InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

wouldn't judge that quit yet
Yes - I suppose not :battingeyelashes:

I was thinking/hoping that it might help keep things nice and low for you Shed, if it is. I think in the long run each pheno will produce about the same amount of medicine, as you say.
I’ve just been curious about that soft droopy top because sometimes these things can be genetics, and newty said hers was a bit as well - and my other plants are not like it, they’re very upright and solid. I have been battling the gnats but think they’re dealt with, the droop can be a gnat thing tho, so I’m still suspicious (hence I’m canvassing others’ experience with the genetics a bit). It’s not major - I’m just curious.

Here’s mine yesterday - day 46of veg. :) (I’ll restart my own journal this week, I promise )

Yes - I’m actually about a week or so overdue to transplant. It’s not as tipply as it looks tho ;)

I am in a bit of a pickle bc the package from Doc is stuck in transit somewhere so the custom amendment that is supposed to cook into my raised bed for 2weeks before planting, hasn’t arrived yet. I’ve been waiting g for that to get the journal going. I’ve just today (and last night) sent messages to Doc for advice about whether I can just transplant in there now and deal with whatever happens when I broadcast (if the amendment ever arrives). It was posted USPS priority on the 7th. Left US customs in LA on the 15th, and no further tracking info since then, and nothing at my PO Box. I am just a little worried - but more immediately concerned for the 2plants that are destined for that bed and needing something soon, very soon. Yeah... own journal... I’ll shut up now !

Yeah I’m really hoping that’s all it is - the holiday postage crush. Fingers crossed.
I don’t have any other cooked HB kit soil to put em in either, or Id just to a temp upcan to something bigger.

I suppose I could do that I to non kit soil and nurse them through for a bit, while waiting. See this is where journaling can really help. Just nutting through any dilemmas with folks presents options. :)

Thanks farside! I'll see how close my slurry test is to that range. So you're thinking is I should be nuting lower than the 6.5 I currently use.

An initial slurry test, like right out of the bag, will be lower, between 4.5-4.9 because the lime they add has to be wet about 7 days before it balances everything out. I'm pulling my data from HERE which is Premier Tech Horticulture's (maker of Pro Mix) website. Your 6.5 should be fine. I have 2 meters (cheap ones). I can calibrate both of them in test solution, but when I go to use them in nutes, one will normally read .2 higher than the other. I just try to get in a range rather than an exact number. I use Dyna Gro nutes and they actually recommend pH'ing between 6.2-6.8 for soil-less mixes. Your 6.5 is right in the middle and that used to be my target. Its only been the last 2 grows that I've gone to 6.2 and frankly I haven't seen any difference.

Excellent info farside, and thanks for the link! Interesting info on the difference over time. I have an open bag that got wet in the rains we had a few weeks ago so I'll compare that to the sealed dry bag I have and see if I can duplicate the results. On the weekend's agenda!

Plants looking nice shed. How are your feelings about the light so far?
Hard to tell. It's not kicking off much heat so the low temps in the shed may be working against the overall increase in light. I'm also seeing some magnesium deficiencies like you did that I thought I was ahead of but obviously not, so there's some catching up to be done there. Sometime next week I'm going to start bumping the wattage up to see how the plants respond.

Here is an interesting observation: when I open the shed and move the plants, the BT2 buds have a fresh cut grass smell. Three minutes after being in the sun they smell like cannabis again. Could be the cold more than anything.

Great! I made this observation as well. The older Samsung chips on the Chilleds get hotter than the inFlux ones. It can also depend on that the chips on the Chilleds are tighter together than the strips. But the cooler the better. :)

I make the same observations when opening the tent during the day when the lights are off they smell more than when I open in the evenings. :thumb:

Plants nutrient uptake changes with cooler temps too.. Also affects the overall vigor of your plants. Not sure if anyone said that,,, one day I'll learn to read,, but till then I'll just spout off,,, but I always see acouple cal/mag hungry plants in the gardens in the colder weather. GL and Keepem Green

But the cooler the better.
At this point I could use the heat! I'm sure I won't be saying that in the summer but they're not on as long when the plants are getting all that direct sunlight.

My lights are on all night so it can't be a dark/light reason.

That's interesting, I've never read anything about cold temps and cal/mag deficiencies. I'm going to Home Depot tomorrow to see if they have the oil-filled heaters in stock. Otherwise they'll ship it to my nearest store.

Thanks!

Noooo. It's a heat/cold reason. During day in my tent it's cool and they smell. Night the light is on they smell less. You know those summer nights when all the flowers smell wonderful, it doesn't smell as much during the days when sun is basking over them... or am I just blazed right now? :)

The pH of Pro Mix itself should be 5.5-5.8, that's what the manufacturer balances it to. I water at 6.2-6.4 so it can drift down through the range of 6.5 to 5.5 which is the optimal range for nutrient uptake.
:welldone:Thanks for the info Farside!

Interesting I’ve been PHing my nutes between 5.8-6.3 and haven’t had any issues either. I guess I’m still within their uptake range to not affect them.
