Jandre2k3's Intelligent-Gro Testing: Phase 1

Thats what I do Colorado. The plants love it. I let the water sit for 2 or 3 days then add the unsulphured molasses to a bucket stir it with a dowel rod and its ready to go.

they are growing fast J and looking good, you may need calmag im using tap and have had signs of def i misted some gen org calmag and they are looking better and new growth is good something to watch for, led does seem to make them use quite a bit more ca mg :thumb:
Thanks buddy! Something to watch for.

I really like your scientific approach with great explanation and photography.

I'm curious about the bleaching. I'm thinking BID may be on to something with the possiblity of Cal/mag being an issue. I thought light bleaching affected new growth mostly. Those yellow spots look to be localized to a few small areas.
The bleaching is in the white box... it was DIRECTLY below the LED, before I started messing with it. The yellow on the other plant you see is one that shocked on transplanting into this box.. the new growth is fine, but a little behind the others.

Here is the bleaching I'm talking about:

Otherwise healthy and beautiful except for the part that was in some very intense light before I started messing with it. I'm 100% sure that it was the light that caused it.

The bleaching is slight, and not much of a worry for me right now, as these will be leveled this Saturday... It's just something for me to report to the sponsor of this grow, and keep in mind moving forward, "No less than 10 inches from the canopy, jandre... That's it."

hehe, yeah, you should see all the things in nice's grow now!! lol!

It's cool to see someone getting a little bit ornamental. Good Feng Shui. Most grows look so cold and utilitarian. If I could, I'd definitely have a little ornate sky-lit alcove where I could hang out and meditate with the plants. You're going to be spending so much time with them anyway, might as well make it a little shrine to the Canna-Gods. :)

Isn't it so tempting to get that light right up next to the leaves because there's so little heat? Heat used to be our limiter now it's too much PAR?

Awesome explanation now I'm back at my desk sitting quietly.

hehe, when IR gets too intense, it does create the same effect as too much heat from a HPS, it just looks different because it's not high heat, it's high RADIATION!! It's like having a burger under the light at a fast food restaurant, It'll make the paper and the the top of the bun crispy after too long under it.

Unfortunately, yeah, too much PAR will crispify (I know... not a word, but it works here) even the hardiest plants. It just seems that if there's no heat, there's no danger. I thought that since I could put my hand a scant 4" below the light before I felt heat, that it would be okay. I assumed - - - - Ass-u-me. Not something I am apt to repeat with this grow.

i notice some early signs of calmag def setting in i see some leaf edge knurling up on a few leaves, at this point its not a concern i dont think but if you see yellowing grab the micro or calmag, i kinda like that they need more seems like a good thing to me:rocker:

Knurled edges?!? where?

First haircut was tonight.

Warning: The following is intended for mature audiences, and contains images some viewers may find disturbing, upsetting, revolting, and downright scary...

Viewer discretion is advised.

I warned you- if you cannot handle the extreme manipulation of plants to grow in exacting shapes to maximize growing area, please DO NOT view the following images. Further, please refrain from negative comments on such. This is something I have done on all past grows in a similar Flower Box. Trust me- it *will* be okay.

The full monty.

This little girl on the bottom right got some real shock from the transplanting. But, she's growing well, now, and has some great new growth.

This side is doing EXTREMELY WELL! I'm quite surprised at how well these are doing.

I realized that I was meditating while gazing at he plants, so I decided to add some reminders for doing it properly. The statue in my east tub is Guru Rinpoche. I am thinking of getting (or making) a statue of St Francis of Assisi for the west tub.

Equipment failure!

Had a pump fail, and apparently was not delivering enough water all the way across the bin as it should. Lost the biggest Harlequin in the bin (SIDE B). However, it did make room in the box to veg up and flower out a Junior Explorer Biscuit clone. I'll be taking a few clones from this one as growing continues.

This week's pics.

Nah... I didn't cry, but I did get bit choked up. And a little pissed because of the way that ScrOG test 2 went. But a few deep breaths and I realized that the "Biscuit" plant I had would be really good for that space.
