Is This Your Homework Larry? Seedsman Skunk #1 In Soil

I checked on the plants. Been keeping an eye on some discolouration and potential issues. I think that most of what I am seeing is from being in the smaller pot too long. Although being dusted with DE was a bit rude. The new growth should all be strong as the roots find all the goodies. So again, not panicing.

The topped skunk is doing alright. I noticed there was a lot of secondary growth trying to happen so I helped the plant focus on the real action.

The grunt is doing better height wise but it has small leaves and it’s bushy. Like a micro bush. Mini Skunk. Munk. Not looking like a good yielder. What can I even trim in that bush.

Crown Royale same issues but lesser degree. It was the second most root mass in the small pots. Reinforcing my thoughts on just waiting out the issues.

The never did find the creedence tape. Peace folks

Funny just bought a new grinder then realized i could wash it lol. I use a screen in mine and have never cleaned it. Used it for over 15 years lol. I finally noticed i wasnt getting the keif i used to before realizing the screen was clogged. Put in with what i wash my pipes with and I now have 2 new like grinders.
I keep a jar of ISO alcohol just for that reason. I drop the top two pieces of my grinders in there and let them soak for an hour or two and then pull them out. Perfectly clean and like new. No telling how potent that jar of ISO alcohol is at this point lol. For some reason I see Grampa Tokin figuring out a way to smoke anything left in there lol.

Looking great. How old is your soil?
Well that’s a complicated question. I mixed it a year and a half ago. But I made a lot. My first grow was in 5 gallon fabric pots, so didn’t use even a quarter of the soil. Then the next grow was in the fabric pots again but with some of the unused soil. This current crop is in the same 32 gallon bin with the same soil as last grow, just amended.

Good roots, definitely time to up pot. They’re so compact, I wonder why some growers get such low to the ground growth, some get lanky growth. Gotta be soil, feeding, water, lights, but what is the driver?

Hope you get a good growth spurt with the new root space. :)
yeah I dunno, just hoping for a spurt, but I have no problem extending the grow to get what I need.

lol I though that too when I saw how much golden goodness I washed out of my grinder. It works so much better now.

Here is a bit of an update on the runt situation.

I am having difficulty with the Greenhouse Seeds, the NL5 x Haze x Kali Mist hasn’t grown, so between this attempt and last grows attempt we have failed to germinate 3 of those seeds. It had cracked but the tail failed to grow. So.

Since I am a man of action, I made the command decision to try another seed. I ordered this single Green Avenger from Brothers Grimm last year. So, I placed this one into that tiny pot directly, deep, and moistened it. Put it inside the jar in the tent.

Here is the breakdown of the Green Avenger copied off the website. Mine is feminized.

Green Avenger Regular Cannabis Seeds
Green Avenger from Brother’s Grimm is a Strain created in collaboration with TGA SubCool Genetics. As with all Brothers Grimm Seeds there’s a story behind Green Avenger.

Green Avenger has genetics of Genius x Vortex. It is named in honour of Subcool from TGA (The Green Avengers) Genetics as a personal thanks from Mr Soul at Brothers Grimm. Genius the female Mother is an old strain originally created by Brothers Grimm back in the late 1990’s. When Brothers Grimm went missing in action Mr Soul entrusted the Genius cutting to TGA. TGA or Subcool as he is known loved the Genius Strain and actually wrote a lot about it in his Cannabis book. When Brothers Grimm reformed they decided to use the original Genius cutting to create an awesome strain. Only problem was finding a Father….

TGA Subcool Genetics also had the solution to that. There Vortex Strain, which is a cross of Apollo 13 and Space Queen worked perfectly. Brothers Grimm selected a short phenotype that carried the tropical scent and a very high potency. Together Genius and Vortex make the perfect strain.

Green Avenger produces short squat plants with a unbelievable amount of side branching. Tropical buds almost burst out of every possible bud site, and trust me there’s many. Expect long sticky resin drenched colas that have a very tropical taste and smell. From citrus right through to a sweet pineapple explosion. Exactly what Brothers Grimm were hoping for. The high is euphoric and very quick to take hold.

Genetics: Genius female x Vortex male
Sex: Regular
Yield: High
Flowering Time: 8 weeks

I have been working on a bit of a career change so I haven’t spent much time documenting the goings on in the garden the last few days.

We have finished with the lactobacillus, I have some shelf stabilized with molasses, and the rest of the original concentrate in the fridge. I am composting the curds. Our next major watering will include some labs.

I suspected the medium layer of the soil was too dry. I measured it with my cheap meter and it was on the edge. So gave the plants an additional watering with straight water, ensuring the roots were soaked.

I have now topped all plants, despite their short structure, and will try to multiply as many tops as possible.

Cover crop is coming in nicely.

Do you check ph? Ph of the soil may be off.. guessing too high. They look like mine when that occurs in the beginning and/or all grow lol. You could do a slurry test to determine that. But will probably fix itself and they look to be loving life again already! Leaves pointing to the lights, they look lively.

