InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

guy at the store felt bad about my soil woes and gave me three bottles of Fish-it soil conditioner. No idea what I'll do with them!
Wow, sweet! The fishit is local to me all the way from the other coast! I'm happy the guys who make this stuff got it your way! I've used it and met them at weed shows. Those boys make it from, yep, tilapia farmed fish byproduct. Microbes from fish for your soil.
I'm very happy you got your hands on some hp!

That's the universe speaking to you. You should listen. One plant. Then we'll shut up about it.
The resistance too hempy is strong in this one. :nervous-guy:
And @Amy Gardner is right when she says plant it after a 24 hour soak regardless.
Yes after 24 hours of soaking you run the risk of drowning the poor bean.
Anyway, I wetted the shell and removed the helmet without any trouble. Then I went out to get the ProMix HP, and they guy at the store felt bad about my soil woes and gave me three bottles of Fish-it soil conditioner. No idea what I'll do with them!
Try mixing some of that to your pro mix for the veg mix sure they will adore it.
He's living the high life in velcro sneakers and leaving us all in the lurch. :(
Ah i forgot about his preponderance to the velcro sneakers from the late 80s. Neon g string pumping free weights shirtless with the white velcro kicks on South Beach Miami. Sounds about right?
This is me crossing the street: :surf:
Do the same when i see the HA coming down my sidewalk.
There really isn't that much difference between the two. One has a hole in the cup....
Hmmm.

It probably depends on how you store it. When I leave a bucket of solution outside in the heat, it gets funky after three or four days.

I think it’s the organics. Remember, only about 40-45% of the weight is comprised of minerals - there’s also vitamins, humics, and other organics in there.

Quotes first, pics in about an hour (so come back!).

I cut back on the amount of pelletized lime this time on a hunch and hit it about square on the head (5.8) when I did my slurry test. Final recipe, 3 cubic foot compressed bale of peat, 12.5 gallon of perlite, 2 cups pelletized lime. Makes 40 gallons worth of growing medium (about the same as a 3.8 compressed bale of Pro-Mix HP.
Good info! You should update the recipe in the opening post of your Faux-mix thread. Click Report on that post and give the mods the new info.

@beez0404 had issues like yours where put in too much lime and ended up with high pH numbers.
Mix it with a vat of Terpinator and you'll have Terpish-it.
LOL! Which vat should I add it to?
Glad to see you got your ProMix. I know you’ve had issues with old ProMix in the past. I see what appears to be a “born on” date at the bottom correct? I’m guessing January 29th, 2021.
It is indeed. Nice to get some fresh stuff for a change!
I know right?
Looks good.
:thanks: Come back for the newest info though... :nomo:

It's light and fluffy and easy to work with. Absorbs water like it's supposed to as well. :)

Not sure about using the Fish Sh!t though. Adding an unknown variable at this point doesn't seem wise. :hmmmm:
It will be posted before you get back here! :reading420magazine:

I'm going to run with what I know for a while, given my recent adventures into the unknown. Maybe I'll add some to my lemon trees though!

I'd hit it!

100%. Thanks Felipe!

Alrighty then, here is the Monday update!

Saturday morning I cut down the Candida STS plant and meticulously went through every flower looking for seeds. It took about an hour and this is what I found:

On the advice of a number of couple of pollen chuckers, I pushed each seed into the counter with my finger and only kept the ones that didn't squish (keepers on the right):

Could have been quite a haul if the plant had survived!

Then I separated those into darker, lighter, and ones that got a little dent when I pressed them:

After two weeks of drying I will test-germinate the dented ones first to see if any of those sprout. Then I'll move on to the light ones. We'll see...

Later, after my nap, I repotted all the clones with the fresh ProMix HP (no pics until they recover), and then we went for a sunset walk and picnic with another couple and our dogs:

Perfect weather!

When we got home, I noticed that the centered Jack Herer looked to have the membrane still attached, so I wet it and removed it easily. But it only has one cotyledon and looks to have no apical meristem:

It doesn't look any better today (day 3), so I'm really glad that sidecar sprouted!

Sunday was watering day, Home Depot (8 bags of bark chips), another nap, and gardening in the front (only needed 6 bags). And of course, this...

Let me put all doubt to rest about the pH of the ProMix HP straight out of the bag...perfect! It will rise slightly after a week of being watered (that activates the lime).

Here is the Oval of Brightness® this morning before I pulled them into the sun, Tin Can Kush front, Red Dragon rear - both on flip day 56:

Another Tin Can Kush flower...we're starting to get leaners!

Red Dragon:

And on my way to work this morning, something hit the window support on the passenger side (windows down) and bounced onto my neck. Without crashing the car I quickly swatted it off and drove to work. When I got out of the car I found this on my seat:

I gave it a bit of help out of the car, but I think it took a bit of damage when it slammed into the car at 40mph. Oh well...at least I'm not damaged!

I hope your weekends went well and the week is off to a fine fine start. Be careful out there as cases rise and Delta spreads. Keep your guard up and stay safe!

:Namaste:

No significant issues with bugs bringing those plants to and fro, outside to in?
Good question! Since all my plants spend the day outside, inside is just as buggy as outside. I don't have any plants that live inside exclusively that could possibly live a pest-free existence so there's nothing to protect from the outside.

All IPM (integrated pest management) is done outside in the shade in the mornings when I see something worth dealing with, which is to say not very "integrated"!

Since all my plants spend the day outside, inside is just as buggy as outside.
:hmmmm: I guess that's one way to do it. Kind of like bringing it all to the lowest common denominator. Bring them bugs inside to even out the playing field for those mostly inside plants to give them a taste of what they're missing. :p

How's Mrs. Shed feel about that strategy?

for those mostly inside plants
Ahh, but there is no such thing as mostly inside plants! That's where your confusion arises. All the plants live outside all day and inside all night.
How's Mrs. Shed feel about that strategy?
The inside bugs strategy or the IPM strategy? She doesn't have leaves, so she's not concerned about being noshed on by aphids, and I wash all my harvests so she's not concerned about smoking them either. :thumb:

All the plants live outside all day and inside all night.
I had to stop giving the outdoor ladies any supplemental light in the box with the GG- found some baby aphids on both of them, the day after I mentioned how bug-free they were...
I still schlep them in at night, but only into the patio room.
I caught the aphids early, so I just removed the infested leaves and haven't seen an aphid on them since- but I don't want to press my luck...

For all those who missed the weekend's activities, that post is here. And while it may seem like it...it doesn't mention plant bugs once!

Oh, if I had an indoor grow I'd be wary of mixing it with plants from outside. But of course, I don't have an indoor grow!
