InTheShed Grows Inside & Out: Jump In Any Time

Thanks Fred, will do!

No plant pics today as I wait for the thirsty ones to perk up after getting fed this morning, but I do want to remind everyone to

Yeah, get out your darts.

For those who are celebrating today (as opposed to last Sunday, or never): happy Easter!

Hi shed, heck yeah it's better than the virus lol! Glad to hear more are getting the vax. My 2nd will be on the 16th.
Expecting a few symptoms but otherwise awesome! Smile and stay stoneder
Counting the days!
I agree! And you’re still alive. My coworkers husband passed away, and he was only 44.
How awful. :( And so many people thought it was a hoax. It's been an terrible year for facts.
It's great when spouses can get vaxed together! My wife got hers a week before I got mine. During the week in between I may has well have been a leper. No touchy-feely was allowed until I got my shot!
No shot, un-hung curtains...who knows what will put the kibosh on touchy-feely. ;)
Yeah, get out your darts.
Too late even for darts. I'll remind you earlier next time!

We'll be shot twice and ripened to 100% on Tuesday! Going for take out! Sounds anticlimactic but that's fine for now.
Little things are the new adventures!

We do take out all the time (brought in pizza and subs last night). But I called the restaurant we wanted to pick up from to find out if they had in-person dining now and they said yes. Then I asked if they had moved their pick-up line outside and they said no. I told them I would have to pass. They lost over $80 just on my order alone!

Not sure what I would have done if I was two weeks post second vax...

For all who celebrate:

Happy Easter All! Shed and @Grand Daddy Black, I just wrapped up my grow and have my final weights. I double checked and I'm honestly surprised but I double weighed everything. MC in the 5 gallon came in at 8.05 oz dried vs. GF in the 10 gallon at 4.50 dried. This was trimmed and dried bud only and did not count any small popcorn buds that were fresh frozen (I like to think I applied a fairly consistent cut off on size with both plants).

The left and middle jar is from the MC plant, while the right jar and only the right jar is the GF. I also feel the MC bud is denser. I've had a few friends try both and there has not been any discernible quality from GF that would warrant the diminished yields. I by no means am saying this will be everyone's or for that matter anyone else's experience, but just my findings.

Anyways, next two clones are up and I am just running MC. Might keep the GF for the garden.

Holy cow Jerry, that's a huge difference! :thanks: for the update. Can you remind me if these were clones or seeds? I can't remember now.

The fact that there is no difference in taste doesn't surprise me though, ions being ions and all!
These were clones, really only difference was I gave the GF a larger pot. It did not thank me like I hoped it would :/. The whole grow, the MC looked like it had the lead but it really took off towards the end both on volume and density, of which both obviously played an important role in the final yield.

I am certainly more experienced with MC so I’m sure my lack of experience with GF, as well as lack of resources, partially because it’s so new inhibited my performance. That being said, from a price point and ease of use I’m not sure I see much point continuing. I find myself always enamored when someone finds a new nutrient line and gives glowing reviews, many times only to find out a few grows later they aren’t quite as thrilled with it as they first seemed. MC has given me nothing to complain about so, here I go crawling back! Always takes me back though LOL

These were clones
Thanks, I thought they were!

And I remember you agonizing over the correct feeding levels, so it's not like you weren't paying attention.
I’m sure my lack of experience with GF, as well as lack of resources, partially because it’s so new inhibited my performance.
If you have a bag to feed them with, I don't understand how a lack of resources is a factor in the GF results. Nor should a lack of experience matter for a product that you top dress and water in.
Always takes me back though
So sweet!

It's obviously one variety and one grow, but I'm grateful you've given us this information at the cost of a lot of extra bud! The huge difference wouldn't seem to make sense, as the GF doesn't look any different from the MC (they're both equally fading).

The difference in pot size could be significant though, in a way that wouldn't be obvious at first. For example, the 10 gallon plant would need more time for the roots to grow to gain access to all the nutes you provided for it. Also, transplanting a 1 gallon into a 10 gallon (assuming that was your last upcan) would make it difficult to water it efficiently without causing wet feet, which would slow a plant down.

Since they weren't truly identically-grown plants in the end it's tougher to make a true comparison.

