InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Farside posted this here where he quotes Royal Queen Seeds website (with this note: numbers are for "white light" like COBs, strips, QBs, HPS, or MH. It doesn't work...for blurple LEDs):

[QUOTE:
HOW MUCH LIGHT DO YOUR CANNABIS PLANTS REQUIRE?

  • Clones and seedlings: 5,000–7,000 lux
  • Vegetative growth: 15,000–50,000 lux
  • Flowering: 45,000–65,000 lux
  • Maximum recommended amount of light: 75,000 lux
What about even more light? At some point, increasing the light beyond a threshold plant can manage will actually diminish returns. Said differently, once you reach about 85,000 lux, it’s simply too much. Some strains may already show signs of light stress at only 75,000 lux, with the risk of light bleaching increasing at over 80,000 lux. To keep it safe, it is best to stay at or below 75,000 lux.
/QUOTE]

At 70,000 lux my strips are putting out 1020 PPFD. From what I've read, anything over 1000PPFD can't be used without adding CO2, heat, and additional nutrients.
Here is a LINK to a post, that contains a link to an article, on using lux numbers. Confused yet? lol. Anyway, I target these lux numbers for various stages:

Seedlings - 20k
Early veg - 30k
Veg - 40k
Transition to bloom - 50k
Bloom - 60k
Late bloom - up to 70k

This is only the second run with having a meter so I'm no "expert". But that's what I've shot for.
Thank you both - I dip into this every now and then and every time I learn just a little more. Especially when folks are as helpful as that and post easypeasy links that I dont even have to search for. 420 bookmarks feature “engaged” :D
:thanks:

Hahaha that’s funny. Sounds like I’d be better off just using lux to dial it in and forget the rest of the technobabble :Namaste:
Par, lux, ppfd, yada yada yada. All some sort of light measurement. I'm sure the purists and more electrically astute can explain why one unit of measure is better than another. Why do I use lux? Cause I'm a cheap bastard and lux meters are the least expensive. Real technical huh?

omg Shed!! Your plants are beautiful. Looks like an assembly line. Very efficient.

There'd be belts all over the place for that assembly line. Shed, outside, inside, 12 hours of light, 18 hours of light, sun LED, etc. I'd be lost trying to keep it all straight. Somehow Shed makes sense of it all and produces beautiful ladies.

Like farside said it's just about hitting target numbers.

idk that clones take that long to root. I have given up after 2 weeks even though they looked healthy. I will try again with my fem seed plants.
god I'm hoping my bag seed weed is worth it when finished  There is always the local dispensary in a jam
Thanks NTV! Some strains take longer to root and some methods take longer than others. I recommend beez0404's method of cloning, which I use with a few modifications. And I'm sure your bagseed will be worth it. You'll get some meds out of it and a whole lot of learning for the next grow. Same as the rest of us :).

Why thank you farside! The process of shifting these plants is pretty comical, particularly at night when I have to climb up a ladder to unscrew the motion lights so they don't come on when I bring the big three into the house in the dark from the shed and into the tent, then screw them back in and put the ladder away until the next night! And then the Candidas go in the shed for the night under the Samsungs.

Should be sunny tomorrow though! A little less movement though not by much .

The Cannabis Shuffle

They're gonna start doing that at weddings next:

To the shed, to the shed, to the shed, to the shed
To the yard, to the yard, to the yard, to the yard
Now lift, now lift, now lift, now lift
Now climb the ladder now, now climb the ladder now

Doin' the Intheshed Shuffle
