I never get tired of looking at that canopy
and i think... some day
Thank Crash! Its super easy. 1 topping at the 4th node but waited till it got to the 6th. At the same time I removed the 1st and second nodes. The more vitality the plant has when topped the faster the recovery and response.
Then I only used 4 wires per plant to lst the 4 main branches.
Each day I lightly held down the tallest branches until they stayed where I wanted them (no wires).
The rest of the training was acquired through selective defol.
I use defol slow more rapidly growing branches and also to speed up the vertical growth of other branches that may be lagging.
This training is simple and very low stress but requires at least daily attention. If growing in coco and manually feeding daily (what I do) its just an extra step after watering.
The "push down" training lessens stress, I believe, over traditional lst because I feel the pressure from all the wires overall affects the vascular system slightly. Not much but if 20+ wires are used I feel it has an effect. Every little bit counts.
The 4 wires per plant are needed to keep them growing dead horizontal.
Hope that helps any looking for a symmetrical even canopy with low stress.
Update coming later when the sun comes up .