I don't have clones to run side by side this grow, but when I do I will try to duplicate your results, but in identical pots.

i am new to the game so i am just asking to put it into my perspective:
"if" both nutrient regiments were "ideally" equal the ten gallon pot should have produced more than the five gallon pot just on the sizes of the pots themselves generally speaking?
:welcome: to my grow journal billy! All things being equal, a plant in a 10 gallon pot has the potential to produce a bigger harvest than one in a 5 gallon pot, but you would need to veg the 10 gallon plant for longer for it to take advantage of the space you've given it.

Wow. Things are looking good for MC down the road.

The buds in the right jar don't look as dense as the ones in the left jars. Is that the case, Jerry? I've notice my GF buds are okay but no where near as firm and dense as the 5 MC plants that she shares the tent with.

Looking good over here Shed! Hope the tremor didn‘t roll you out of bed!

It is great when spouses can get vaxxed together......which didn’t happen For us. Long story short - I was told to sign up at the place I took my mom to for her shots, which I did for both of us; the appointments were confirmed two days in advance; we arrived for our first shots......and were turned away because we are from the county adjacent to the shot clinic. No phone call, no email, no nothing but a waste of our time and honestly I felt totally humiliated and pissed. A “glitch in the online system” they said. Problem is, there are NO vaccination clinics in our county so wtf? So, my hubby was able to get his first shot at another clinic, in another county (he has a slight advantage over me as he’s a little older and has a heart issue) And I got nothing. They are now rolling out the Johnson and Johnson vaccine to places like Walmart and Costco pharmacies and I supposedly have an appointment tomorrow for that shot. Fingers crossed!

Well that sucks Boo, hope you can get it soon . I am glad y'all are doing the comparison grow , 5 oz. difft. anit to be laughed at ! They had another vote on Medical Marijuana were at 54% to the good ! They say that there missing out on a lot of revenue GO FIGURE ! a few are advocating for it even reck pot they want to decriminalize but not Legalize it .. I personally think there all a bunch of fucking drunks . NC lawmakers aim to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana

Morning/afternoon/evening/tomorrow everyone! The earthquake woke us all up this morning (well...three of us as my daughter drove back up to college yesterday) but no damage. Our dog jumped on the bed but she wasn't panting or anything, so I think it was just an excuse to get some love. And of course our son came in to check on us as he was still up at 4:45am - because he doesn't have class until Tuesday. Kids!

It was pretty close to us, but only a 4.0 magnitude, so phewf. The star is where the epicenter was and the leaf is around my general area:

Feel the quake? All good?
Thanks for the check-in Otter! All good.
Things are looking good for MC down the road.
"Always stick with what's working" is terrific advice. :)

I'm not writing off the GeoFlora yet. We have a lot of folks giving it a try and getting good results, and I'd still like to see true side-by-side comparisons run by a few different growers.
Looking good over here Shed! Hope the tremor didn‘t roll you out of bed!
LOL, no! Wasn't that big or roly even. More like a bang than lots of side-to-side shaking.
and were turned away because we are from the county adjacent to the shot clinic.
Oof! Not much in the way of coordination.

Srsly, WTF?

Phewf!

Fair enough. I have more than a few years on my wife. :)
and has a heart issue
I hope he's taking care of himself. I've taken to going out with my son when he takes our dog for a long walk every night.
And I got nothing.
Oof!
I supposedly have an appointment tomorrow for that shot. Fingers crossed!
:crossed: for the one-and-done!
they want to decriminalize but not Legalize it
Still a step forward. Some states will never get to full legalization, but paying a fine is a lot better than spending time in the slammer for weed!

Exactly the case, MC bud structure is far superior imho. GF buds aren't "bad" but the density is visually noticeable and when sitting in jars side by side, I would argue disappointing. To be clear, there most certainly could be a component of user error (I didn't butcher it or anything, but I also have never grown organically before) and under a more experienced hand the outcome could be different.

I'm in the same boat, Jerry.

I'm growing my first plant using GF and I know I've made mistakes, from probable overfeeding to underwatering. I'm not in any position to judge their product fairly. But now that more folks are trying it I'll be eyes wide open to their comments and results. Guys like @InTheShed and @Justin Goody typically turn out top notch buds and will immediately notice any major differences from their prior grows.

I bought a palette of popcorn for this! :Rasta:

I'll be using GF nutes all the way through with my 2 plants, and have no complaints so far- but it will be interesting to see how the buds shape up...
