Irish's Harvest Journal, 2009

Your friends need to get their reco's ASAP. Then you won't be over your limit, because you'll "give" the excess to them for helping you trim.

I have a friend who is a pro-grower, and he has a couple dispensaries who come and get his crop green. They trim, manicure and cure it. You might try calling around and seeing if anyone is interested in that.....beats the hell out of letting LEO's smoke it.

Also, and this goes for everyone:

Never talk to the police. Never.
Don't say a word to them, under any circumstances---unless you called them.

Tell them, "I'm not talking to you, I'm calling my attorney." And then, don't say another word.

Never, ever invite them into your house or into your yard. When you do, anything they find, plant, fabricate or imagine becomes legally obtained evidence.

Finally, have the doctor who wrote your recommendation up your dosage to more plants and more dry weight. My wife and I told ours that we do not intend to smoke, but to make edibles....which means we need to grow a larger amount, so he let me grow whatever would fit into a 10x10 space, up to 99 plants and no more than 8 pounds dried.

Oh, did I mention? NEVER talk to the cops.
In case anyone is wondering, my friend, the pro-grower, has first hand experience in this. He's spent a few weeks in jail, had his crop taken and returned by the cops....he knows what he's doing.

Never talk to the cops! Do not, under any circumstances invite them into your house or take them on a tour of your garden!!!!!

Any place near by that you could rent a storage unit. HAng and dry in there until things cool down a bit.

That's a thought. If I could figure out how to quash the really strong bouquet while it's drying, I'd try that. The storage units are all real condensed in their yards and there's no way I know of to keep the fragrance from the rest of the renters.

Rain is coming on Tuesday. A real storm, I hear. Seriously contemplating just pulliing it all and hanging it somewhere like you said. I hate going back to the dark age of curing, but the closer it gets to Monday, the more anxiety to push that idea.

We should not have to live in fear, dammit!

One thing that I'm hoping for is the humanity and common decency of the detective I shouldn't have spoken to. He actually coached me for the reason behind having trimmers here--because my disability prevents me from doing it all myself. He came up with that from what I told him about why I grow it in the first place. He offered that out, and my trimmers went free on his word.

I appreciate that.

I sure hope everything works out well for you. And you are SO right; we should not have to live in fear!

Please get some of your friends to get their MJ reco's ASAP. Then, you'll be legal with the state. From what I understand, the state will only turn you over to the feds (in which case you're screwed) if you are:

1.)breaking state laws

and

2.)breaking federal laws.

Each of the people on this forum who are growing are breaking federal law.....but if you have your card, and you stay within your guidelines, you aren't breaking state law, which means you're safe.

Dot the I's, and cross the T's, don't go over your limit....I hope the hear that everything went well for you bro! Please, may it be so...

Sorry I hurried through the thread today and missed replying to your post. You are absolutely RIGHT. They will twist you at any turn. The limited dialog from my side was to give a little to get a little. what I could sense from some comments made by the detective, it sounds like he's expecting the county to lean in a positive direction towards cultivation, collectives, and so forth, and that a decision would be made soon.

It's an interesting political climate up here. Tehama county is perhaps the poorest or one of the poorest counties in California. Total population for the whole county is perhaps 60-, maybe 70,000 people. In my area alone there are dozens of gardens within a half-mile radius of me alone, and many many more all over the county. It would break the county to prosecute us all. On the other hand, if they decided to go with the flow and let us evolve with sb420 and 215 like they should and allow us to flourish, the whole county will become richer. They're trying to figure out how best to do that right now. Meanwhile, it's time to vote for who's going to be Sheriff in 2010. One of the runners is a sheriff's detective that has been involved with the drug task force and is pro-marijuana. It's a no-brainer who everyone I know is going to vote for.

I sure hope everything works out well for you. And you are SO right; we should not have to live in fear!

Thank you thank you THANK YOU for all of your advice and well wishes! God is Good, and she's left me a boon today. The owner of the flagship Tehama County dispensaries in Corning and Red Bluff stopped by today. He is joining our collective and we are joining his, so with all the collective members around me like schooling fish, I should be good on dry quantity as my excess will go into the collective collectives. I am making sure my 4 unfortunate trimmers get their recs and becoming members themselves so they, too, can join in the safety of the larger pool of people.

I think this is gonna work. My attorney will advise me how best to proceed, but I'm pretty sure this is the way through all this mess....;)

:goodjob:

That is great news! I'm sorry you had to go through this, but hopefully your trial can be a lesson for us all....without being too hard of a knock for you.

