tight and then growing into the lights.

I usually average 3-4 zips dry per plant every 55 days or so in organic soil in 7gal pots.. run 10 plants a cycle. I much prefer a shorter harvest time to larger plants... sometimes I get both at the same time but thats not the usual. Lighting makes a difference in yields as well.

Since I went COB tech some plants are taking advantage but not all. I'm happiest when not working too hard. So when pests show up ... easier to spot earlier with more room around the plants.

Cheers

Thanks for the great info bobrown. I'm looking forward to improving my environment so I can get the best product from my future grows. I will sadly be finishing off this journal with a few pics of my favorite plant to grow to date Special kush #1 who is in week 4 in flower followed by a royal medic which is also in week 4

I've recently received the horrible news that my aunt has been diagnosed with breast cancer and I am currently in the process of looking for strains that are have high medicinal properties to help fight the cancer and deal with the side effects of chemotherapy. I will be starting a new journal at some point when I can get things cleaned up and reorganized. I appreciate all who have helped me along the way. Without the helping hand of the members of 420 mag I would not have been as successful during my first few grows and I am forever grateful. I will focus on finding medical grade medicinal strains for my next task and again any suggestions are welcome as always. Look out for a "Growlove And Heal The Wounded" journal very soon. I have been keeping this journal for over 7 months and have learned so much and am happy that I opened up and will continue to visit as many journals as I can. Administrators do your thing I can't finish my 50 strain hunt but I will be back very soon. As the great NCW says Keep Em Green!

Do you have Dutch passion's White Widow in your collection. Smoking some of the pre-harvested plant. I was lucky since it's so insanely potent even two weeks before the scheduled chop. Anyway - The high is nice and cerebral. It makes you warm and fuzzy in the head and body. It's one of the most fantastic highs there is in the world of cannabis. That's why it was a favorite of mine Smoking this brings me straight down memory lane to the 90's Amsterdam. It's also a nice long lasting high. Anyway :) Morning!

I see you have the Royal Queen version of White Widow. wonder if they're the same? The original came from Shantibaba (greenhouse seed co) and Arjan

And this is where the story gets interesting:

"Shantibaba sold his half of the Green House Seed Company to Arjan in 1998 and left for Switzerland to form the Mr Nice Seedbank in collaboration with Howard Marks and Neville Schoenmaker. Dispensing with the somewhat theatrical tactics of his former partner turned competitor, the master breeder Shantibaba then concentrated on supplying growers with superior quality strains from both old and new world genetics. The exceptional quality of his products can hardly be disputed by anyone. He started breeding the Widow under the flag of his newly formed brand and gave it the name Black Widow since the name White Widow was already being marketed by Arjan over at Green House Seeds"

So the most "real" White widow in 2017 is sold under the name Black Widow. Anyway - I heard that Dutch Passion also hold the original genetics but....

"Today almost every breeder and seed bank sell seeds that they claim to be the original White Widow. In 1996, both the Nirvana and Dutch Passion seed companies purchased a single pack of White Widow seeds from Shantibaba himself at the Green House Seed Company and within a year released their own versions of the Widow. Undoubtedly all very potent and nice plants, the question whether or not all the White Widow plants on the market today can actually be considered pure remains highly speculative since the only true parental stock remain in the sole care of Shantibaba and the Mr Nice Seedbank. Why so many different breeders claim to have personally invented this strain is puzzling although understandable due to its commercial success. New breeders keep emerging, claiming authority over the White Widow strain. There can, however, be only one truth, however hazy it has become over the years."
