I grew up on Country. Rock and Roll was the Devil's music and was not allowed in our house or anywhere else they could hear it. I don't listen to Country anymore unless there's some damn good oldies playin'.
I have a LOT of favorites from back then, and Merle Haggard was one.
An all time favorite that even mentions Merle in it, was David Allen Coe's "You Never Even Called Me By My Name"'
This is verse 4
"I was drunk the day my Mom got out of prison.
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got run over by a damned old train."
Now that is going to stick in my head the rest of the day, and I'm about to youtube it full blast.