This is legal, folks.....as long as we stay within the letter of the law.

I'd like to add and reiterate that it is illegal for us to have anyone else trim our weed whether they have recommendations or not. It is considered "CULTIVATION", and state prison can be the likely outcome for this FELONY offense unless the trimmers happen to be members of a collective that you also belong to. Ditto for anyone else in your garden or drying room or anywhere you happen to be cultivating or processing or consuming your medicine.

At least this is how it is "today" in Tehama County, California.

So Homies, beware!

Yep. But it's so easy to get everyone on the same page, legally speaking.

In my situation, I'm the care giver, my wife is the patient. Both of us can grow, buy, trim and transport. If I wanted to bring someone else into the operation, I would have to be their care giver....or we would have to form a collective....or both.

Now on to some more enjoyable stuff....

....last look at the shrubbery before the storm.....

Here's my lovely Island Skunk, 3rd place in Plant of the Month, Sept 2009. She's really trying to put on the legendary spears I was hoping for. A little history--back in the early 80's waaay up in the Santa Cruz mountains, I had this wonderful little garden tucked away in a clearing within a circle of some mighty oaks, and growing there was the prettiest Purple Skunk you've ever seen. They grew tall and sprawled wide, and even with holes on 12' centers, they still grew together. With fond memories of those days and the promise that these girls were descended from that same stock, I anxiously planted them, late in the season though it was. I figured that planting in June (I usually plant March or April, no later than the first of May) would be a real crap shoot, but I had to give it a try. This plant and her sister has not disappointed. Alas, no purple stripes nor thigh-thick spears as long as my leg in days of yore, but these colas are longer than my arm and a respectable, tight-nugged circumference....

I wish we had scratch n' sniff screens! OMG her aroma is all about the tropics, just mouth watering and richly sweet. This girl is about a week away from finish, so I just couldn't take her before the storm. It's wicked out there, but she's holding up well. You can't really see it, but I have her suspended with floral tape within a webwork of baling twine, and though she's getting buffeted, she hasn't broken yet. Not a stem. Resilient, just like her great grandmother....:yummy:

Here's a side view of September's Plant of the Month 3rd place winner, let's give it up for the lovely and exotic Island Skunk... :cheer:

She reminds me of fireworks the way she shoots colas in every direction. And as you can see, she is as deep as she is wide. :slide:

A true beauty

I'm hoping for the best for you. Whatever the laws you're morally right. Best wishes.

No additional contact for the law? Hopefully they moved on to bigger problems.

Nope. Not yet. And I hope they wait until next month, if ever, to come back. Right now it looks like this here.....

tower_of_power.jpg

You can't see them all, but there are 7 wire towers filled from top to bottom in this room. In another room there are 8 more. This represents top buds from 4 plants, plus mature side buds for the first cutting. Second cutting will be remaining secondaries when they're ready, and "thirdsies" will be mature popcorn buds. This particular cutting is perhaps half of the 4 plants' crop, maybe just a little less.

As an aside, remember the OG Kush that broke in the middle? Those 4 branches yielded 2 lbs dry at the time. That plant is now harvested, dry and in curing. Total dry weight yield on this brave plant is 9 1/2 lbs.

Needless to say, the Kushes were my smallest plants. It took 4 days to harvest, trim and hang the one that didn't break (it's not amongst the towers pictured, but in tubs curing now). After the raid (which was during the second Kush's harvest), I had to go to drying and hanging first, trimming last, if ever, so I may have to cure leaves as well as bud in this year's adventure--which if anyone has had experience with this, you know it isn't the easiest thing to do since they tend to hold water until the cows come home.

It's all good. I've rearranged things to make this possible. A big, long drawn out pain in the bum, but it'll be fine....

Juicy Fruit

Holy moly!
Nice harvest! :slide:

You must not like to trim

Au contraire, my friend. I love to trim. I prefer to trim as soon as the buds come off the shrubs--it's essential for my Ambrosia cure, which I fear I may not be able to accomplish this year because of lack of enough trimmers with recommendations and the fact that the po-po raided me in the middle of trimming and almost arrested all of my peeps trimming with me so it all came to a grinding halt. Long story, but we do what we must to trudge on....

My goodness word can't describe! I need a bigger vocabulary! Thank you Irish, for the wonderful pictures!

You're welcome, Weed. More to come...stay tuned. ;)
