InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Ms Stank took the tops off two pineapples we ate and we are growing them again. I gotta up pot this week. We still have another year or more to go!
Outdoors in New England? Must be inside then yes?

Mine are Maui Gold all from one pineapple we brought home about 6 years ago. We've harvested 4 since then and I have 9 in pots, and about 25 slips sitting in water. I give them to friends when they come over!

When we harvest one it gets eaten as I'm slicing. I have to threaten my kids with the knife in order to get a piece for myself :).

Oh okay. Thanks for the heads up! Dryer lint I got. And probably more seed topper I'll never use as we won't have grass any more. Can I use plain old soil from the garden as well? I have a mound of that from where I dug a hole for the non-fruiting olive tree I put in a month ago.!

Best (only?) use for dryer lint ever...makes your soil pretty AND provides aeration AND helps retains moisture.

Dirt from your yard is perfect (unless they spray it with chemicals). No more of that Kelloggs mix....manure is hot, and chicken manure is one of the hottest. You can keep what is in the bin there, but bury it in reg dirt and soak the dirt. Throw in more food, then worms. Since the hot ingredients are on the bottom the worms can avoid it for now and over the next few weeks the added water, food, and worm poop will titrate down and neutralize the hot components.

Worms bins output what you input...the worms just make everything better. If you have no old soil or other media...just buy cheap, (non-enhanced) bag soil (or two) and maybe throw in some new coir. I like coir for the same reasons I noted for lint above. If I didn't have it when I started a worm bin, I would add it before potting...but if I have it and need some added media volume I throw it in.

My starter for my bins comes from (approx) 10 yards of compost in various stages of decomposition that I have been cultivating for 3+ years. People drop their leaves and ashes at our farm...I even have a sign saying "Leaves Wanted" by the road.:ciao:

No more Kelloggs...check
Garden soil okay...check
Dryer lint good, manure bad...check
Fresh garden waste bad...check
Old leaves good? Is sun dried garden waste okay then?

Why are you multiplying? My math is good but it should just be volume of chemicals multiplied by the NPK what's all the 1/3 2/3 for

Idk man. They look funky to me too.cal mag issue is my guess if not just a natural phenomena keep an eye on 'er

Ok thanks! Maybe I should flush it next time I water and start over around 600-700 nute TDS. I'd like to find a standard nute solution for Sour G, Gold Leaf, and the AK clone to stick with until late July. That's assuming they have the same basic veg needs, which may end up completely wrong!

Did my math make sense with the 1/3 old nutes 2/3 new nutes formula? I was trying to do it the way I calculate the cannabis/oil ratios in the capsules: How much of each nute ended up in the total amount of water. Whatcha think?

I think you'll be fine with one nute for all vegging plants. Might have to cut it down some with a little water if one gets a little burn on its tips

That would be great Derby! I've been lucky so far with no burn on anything yet (knock on wood) but this Sour G is doing some weird leaf things the last couple of weeks. I may transplant it sooner rather than later and get it into a felt pot and see if that helps.

Have you read any organic gardening books (anyone) that you would care to recommend? I may look into a few.
Hey Dabbers, check out True Living Organics: The Ultimate Guide to Growing All-Natural Marijuana Indoors by The Rev. The best book I've read on the subject. An unexpected recommendation coming from a hydro guy, I'm sure, but trust me on this one!

2 years for a stinkin pineapple!!!!! And here I thought penny’s and arctics malawi’s took too long!
The weight I get on a pineapple is greater than any malawi ever grown! It's worth it :). And it produces its own offspring with no CS spraying needed. Perpetual pineapples.

Next time you should tag @TheMadDabber to make sure he sees your recommendation! One of the best parts of the redesign of the site!

I'm with Newty. They look great! Tony the Tiger Great! Cheese 5 does that and they come out of it after a week or so. Just a weird leaf. Nothing to see here.
Thanks Ripe! I hope so. Just in case, see below:

Happy Tuesday y'all. I decided to do something about the Sour G leaves, and the Gold Leaf leaves were looking that way too. I checked the underside but didn't see any bugs. Tomorrow I'll dig out the loupe and check for tiny ones.
Sour G (water in the notch from flushing overspray):

Gold Leaf:

So I tested the pH of the soil (6.9) and then I flushed them both to around tap +250 TDS (initial runoff pH ~6.4). Nothing strange there. Anyway, I mixed up a gallon of nutes with:
½ tsp Armor Si
5 ml cal/mag+
1 tsp Grow Big
3 tbs Big Bloom
Sour G got about 1/3 of that and Gold Leaf got the rest. The smaller clones got the runoff. Let's see how it goes.

Oh...I set the alarm for 30 minutes early and I was still late for work. Flushing takes longer than I think!
