Wednesday update? Supercropping!
As many of you know, I'm a big proponent of supercropping. So much so that I did an entire tutorial on it here:
Anyone interested in a bit on supercropping? Here is my introduction to the technique. I don't deal so much on the actual way to perform a supercrop, but the reasons and places to do it: DISCLAIMER: This is high stress plant training and I do not recommend it for an autoflower plant. Not that...

But my tutorial and this post have nothing to do with the basic supercrops people use to avoid leaders burning in the lights or to keep the canopy flat. That's basic info that almost everyone understands. My supercrops are all about increasing the number of tops a plant will produce, without additional topping. It's what I used to create my POTM winner, with a total of 59 tops in the end:
If you're interested in this technique and haven't read my thread on it, I suggest you read the first post. It's got loads of pictures and explanations as to how and why to do it.
When I thinned the Tin Can Kush on Sunday, I was left with a couple of gaps on the side of the plant where there were no longer any branches. Well...empty space is wasted space, so I bent two of the central branches out into those gaps without making the plant any wider. And what did I gain by making those two bends?
A bunch of new tops!
Eight of them by my count.
Last for today harkens back to the cuttings I took on April 14th, five weeks ago. All of the first round of Candida and TCK cuttings died, but two of the Red Dragon cuttings are still hanging on:
I still don't see any roots through the clear cups, but they're not dead (
yet). I did notice that the leaves are very green, which got me thinking about the used ProMix that I filled the cups with [with which I filled the cups]. I remember reading that nitrogen in the soil inhibits root growth in cuttings, which may have been part of my problem with the rest of the cuttings (along with the old Dip'n Grow). It also may be the reason that I don't see roots on these, and the reason they are very dark.
So I flushed the ProMix with fresh water this morning and put them back under the CFL to see if that helps.
We'll see!
Cruising through the week like
Aha yeah couldn't find it anywhere but i sure did look
Only place
to find it would be this thread!
Herer is some top notch smoke and they can get quite large if you let them run wild.
I'm waiting for it to run wild! I'm hoping it will eventually challenge me with its crazy growth.
New things are different. You'll get a handle on it and they'll come around! I'm almost positive!
Thank you Otter! Soil may take some getting used to after so many plants in peat.
Man, you have been super busy! I'm sure all of your labor will reap you many rewards.
And if it doesn't, well, it's the effort that counts.
Excellent advice...thanks GDB!
I was right.
The Black Phoebe is related to the Flycatcher. Makes me happy since I'm a new birder.
Thank you HG! I have noticed fewer flies this spring, so that certainly explains it. I guess I'll put up with the pile of bird poop in the corner of the door to the shed...seems only fair!
