InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Man! Cool post Shed.
Thanks Jon, nice to see you 'round these parts!
A couple observations:
1. Damn you and/or your peeps must just adore that Candida. I’ve been here a few minutes now, and since I’ve known you there’s been an active Candida in your grow, seemingly at all times. I know you have a mother plant of it, but although I haven’t yet taken the mother plant plunge, I suspect they aren’t worth maintaining unless you really love the strain.
Candida is almost entirely CBD, and every day my wife and I take the oil I make. I've had two different batches tested so I know exactly what the numbers are, which makes consistent dosing possible. Since it's no longer available for sale I like to keep the mother around so the CBD/THC content will match the tests I had done. At $75 a pop it seems easier to do than to start from scratch with another CBD variety next time I get close to running out of flower.
2. The fireworks pictures are amazing. I especially am in love with the first one. All you had to do was hold up one of your nugs to get it in the picture and you had Photo of the Year potential!!!
Great work by you!
I had a few different varieties with me that night, but all of it was ground and all were back at the house where the party was. :)

:ciao:

Here are some Candida cuttings I took on new year's day when I wasn't crawling under the house trying to find the source of an unidentified smell...which I still have not identified. :(
Yuck. Be careful…and yes, hire someone!
And when I do flip I will need to find a spot for the Le Creme CBG auto at night
Why?
I'm still giving this one veg nutes because I don't want to bother mixing flower strength for a little auto,
:eye-roll: Maybe that’s why she is still little….but beautiful. :cheesygrinsmiley:
I'm not sure there will be room for the auto once I flip the photos,
Again, why? She looks like she’s got 2-3 weeks until harvest. She doesn’t care what the light cycle is, you don’t think you have room for all three in that time period?

Hey Boo! :ciao:
Yuck. Be careful…and yes, hire someone!
I'm putting it off as long as I can in hopes the smell goes away on its own. But if it doesn't I will definitely pay someone to find the offending rodent!

Har! It's little because it stopped growing the second it went into flower because it's an auto in my grow journal. :thumb:

Because I want it to get as much light as possible to bulk the few buds there are. Autos grown at 12/12 will never get as fat as those grown at 24/0 unless they are getting all the PPFD they need in 12 hours. And there's no way this one can being in the tent with no sunlight for the next two weeks:

a PVC frame with a tarp over it.
Wait what?! 😃 This is a simple enough build surely, and it really is a step up from the bin bag rig. What do you suspend the light from? Is it just used for the dark period or is it set up for an environmentally controlled grow like in a tent?

I hung the light from the top of the frame with no environmental control at all:

I did cover it with a tarp at one point for light deprivation, but not with the light in there as well since it wasn't tall enough:

Best I could do was the fan and the mini dehuey, though I'm not sure that did any good in a shed in the backyard. It wasn't sealed air tight!

Admittedly, I've taken advantage of your offer to jump in any time, so I don't understand this:
I'm still giving this one veg nutes because I don't want to bother mixing flower strength for a little auto, but you can see the calcium deficiency on the lower leaves:

What nutes are you using? Why wouldn't you just give a light dose of Bloom nutes which would have different ratios of NPK than Veg nutes? Also, if it's just a CAL deficiency, you can just add a little Cal-Mag to whatever you're feeding them, but I'd be giving bloom nutes if/when they're in bloom.

BTW, I know you know this which is why I'm interested in what you're actually doing! ;)

Good question!

I blend my own nutes from a lot of stuff I have on hand, in order to hit certain targets/ratios that scale up throughout the grow (I use a nute calculator to handle that). I could add calmag (I have TPS 0-0-0 these days), but if the plant is asking for calcium, it also means it needs more of everything else as well.

Next time I mix up nutes I'll mix some late flower blend and just dilute it down for the photos in veg, which is what I do with the full-strength veg nutes when feeding younger plants.

