In The Lab

Back at ya! I'm working all day, then working some more. Won't get to smoke till about 6 PM.

Same here, work till 2:30 today and then you know what time it is...4:20 :) Have a great day Docbud!

I saw those but a digital one seems like an easier time :) I like easy. lol

Using the refractometer is super easy. Getting the sample is the tough part. I recommend a stainless mortar and pestle or a device designed to crush samples for brix readings. The samples must be taken meticulously, the same way, every time.

Don't cheat and use large fans that are starting to yellow, and don't leaves on plants that are obviously struggling, crispy or unhealthy.

Test healthy, green tissue, and include exactly the same parts of the plant each time you take a sample.

I'll still have to go do my research on how to take samples. Watch videos and such. I just got to the end of this journal and got quite some months before i'm close to a flowering plant :)

I've mentioned how I do here and there on several threads. The important thing is to have a consistent practice: IE take a healthy top from a lower branch with fan leaf and petiole....grind up the whole sample thoroughly. Do it this way each and every time.

Warning: sampling crispy leaves will give a high number....just like raisins are higher brix than grapes, due to dehydration.

I use very healthy tissue at time of pruning.

Soil is cooking! The bins sit on tiny wheels so they don't touch the floor and temps are between 68F and 82F. I'll be germinating some Tangie Ghost Train by Lil chief collabs around the 28th of May.

Be sure to keep it good and moist the whole time. It can't be soggy, but it should be wet enough to make your hands grimy. :thumb:
