InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Anyone looking for today's new sprout and ball pics, they're here!

Been doing great. Still got the collection just looks a lot different now. Lol. As far as cannabis goes I’ve created a few nice strains. Bigfoot’s Dick is in dispensaries in Oklahoma and is being entered by a farmer in a cup soon for best indica. Pretty cool. That one along with Sex Panther and Vaulted Skunk were part of a big skunk hunt this year that Heart and Soil Seeds has been working on. All 3 have made his top tier in a couple categories. Beat out some really well known skunks to get there and will be in some future breeding projects if his. Been a crazy little ride. Lol
My state is still behind the times so I can’t even share all that with people I know.
So in real life, got married last year. That’s going awesome. All the kids are doing great.

How about you brother? How’s everything?
Sounds like you have been busy as fuck! Congrats on all the crosses and success with them. :welldone: I knew you were collecting a large number of varieties but don't recall the breeding side...might have been after you skedaddled?

And I remember there were upcoming nuptials for you (part of why you stopped growing for a bit as I recall) so congrats on that as well. Glad to hear the kids are great and I hope your dad is too after all this time. Say hi to the fam for me!

Oh yeah, and if I drive though OK I will have to see if I can spot some Bigfoot's Dick. :cheesygrinsmiley:

the brown one is glazed with the dirt from a path new my house down by the Playa del Rey marshes
I recognized them as test fires because I used to be a potter in a former life. I enjoyed Raku and pit firing... did you get into that?
Run your autos as close to 24/0 as you can given the electric bill!
I thought that I had read that before. Thank you.

I couldn't agree more. I also top WAY before flowering whenever possible. I don't understand the idea behind waiting until you see pistils to top. Seems counterproductive to me.
Same I top as soon as I can get scissors in at 4th starting 5th node have done it on 6 autos now and never a stunted or slowed growth....and fairly big plants to.

Oh nice! I'd love to see some pics of your stuff if you want to drop them in an off-topic thread like this one:

I don't have any access to Raku or pit firing, so all my work is fired in my kiln to full maturity. My pieces have to be functional because they ain't that beautiful!
I thought that I had read that before. Thank you.
You can get away with less than 24 if your lights are bright enough, but 12/12 is only for photos you want to flower as soon as they're sexually mature. I certainly wouldn't go less than 18/6, but more is almost always better if the electric bill isn't a constraint.

After 15 minutes that gets replaced with regular distilled water and they're put in the dark at 80ºF. This morning at 9:15am I found this:
Hi Shed :ciao:

If you didn't find a tail, would you have left them in the water, and for how long? I've been doing the paper towel method but decided to try this way to test the viability of a bunch of STS seeds. I like that I won't have to mess around with PT checking if they've cracked. Can I just leave them in water until they crack? If they don't crack in the water, can I assume they're lemons and toss em?

(No offense to your lemons)

Great question Adora and :welcome: to my perpetual grow journal! I appreciate your concern for my lemons' feelings too. :)

I almost always wait for the seed to split (at least) before I plant it, but I have also been told (and many do this) to plant it after 24 hour soak, whether it's split or not.

The pro to waiting for a split is that you know you will at least get a tap root out of it. If you plant it without a split you don't know if you're expecting anything 3 days later or not!

The con of leaving it longer in water is if it splits too far (like when you're not looking aka sleeping/at work) and you end up with a floater where the shell comes off completely:
full

When that happens to me I can never get them to grow.

All that said, almost 100% of my seeds have split in around 24 hours. As I recall, the ones that I planted un-split never did sprout.

Hope that helps, and it's nice to have you as a new addition to the thread here!

Best strain name ever!

Sweet it looks like a little swan, nice photo. Thanks

Your babies are so cute.

oh really Shed, now I'm wondering what it is that you make. I studied ceramics at tech more than quarter of a century ago as part of an art diploma, and the photos are in hard copy and mothballed in a faraway place. I have fond memories and have forgotten the techniques. It was a good time.

Ok thank you for this. I will play it by the electric meter. Working around "loadshedding" will be a bit of a bind. It will go as close to 24/7 as Eskom will allow us. When they shed load it is 2.5 hours each time and that can be once to several times a day depending on the severity of the outages.

Astounding, even!! A foundational shift
Absobloominlutely! It stopped me in mid-thought when she said it.
happy 420 sprouts, pollen sacs and accolades Shed!
Thank you kindly Ms Gardner! It's so nice to have you come by for a visit.

I hope you and the lively other are doing splendidly, and that your garden was in full bloom this summer! If possible we would all love to see some pics of what's been going on down under in your journal.
Here comes summer time summertime sum sum summertime! Summer ti iei me! Love those two picks Shed!
Thanks Otter! I'm looking forward to seeing what I can accomplish in soil this sum sum summertime. :cheesygrinsmiley:

It does! And then it was dead. ;)

Just the standard household wares: bowls, coffee cups, vases, casseroles, pitchers...stuff like that. Folks did seem to appreciate the pieces I gave them though. :)

Best reason to grow autos! No need to worry about loadshedding. :thumb:

What’s up guys! Been a while. Popping in to say hi on this 4/20!
Hey Magoo!!! Great to see you stop in!

Wow Shed, Amy and Magoo stopping by. This is definitely the place to be. ;)

They're so cute when they're babies....look at the little Trainwreck....just want to cuddle her...Lol!

:happy-birthday: (a day belated I suppose technically....)

Quicky Friday evening update after a very windy day here. Lots blown over but nothing damaged. Phewf!

Since the buds were at 62% this morning, here is the final weight for the Doug's Varin, harvested on April 9th and with another week left of burping:

That's 247g (8.7 oz), and at 158 days above soil it works out to 1.6g/day. Not my best but it's okay for a late winter grow! One of these days I'll get my harvest spreadsheet updated. :hmmmm:

I hope you all have great weekends planned and that the weather cooperates. Stay safe out there!

Already again Happy Happy Happy 2 day old baby girls
Thanks sb! 3 day old today, and maybe pics this weekend as proof of life. :)

Congrats on a glorious harvest, Shed! Nice trim game too. Those buds look very tasty, I love the color on them. I have a question for you: you know how outdoor plants vs. indoor have a different sort of "stemage" factor? It seems to me that you can almost always tell an outdoor grown plant by looking at the buds, if you know what I mean. They form a little "wilder" or something, not really sure what word to use.

Assuming you're with me so far, your Doug Varin was an indoor/outdoor plant, correct? So my question is, do you notice a difference along the lines of what I'm describing with an indoor/outdoor vs. a straight indoor vs. a straight outdoor?

Sorry if that's sort of a weird, esoteric question, I was a bit lost trying to express what I'm thinking. Thanks!!
