InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

She went come trim one for me. I can't tell head tails leaves or stems on one my clone of hindsight

Thanks 7D, it was a pretty busy weekend once I got home!

It looks like your clone missed the pre-flip thinning so I'd leave it alone at this point. Doesn't look big enough that I'd want to risk taking anything off in flower.
I bet. Took me weeks to get to know where things were . I was gone for 5 years. Only to come home maybe one week out of the year . Now I grow some sht. Lmao. Go figure

Good luck on the pollinating, Shed- I think it's gonna work like a charm!

Quickie Tuesday update!

Proof of life on the Summer Grow on day 35:

Trainwreck from @Weed Seeds Express on the left and Purple Urkle on the right. These would be a lot bigger if I had them under grow lights at night but the damn STS Sour G isn't done putting out pollen sacs...grrrr!

Also, spotted this on a top leaf of the Candida when I pulled it out of the shed this morning:

Not sure what it is. It didn't start moving away when I touched it (like most bugs do) but it's dead now anyway!

Carry on with what you were doing. :slide:

Just to know that I can store pollen if I need to would be nice. Thanks Carcass!
Sending you pollination vibes for Jack Herer on Sour G ! May they marry well!
All pollination vibes are greatly appreciated. I don't imagine I'll be growing them out if they take, but it would be nice to know it works!
I see what you mean. This Candida is busy bushy! And beautiful!
All adjectives starting in "bus" are greatly appreciated. :) Thank you Otter!

Looks a bit like a hoverfly larva, but not quite the same as what I had in the backyard last year. The ones we have here eat other insects, especially aphids.

Monday update time on a Monday!

First off, I did some test-pollinating of the Jack Herer 1.1 yesterday with the two batches of Sour G pollen. First I covered the two buds I was going to try:

Then I misted the rest of the plant to make sure the pollen didn't work anywhere else. I pollinated one area with the dirty batch and one area with the clean batch. About 3 hours later I misted the whole plant again and I hope that was enough time to have it take.

Then, per Otter's reminder about the importance of labels, I labeled the two branches. Dirty:

And Clean:

We'll see! Moving on, I took a few lowers off the Candida before I flipped it last night and put them in ProMix HP. Dome on:

Dome off:

I de-dome for a minute in the mornings for the first few days just to get some fresh air in there.

Here is the Candida on flip day 1:

Measured for @BeezLuiz's spreadsheet:

We're calling this 27.5" tall.

Finally, I floated the Candida cuttings in perlite that were cut May 2nd and two had tiny roots, so I buried them in ProMix HP:

Whichever of these various cuttings is the strongest will become the new mother.

That's it for me! I hope you all had a great weekend and your days aren't gray like mine in May. :ciao:
I'm a little surprised the branch at almost exactly 9 o'clock made the team!

Thanks Melville! First time I've seen something like this but I do have a lot of hoverflies and know they're beneficial. Unfortunately there are never enough of them to deal with my aphids. :)

Still, if it's not a ladybug larva it's too risky in my book.

LOL! Like I mentioned when I thinned it, this is not my standard post-flip thinning. :cheesygrinsmiley:

[Oh, do you mean the Candida? You quoted the entire post. The Candida is grown for oil and also cannot be trimmed to normal specs because it's a hedge rather than a plant!]

HeeHEe!!! I was hoping you'd get a kick out of that.

Hey non-growing weed related question - if this isn't too personal, what was your son's response to seeing actual college campuses for the (first?) time live in person? I ask because it had gotten me remembering my first visit to a campus, I believe it was Syracuse, and all I saw was a beautiful and super cool playground I couldn't wait to play in! Made quite an impression. Wondering if kids still have that "wow" thing in them, or if the internet killed it, lol.

He was a combination of hyped and terrified. But he also never expected to get accepted to a 4-year school so you can add surprised when the "you're accepted" emails started coming in. Now he's looking forward to August so he can hang out with the friends he's made. I'm 100% sure he didn't see that coming when he got to campus for the first time last August!

And non-growing questions are fine here. Since I was never hoping to win GJOTM I guess it's okay to have my journal "half filled with off topic conversations." ;)

Thanks Shed, so it wasn't the first time. Well still thanks for sharing the first time reaction, same idea! And yeah, that's so cool, kids are still kids!! Good luck to him and y'all.

He had done the college tour with us for his older sister, so his tour was 3 years later and just of the schools he was accepted to (that he was interested in). Still, he was a bit of a deer in the headlights when he thought he might be going there!
Which is one of the reasons we loving hanging out here.
Aww thanks BigD!

Just moving a discussion with @Timhomegrow from a sponsored thread to this more free-wheeling one!
Thanks Tim! I did look that up when I read your post, and if they are saying that it can use 0-0-4 in veg and then an additional 1-2-3 in flower, it's telling me something. I mean, like why would anyone use plain old product when you can enhance it with added nutes? Who doesn't want "enhanced" harvests?
I tried it back when they first got here, and they wanted folks to stick to their original published schedule of a fixed amount every 14 days. That left me with N deficiencies in veg so I moved on. They later changed their recommendations saying that if your plants looked hungry you could add more and/or top dress more often. I haven't gone back for another shot at it since then.

I also don't think the Bloom is the correct NPK ratio for me (too little N, too much phosphorus) so that's another reason I haven't tried again.

Now recommending (advanced?) you add two additional liquid nutes to your water takes you out of the organic/water-only/no-fuss aspect and moves you into the nute-mixing business. That's a completely different growing method that has a larger number of competitors, some of whom are sponsors here.

Some folks really like it though, so this is just my experience.
Interesting you think their Bloom has too.mucj phosphorus and the "advanced" is calling for more. What sign did you see that it had too much phosphorus? Sorry to ask a bunch of questions, still learning
In terms of companies pushing phosphorus as something needed in flower, I'll partial-quote an earlier post I did on the subject (if you click the quote link where it has my name it will take you to the original size graphs):
Plants need nitrogen all the way through flower, almost as much nitrogen as potassium, and very little phosphorus all the way through.

I've posted these before, but this is a pdf with plant analysis charts and graphs (with full detailed lab analysis) done on the macro and micronutrients found in three different strains of cannabis plant during veg and flower.

The varieties and analysis are from 2003, but I don't think we have modified the plant in the last 17 years to the extent that the nutrient results would vary that greatly today. Here are screenshots of the first three graphs:

You can see that plants need very little phosphorus ever, and if you want to see amazing plants grown with this level of phosphorus (besides mine :cheesygrinsmiley: ) you can check out @farside05's latest flowering plants here:
