Saved! Thank you!Got this from SweetSue in a PM...here goes:
"I count the mother as simply 1. The first clone is 1.1, the next 1.2 and so on.
When I clone from one of them it becomes 1.1.1 or 1.2.1, etc. Following it back the last one I listed - 1.2.1 - was the first clone taken from the second clone taken from the first mother.
The next genetic line would have read 2.2.1, denoting the first clone from the second clone of the second mother. I find this very easy to follow and it can track as many lines as needed without confusion.
Seed plant = 1.0
Clone from that = 1.1
Clone from that (the first AK) = 1.1.1
Clone from that (the mother) = 1.1.1.1
Clones taken from that mother = 1.1.1.1.1, 1.1.1.1.2, 1.1.1.1.3, etc
At this point you're five generations in, counting the seed plant, and that's reflected in the numbering.
Say you took two clones from the seed plant and did the same with each generation, two clones from each. You'd have
Seed plant = 1.0
Clones from her = 1.1 & 1.2
Clones from them = 1.1.1, 1.1.2, & 1.2.1, 1.2.2
Next generation = 1.1.1.1, 1.1.1.2, 1.1.2.1, 1.1.2.2, & 1.2.1.1, 1.2.1.2, 1.2.2.1, 1.2.2.2
Final generation = 1.1.1.1.1, 1.1.1.1.2, 1.1.1.2.1, 1.1.1.2.2, 1.1.2.1.1, 1.1.2.1.2, I think that's far enough to take this illustration.
You see where this is going? I only do one cutting per plant, so the numbers don't get that confusing."
I've lost track on the AK's, but the others are all accurate. My BC clone from AW is 2.2 (second clone from second seed plant), and any cuttings from that plant are 2.2.x.