Neat to watch your soil experiment in action. Btw I've heard adding wood to soil is no good but I can see how what you have added would be more easily broken down and readily available to the plants. Also wood can bring a 'negative' charge to your soil and make it diamagnetic. You want your soil to be more paramagnetic. This page here: Paramagnetic Rock Dust - Secret To Healthy Plants? explains all that very well. I am excited to see how it plays out for ya man!:thumb::cheer:

I checked my ph once or twice a year or so ago lol.

I was thinking it might be off but that it would fix itself , and they are starting to look better. I was thinking the lactobacillus and molasses feed would start balancing the ph. In fact it may have, as I gave the top layer a watering with it to keep the soil moist for the clover seedlings. They have been looking better and growing better. It boils down to me not wanting to ph lol, I have a pen, and the storage liquid...just dont want the hassle lol.

I kinda knew wood wasnt great but not why, I threw some sawdust in there last year to tie up some N, as I thought I had too much. But yeah this stuff is mostly organic matter I think, no cellulose or lignin. The majority of my coco and wood additives are in my soil bin with my composting veggies, and now lacto curds. There is only a thin layer in my plant bins, but its now a clover bed as shoots are popping off.

I have a shit ton of rock dust and have been using it more often lately as top dress. I also have a bunch of that local clay I harvested way back when I started that could add a few benefits.

The plants look good tonight, pinched some interior bush out, and I have been topping like mad, topping the tops as soon as they allow me. Gonna take my time, grow them out.

I will upload some pics tomorrow.

Here is the photo update, taken this morning

I have a small batch of ACT brewing, the next watering will feature ACT with Labs and aloe added.

Should be 4 tops on the sides being LSTd and the two up from below. I will top the 4 upper tops again if I can.

Buddy, how are ya? I've been missing my worm fam and came across this pic and felt sooo lonely. Just wanna thank you for all your hard work on the farm (for free). I didn't even need to hire you. Was just a show up, then:

Self appointed compost master.
Approved and hired.

Thank you very much!

Side benne - grows some good weed! Just see'in it here!

Lmao thanks bud, I was a bit surprised to see the worm as its been a while since I saw any. But now I saw them in my soil bin as well as the plant bins so I must be on the right track.

My local worm connection finally got back to me, $40 for a pound of red wigglers. Might get some and really start working the compost.

My tincture almost a month old, might do a bit of a slow cooker water bath to finish it off. Strain it and test it this week lol. Tried the cobs and its a happy buzz. Still need to work on my cob product.

Ok it was time for a few little activities. I had an ACT brewing, about 1.5 litres. I added this to about 2 gallons of water. Added a tablespoon of aloe juice and a tablespoon of the stabilized labs. This was slowly watered through both bins.

The tops are growing quickly and I am keeping them down with the yo yo’s. Red clover continues its growth. No visible pests and no indication of any. The temps are around 78 and RH 67%.

It was also time to strain my vodka tincture. But first I gave it a hot water bath in an open slow cooker for a few hours. Then strained it, squeezed as much vodka out as I could, then filtered it again. It’s pretty dark lol.

260 milligrams of cannabis, 350 millilitres of vodka, and an estimated 12% thc content.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to everyone.

Merry Christmas Urb ! Let us know how the tincture hits you .

Hey there bud, thanks for swinging in, Merry Christmas to you and yours as well. May 2019 bring you peace and happiness.

Happy Holidays to everyone, let’s make 2019 a friendlier, safer, and more enjoyable year for everyone.

A few close up shots of the training.

The Crown Royale is looking good, multiple tops, got at least 6 already and it’s taking the training well.

Better look.

The Skunk #1 has 8 tops so far. All the new growth looks great, even the old stuff has improved. The skunk is taking the training well, It’s a big plant and will fill the net well.

And here we have the disappointment. The runt didn’t like the ACT, labs, and aloe feed. The Green Avenger didn’t grow. The NL5 x Haze x Mist seed didn’t grow.

So I soaked yet another seed. Left it in the paper towel longer. I now have a Liberty Haze in some soil in the tent. I will grow it in the 4” pot, then into a 1 gallon fabric pot, then into the bin once it catches up a bit. Might skip the LST so it can be flipped with the rest.

If it lives.

I have been a bit busy with work and life and haven’t been able to stay super active in folks journals, although keeping an eye on them, and not a ton of time for my own. C’est la vie.

Not much more to update, perhaps better shots.

The runty skunk is not gonna be left alive long. The Liberty Haze seedling cracked the surface and needed a little help with the sheath but, underneath was the cotyledons and first set of leaves starting.

Here’s a good look at the Crown Royale and the many tops it’s got going on.

Hello 2019. I started the year off with a teaspoon (5ml) of my cannabis vodka tincture. After a while a nice gentle happy buzz kicked in. After about two hours, and still at that nice buzz, I rolled up a cob joint of bubba 76 and smoked half that. I can say that so far 2019 is pretty fun lol.

Started getting some fungus gnats so I made some Neem Meal soil drench. Hung some fly traps for the adults. Dusted the surface of the soil with diatomaceous earth and some rock dusts. Put the fan over the plants. Now we wait.

Culled the skunk mutant. The liberty haze is alive and starting in the 4” pot. Fired up the second light.

Happy New Year everyone.
