InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

I always thought that if u had a bagseed from a hermie plant that no matter what if it was a female that by mid flower it would start to produce seeds itself!!!! is that wrong i guess.. im asking bc thats what iv always heard in want to be corrected on it if so??
Cannabis needs both sperm and eggs to make babies. Generally male plants make the sperm in the form of pollen, and generally female plants make eggs in their ovaries. Pollen from male parts get on stigmas from female parts and makes seeds.

However, any male plant can spontaneously make female parts, and any female plant can spontaneously make male parts. When that happens we call them hermaphrodites, or hermies. It’s just a thing that they do sometimes.

The tendency for plants to exhibit hermaphroditism seems to be genetic, whether it’s a low incidence or a high incidence - but all cannabis plants have this ability.

Not all plants that have the genes for a high incidence of creating hermaphrodites will do so, it’s just statistically higher that they might, given the conditions to do so. A seed with the genetic potential for hermaphroditism may never show it, if there are no stressors in its environment to cause a need for it.

On the other hand, other plants may have such a high tendency that every plant grown from that crossing may develop as both male and female. It’s just kind of a roll of the dice.

Which is why responsible breeders will either cull that particular breeding line if the hermie trait is too strong, or breed it to more stable plants to lower the incidence of that trait expressing itself.

Thanks for attending my TED talk on weed sex, I hope you liked the sock puppets. :)

I think we'll get back to hemp eventually. Just like legalizing cannabis, it's going to take time.

Mr. Clean...nice! If you want to make seeds again you can use one of two silver methods (CS or STS) to reverse one branch to make pollen and create your own fem seeds. That way you don't have to keep a perpetual if you wanted to take a break or run completely different strains for a while.

Quickie Tuesday update! I thought I would post a couple of pics of my Peyote Critical quadline on day 64. It's hard to see what's going on because of all the top growth. Do I start selecting branches yet or do I wait until it's in its final home and trained to the edge of that pot before picking and choosing? Calling @newty @Derbybud @Mr. Magoo!

Have to get back to work! Getting busy for some reason at the end of the year o_O. Catch y'all later!
Throw some lights on her and a star on the top and id bet you would sell out in 30 seconds.. home depot missing out on profits lol

Thanks that clears it up

Don’t use twine!
Thanks newty...no twine and my footwear is exactly the same! Ahh warmer days in the frozen north. Good thing Duggs is not in this thread or we'd have more posts about toes.

Because of the time of year I don't think I'd take off many fans as I need to suck up as much sun as I can. I'm going to up-can this weekend, bury it 2 nodes down, and see what it looks like in a 10 gallon pot. With a 4 foot fixture in there, all 3 big pots should fit (BT2, PC, and Sour G).

Thanks for attending my TED talk on weed sex, I hope you liked the sock puppets.
Oh I thought those were newty's actual socks! Excellent description and those puppets really had me fooled :thumb:.

How close are the new L.e.d strips too being fired up ?
A 10 foot row of incense sticks? A big mirror aimed from one side of the tree to the other? Maybe I'll line the top of the wall with mint plants (does mint smell on its own and not just when you rub it?). I don't know what smells more than cannabis though...
Thinking Sage and rosemary would be good for this considering your climate?

The frame is on a UPS truck cruising through the snowy western US but it doesn't have a delivery date on the tracking website yet, so I'm guessing it will get here later in the week. If it's here by Friday I'll do the build on Saturday and hope to have it fired up on Saturday night! Step-by-step photos will be included. :)

Rosemary is another one of those plants that only smells when you rub against it but I haven't grown any sage. It's gotta be stinky 24/7 like my plants ;).

Cant wait to see it myself!!
A course it has to be delayed getting to your house:eek: thats how luck goes anymore specially when your excited to get something..:yahoo:

Just got caught up. All 14 pages. Gardens looking good Shed. I'm not a big trimmer until close to flip but I'd take that center runner out and keep trying to keep that canopy flat is all.
Damn I hope you just skimmed those pages Derby!

This plant is way more active than the quaded HazeX so I'm not sure if I can keep it as flat as I'd like. Is topping the inside growth a thing? I think I'm going to tie some of those fans down so I can see what the growth looks like without taking anything yet. Extreme leaf tucking :).

I've topped plants 3 or 4 times when that center gets out of hand. Or try pulling those centers outward into the holes of the "X".

Jasmine, lavender, or zillions of fresia flowers?!
Your next girlfriend should be more sturdy.
More of a lot of things, this one is not...

I soo got a mental pic of you "signing off" as teacher.
Excellent class