Just to give you an idea of what I'm currently using to hit the targets, it's BlueMax A, MC, magnesium nitrate, TPS calmag, and Front Row Ag monosilicic acid (MSA).

Excellent. :thumb:

OK....So, you just didn't want to have to mix up a whole batch of bloom at that time just to dilute it down for that one auto, and it's not some mad experiment to get a plant to harvest with only veg nutes. I get it! ;)

Very cool that you're making your own nutes! :high-five:

Thanks! Not just one auto, but one auto I didn't want to begin with.

The seeds of this Le Creme CBG come with a disclaimer that 20% of them will be autos, so I dropped two seeds. 50% of mine were. :cheesygrinsmiley:

My luck, too! I always say that whenever I have a 50/50 chance, I'll pick wrong 95% of the time!

Poor thing. Lol. I honestly and going to be hoping for an auto! So I'll get 2 photos lol! Are you gonna have it tested for cbgs? I'd love to hit it with some gg4xsiberian auto pollen!

I gave away almost all my auto seeds and next thing I know I'm growing an autoflower! Just my luck. 🍀

I'm not going to have these tested because the breeder sent me two different test results so I'm pretty confident they'll be close to 13% CBG (tests showed 13-15% CBGa). They even knew that the autos test the same as the photos so it sounded like they'd done the work.

Also, they're a hemp dealer with minimum orders of 100 seeds so it's gotta be legit or they'd be out of business!

I really dig the setup InTheShed! You also have some very interesting educational links in your bio!! I always though flushing was a thing and credited flushing for why my ash burned white haha but now I’m thinking it’s bc I never exceed 1200ppm
Hope you’re having a beautiful night mate

Thanks him! Flushing was a thing for a long time until the scientists stepped up to show that nutrient numbers in the flowers never changed with plain water at the end. Before that it was just something people "sensed."

I never understood the search for the holy grail of white ash anyway! Complete combustion? Dry buds do that, wet buds don't. Just like logs. 🪵

Here's a Leafly take on it:

And one from cannabis biz times:

I love learning, mate!! That does check out! On the other hand, I have had the unfortunate pleasure of smoking some buds that were overtly dry and snap crackle popped with sparks and all leaving a black ash 🤮
Asked my buddy what he use for flowering, he said - “Koolblooms powder”
I crossed that one of my list of things to try as bud boosters and have actually come to the idea that massive phosphorous boosts are unnecessary if not harmful

I added a couple of links after you saw my post so go check them out if you're interested. Drying and curing is the best way to get great smokeable flower!

100%!

I think this was based on one study published a couple/few years ago in High Times. It wasn't conclusive but the "testers" preferred the weed that wasn't flushed and there wasn't a noticeable difference in the mineral (salt) content of the finished product.

I don't flush anymore, either, but I grow organic now so it's not needed. If I was using chemical ferts, I personally would probably still flush, which isn't scientific proof of anything other than it would make me feel better. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I really appreciate the information InTheShed!’ I actually have come to the conclusion over a lot of research that ions are ions and the plants actually can’t tell the difference between organic or synthetic. If anything, I believe organic lend to higher levels of heavy metals in the finished product. I know many people talk about flavor differences but I believe terpenes are the origin of flavor in smoked flower, and I’ve had some of the most amazing tasting buds growing with 100% synth nutes. I also have been blessed to have access to some of the most incredible genetic lines imo. Copycat Genetix has been the genetic provider of my last 2 grows(including my current grow with ‘Babysitter’ and Exotic Genetix provided the genetics of my first grow. And I think genetics are everything when it comes to flavor and overall smoke experience :D

I think it should be noted that if I had the mobility I would absolutely give hi-Brix or living organic soil a dedicated attempt but I try to make the best with what I have and for now until physical therapy and my new treatment really start showing results I’m stuck with mixing nutes which has almost no physically intense involvement or doesn’t require cooking large quantities of soil in drums outside to allow the myc’s to build a beautiful symbiotic ecosystem for plants
