James Bong Returns With DWC

A diluted bleach might be better but unnecessary. Only disinfect at the end of the run .. a plain wash out might be better ?

.5 of a ml of z7 (two parts ) every 3-4 days and regular bucket changes 7-10 days should give you big beautiful roots
Good luck!

Thanks, I wasn’t sure if I’d hurt it or not but wanted to disinfect as much as possible. The iso was just readily available as that’s what I use to spray down surfaces inside the tent every few days.
I did rinse the bucket throughly. You’ve had good experience with Z7?

Yep ..I used z7 exclusively until I dabbled in soil .
I have hydroguard on hand and z9 ( Canadian version ) when it runs out and go back to hydro.

I would stop spraying your tent with iso to clean every few days...probably unnecessary and you may kill your plant .. :goodluck:

I can get behind that logic, will the Z7 treat the pythium or just control the issue?
if I’m going to stick with hydro and keep using Z7 I’ll have to dump AN to afford it lol

I made it!!

OK tip on that "root rot" it's just called brown algae. What you need to do is hang the lid over another bucket and go get a hose with a sprayer. Then just rinse those bad boys down... Takes a while cause it comes off gradually but I know that and if really necessary an h202 bath but of the water stays clean it's all good. You might want to close off those exposed clay pellets as light can seep through into the water and have a cause directly related to what you are experiencing. If you want a practical it's in my journal Pub and grow 2 where I attempt a dwc aswell.

Here is mine after my battle with a gunking issue. Stayed clean all grow long after covering the stones.

Hope this helps and sorry for the long post

Nice, I’m going to give it a shot. The plant was showing some signs of stress that had me worried. Severely wilted leaves, and light discoloration. I know how fast hydro can bite ya in the ass. Hence the coco plant beside her. I figured I’d kill 1 sooner or later lol

Yeah it will cause that stuff suffocates the roots. Hope all goes well in DWC land. It surely is amazing seeing it kick off

Seems to be perking back up slowly,
pH at 5.9
She’s still not happy by any means but I’m not giving up on her yet. Can almost guarantee I’ll be flowering my coco plant after all just for the sake of this journal.

What is the water temp of your bucket
Water temp is at 67f currently, I don’t have a meter that records highs and lows though. Yesterday was the hottest the tents gotten. At 82f back in low 70s now

I would try to get it under 70 . I was running 75 and it stunted my plants ...that is documented in one of my journals
namaste
Ok going to go read through you Cotton Candy thread.
And I’m sitting at 68f at the moment so shouldn’t be much of a challenge to keep it under 70

Or should I call it pink kush?
Maybe I can message the same person to fix the typo in my handle

Update:
pH 5.7 stable
Ppm 530 stable
Res temp 66f
Not any new growth but not as wilted either slowly getting there. She’s had positive response from pouring a few ounces of res water through the hydroton.

The coco plant is still doing her thing just topped a few sites to maximize branching then I’ll leave her be until I need her.

All is looking well at this point, lots of new root growth, looks healthier and some new veg growth. I’m doing a res change every 7-8 days adding z7 on the 4th day.

pH 5.8 static
Ppm 530 static
Res temp. 66F
Coco plant is in auto pilot at this point

Those roots look rough ..but are trying to come back . I don’t recommend spraying them off , or cutting anything off . ..if you maintain your bucket changes and z7 you should have a nice big nest of roots soon enough !

is your net pot are sitting in the water ? Or is your water level a couple of inches below the net basket ..?
