Jandre2k3's Intelligent-Gro Testing: Phase 1

Hey Jandre!! Just dropping by to see how things are going. Wow your girls have doubled in size since last time I was by here!!! Wow! very nice looking plants!!! keep up the great work!!

Thanks for checking in! Yeah, they all had some red stem goin on... I lowered the pH to 5.5 and it cleared right up and POW! away they went.

The Par Curve - The Learning Curve

In this picture, we have a nice, wonderfully healthy leaf.

And in this picture we have a (ahem) not so healthy leaf.

Now- Believe it or not this is from the same plant off the same stem. Healthy was not directly under the light, and not-so was dead center under the left group of LED's about 10" away.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. I was tasked by the sponsor to experiment with the "Minimum Distance" to find where the fry point is. A little phrase coined by me, "fry point" I think, by the look of this one, vs. the look of the first one, the minimum distance is going to be somewhere around 14" to 16". A full 10" to 8" closer as set by the manufacturer. This means a better par in the sweet spot, and better par in the periphery. Now to see how to measure it. I might just have to go to the site and do some dizzying math. . . .:cheesygrinsmiley: HORRAY! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Alright... now for the canopy pics! Notice the bleaching in the center, and as you can see, there's **plenty** of headroom for upward expansion.

damn too much thinking your making my head hurt
Looks great nonetheless Jandre :thumb:

They are looking great Jandre!!!! Great job on "sacrificing" your girls leaves to test the distance for the lights! They will recover fine but its good to know that the distance away matters :) I think right now my Igro's are sitting about 14" away from the canopy and they are doing great!! Very nice looking bushy plants you have!!!!

The Lighting Schedule

Distance testing nearing completion, GLR is underway in both MK2 and the iGro box, as of right now. that schedule is as follows:

((SUNNY SETTING - 24 hours))
ON: 18:00
OFF: 06:00
ON: 11:30
OFF: 12:30

We have all grown to know and love the flower flip time of GLR, so you know about how close we are to going to flower. We're gonna veg the rest of the way as high as we dare, and remove the hour during the day to head into flower. That's probably only about 3 weeks out.

{rubs hands together} I'm getting excited to see how these lights perform in flower.

Im curious as to how it will perform in flower as well considering half the panel is flowering and half is for veg. I personally wouldnt want to reduce the wattage the plants are getting

Actually... it will still be getting the same amount of light for the peak of the day, but the ratios leading up to the peak are different in Flower from Veg. More reds leading to the peak of %100 for all channels, then more red in the afternoon to sunset phases.

Early Observation:

Node length, on average, is about 1.5" under this LED on these 24" plants.
Node length, on average, is about 3" under the T5/LED Flood lights in the other box.

Okay, so good veg potential here... Slightly impressed

A new thread,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Sorry I've not shouted out in awhile. I see your still doing your thing. Tent looks great. I seen ya say tingling fingers? Well you know I broke my fool neck so I can understand all about that. I got that from my C-6 vertebrae on down to my feet. Nerve damage is a bitch but........ life,, and can't change a lot of things. You do get alittle technical for me, but it works for you. But if you like to test things there is never enough info saved. I'm lucky I remember the date plants start to flower anymore. But I'm doing alittle testing myself. Not on products or anything, just acouple strains. Looking for a 'Good, Big Yielder, and Fast' plant. Hey I can wish huh? That strain is suppose to be one of them high CBD plants I see. Have you seen that one called Shark Attack form a vendor called Elite Cannabis. 'Suppose to go up to 34:1 CBD's. Now I'm not one to believe stats from a breeder but who knows?

NCW!! Welcome aboard! :high-five:

Good, Big, and Fast. . . . Try Ingrid, or Big Bud.

Yeah, I'm staying with tried-and-true (as close as that can be) for the high CBD. I will be seeking out a few different known High CBD strains, I think, and maybe combining them to make a VeryHigh CBD strain if I can.

Here are pics from the sister grow. Perhaps I need more light if the node length is so much longer. The runt of these ladies will be transplanted over to MK3 to fill in where one of its pumps failed.

So Jandre, what are your thoughts about a 684w i-gro in this size cabinet? :)

Honestly, I dunno yet. still testing this one. Intelligent-Gro Intensity Series 342w LED Grow Light link below in signature

However, the 684 has quite the footprint, and a much farther minimum distance, than what I currently have, that I'm not sure if I would get the yield from that one vs this one. I'm sure that heat would be no issue though, just toasty tips. Dunno.

My thinking was that the 684 would maximize the potential of the cab, probably even be too much power. But with the controller, I could always dial back the intensity to tailor it to my setup. I'd be doing heavy LST and SCROG to keep the canopy as low as possible and then tune the power of the light to get the most out of it all.

If nothing else, I'd be making the light last longer by toning it down, which would also let me move it closer to the plants. The reason I jumped on the 684 was that Dave told me the 2.0 version would be a few inches larger which would have made for too tight a fit in the cab I'm building. And he only had one 1.0 left, but it was a scratch-n-dent unit, so I got a terrific deal on it. I opted to err on the side of too much light figuring the controller would save my butt. :)
