InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Hope everyone is having a great week. I spent the morning flipping freshly rooted clones upside down and submerging them in neem oil for 10 minutes each. I figure either the neem oil will either kill the clones or the bugs can't hold their breath for more then 8 minutes and drown. I will do this every other day until either the clones or the bugs are dead. I am mixing the neem at about 70% strength.

Once finished dipping the clones I began day four of treating my sativa dominant Candida CD-1 plant with colloidal silver. I am treating her right at lights on and right before lights out. I'll do this for a total of 10 days and then flip her into flowering where I will continue treating her with the CS till I see boy parts.

I got in four tubs of Vulx from one of our sponsors and have begun planning a comparative grow to see if it really works as described. Trying to determine how much to add per gallon with my soil weighing between 4 and 5 pounds per gallon. Still trying to get my head around why I would want to give the plants less water then a plant without Vulx. I'm sure there is good, reliable information floating around out there somewhere.

Have a great weekend ya'll.

Just to give you an idea, most peat based soils, organic or otherwise, will come in between 1 to 1.5 lbs/gallon dry weight.

Minimum 75g/gallon, regardless of weight. Any less than that and there's just not enough distribution to do anything useful. Again, thank Shed for helping to find that out way back when.

Even 60g/gal doesn't seem to be sufficient enough to affect dryback (the effects on water retention should basically be immediately apparent).

Figured that out when someone used less than the recommended weight recently..

how much of that weight is water weight mate?
Finally someone thinks about the water weight. I couldn't tell you an exact weight. It was enough water to moisten my soil to where I could squeeze little blobs into a ball that sort of held together but not tightly. I weighed the soil after adding the moistening water. Just guessing the water weight could be 15-20% of the weight?

I'm not the smartest guy in the world and wonder if the @Vulx is going to be too difficult on a scientific level for me. I thought it was plug and play, easy peasy etc.

I just two my two cuttings yesterday for the comparative grow so I have time to come up with a game plan. I grabbed a couple IHG Garlic Sherbert cuttings as I was trimming her up for flowering. With luck they will both root together and then I'll be ready to start the Vulx grow. I will go from solo cups straight into 1 gallon plastic pots. I'm thinking 100 grams of Vulx in the 1 gallon of soil. And of course no Vulx in the other gallon pot.

85-90 grams per gallon is fine, really. Doesn't need to be exact.

Let me condense the last message in a way that a functional person would speak as opposed to my rambling:

1. Make sure when you water how you normally do (in terms of amount) that the soil isn't too wet.

2. When it's time to water the control plant, make sure the Vulx plant is properly dry.

3. Don't think of it as giving less water, think of it as Vulx reducing what would normally leach out or evaporate.

Look what I found when I got home last night!

It's nice when they have the same birthday! So they went into solo cups this morning:

And out into the sun.

Still waiting for the Carnival to come up, so it sits alone in the Shoebox of Light®. @Amy Gardner wanted to see it with the lid off, so here it is:

I measured the distance from the top of the peat to the actual bulb, and it's around 5".

I hope everyone is healthy and happy. Grow well!
:happy-birthday:

This thread moves faster than your sister on prom night....I'm trying to try.

Do you even Club Tray?

Thanks for the Vulx discussion gang! I hope @beez0404 isn't scared off giving it a try. It's really easy compared to constantly dunking clones in neem oil.
Hey there Mr Shed, your title mentions nothing about jumping "back in" at anytime.
Is this an option? Hope so, been away for a year or so.
Coming back with an inside and out grow myself.
Good to see you've been keeping things green, I'll try and catch up as best I can.
Howdy PD! Great to see you again. :high-five: Drop a link to your latest grow here.

For those who aren't familiar with Piña, he grew (among other plants) beautiful Christmas tree and a great spog® in late 2018!
So what the difference between Kalashnikov and ak47?
"This strain is the result of crossing AK-47 with Altai Sativa."
@beez0404, how much of that weight is water weight mate?
Good question!
Where did the new babies go? I think we’re gonna need a fresh post-link @InTheShed
Working on an overly large update right now!

Thanks Baron! I do if you do. :)
Hell i was 4 pages behind now forgot what i was going to say LMAO
It'll come back to you if you're younger than I am. If you're the same age or older it's probably just gone.
That's the case for me too almost always here!
As long as you come by I don't care what you miss.

Friday picture dump update day, so let's just dive in!

As I mentioned last night, Carnival sprouted while I was at work yesterday. Here it was then:

And here it is this morning ready for transplant:

I thought I would go through my peat puck planting process, for anyone interested. It always begins by taking the wrapper off the puck. I cut the bottom open before I drop the seed to make room for the tap root.

Into the ProMix HP with some additional Mykos mixed in:

Once it's all filled and tamped down, I water the top half with distilled water, since that's what I use to keep the peat moist during germination:

I put about 2" of warm tap water in the dark solo cup and drop the clear cup in, to soak that up from the bottom, and then take it out and leave it in the sink to drain.

Here are the three spring babies! As soon as it warms up outside my wife will move them into the sun.

Moving on, one of the lower Fruit Punch cuttings is now a clone!

Bread will be made this weekend:

The Purple Skunk Krush is starting to purple up. Here it is on day 81, flip day 4:

Look what came in the mail from Boveda today. Thanks for the reminder @Virgin ground! No c-vaults or instructions about running side-by-side tests though.

Just some samples, which are always good to have:

The smallest one must be to roll into your blunts ;).

Speaking of Purple Skunk Krush, it is no more ready to tell me what sex it is than ever:

But it is definitely time to do some pest management!

I hope that wasn't too many pics for y'all. But this weekend is supposed to be chilly and possibly raining, so I thought I would give you enough to tide you over.

Engage weekend cruise control... :surf:

Cheers for the welcome back Shed.

Haven't thought about the Blueberry spog® in ages. One of my current babes is a Blueberry, I'm not hoping for a repeat.

Link to my journal is in my sig, as long as I set it up right, it's been a while. Going to be an outdoor/indoor grow, when it's up and running.

Sorry for my laziness, I'm sure it's mentioned, but what sort of bread you making? Wife's guessing sour dough?

:Namaste:
