Imtoasted's Journey Of Perpetual Bliss

Good call on the mold didnt think about that.. yea idk about the window thing i just get worried about other people seeing it and wondering what it is lol. Maybe i can poke a little hole and see what's up in the attic. Afraid it will be full of that fibery spray insulation.. i wonder where the hell the access is to the attic... hmm.

So i think im gonna buy advanced nutrients bloom, micro and grow and a ppm meter. No need to test ph when you are using it so that will save me like 30 bucks. Plus im interested in it seeing other people that are using it too. Its only 30 bucks on amazon for the trio of 1l bottles. Pretty good deal it seems like.. im gonna go with my gut and buy it now before i get anyones opinions. But i would still like to hear them of course! Thanks guys!

Lots of people have great things to say about AN. The ph perfect I believe works best if you use RO water though. I have heard some people say they used tap water and the ph was not quite on point.
If venting out a window. Put a regular blind up against the window. Take some wood or a thick cardboard box and cut a hole in it so you can put the exhaust end through it. Then mount box or wood around window frame. Open window of course. Outside just looks like blinds. Tap or nail the blind right up against the window so it won't move around though.

Glad my app is working again.. things with the ladies are going well after their dose of calmag. I think the sickness has stopped spreading and they look happy. Im gonna raise em up a bit so they are closer to the light, they look like they want more. Im thinking about cutting a hole in the wall to vent my exhaust through. The heat builds up throughout the day on that side of the house. Idk what the hell i would be doing so im not sure if i will do it or not lol. Will venting into the wall be ok or just make it hotter in the closet? Theres a good amount of space in the wall i would be venting the air into. Too worried to cut into the ceiling i think that would lead to trouble.

Well I like it as I never worry about ph anymore check time to time run off but yeah. I use it with mostly rain water. Any questions toasted on here bud

Hmm damn ok ill have to keep an eye on it, maybe ill buy ro water then.. it wouldnt be expensive for just two plants. Should i just do it just incase? When i get the meter ill check the bubbled tap water to see what the ppms are. Im assuming that's what messes with the ph. Even if i get another viparspectra its gonna be a bigger light so it may put out around the same amount of heat as the mars. Ill have to figure some way to get rid of the heat.. itll kill me once i get to flower. Thanks for the tips bud!

Idk joe just wondering if i could use the fox farms powdered nutes with it once i get to flower. Im sure no ones knows ill just have to try it.. honestly going to use the stuff that didn't go bad too so ill be mixing a lot of things again lol. Going to use the high npk stuff very sparingly.. there are three of them so i was thinking of using each of them once during flower. Instead of with every feeding and id only use a very tiny bit. Excited to try it all out!

I believe that it has to do with ph levels of tap water being inconsistent from region to region. I use RO water and it is always right at 6.4. It costs about 2.00 to refill a 5gal jug.

Well my tap worked okay but rain water was better .

More organic the better in my mind

My tap was coming out at 120 ppm
Rain water 08-30 lol ppm. Means more room for food lol

No problem problem. Ask anything any time .

My advice would be if you own your home vent it into the attic, simple to do, all you need is a stud finder to find your rafters, a keyhole or jab saw to cut out the size of hole you need in the ceiling sheetrock, a 3 or 4' piece of round ducting that you can find at any home improvement store, a collar at the same store to secure it to the ceiling, a garbage bag to catch the insulation that falls out when you cut that last inch,(Move your plants out before you start this) and a vacuum cleaner to clean up the mess you will make. 1 hour job at the most.

Venting into the attic as long as you have a inline fan pushing it out will disperse your heat and smell to the attic and the vents on the outside (soffit vents) will allow everything in your grow room to make its way outside. A carbon filter in your grow room will keep everyone from walking by stopping and enjoying the air when walking by!

If you want this space to be a permanent grow room, that is the way to go, just remember if you are not going to be using it year round, you will have to block it off with insulation...in the summer heat will enter the living space through the duct and in the winter lots of cold air if left open and not used.. so it needs to be plugged.:smokin2:

If i owned it i would have tried it but i just rent it out. Will the piece i cut be able to to be replaced? I think i can see the studs from where the screws are in the dry wall in the ceiling. Ive got the ducting, inline fan and carbon filter.. i just need a saw and a collar to hold it in place. Good idea to use a garbage bag to catch the stuff. Thanks if i end up doing it that helps a lot!

Just keep the piece you cut out and patch it back in with a piece of board above the drywall about 2" wider than the hole you cut... add a screw on each side of the board and a couple in the piece you cut out. cover it with premixed drywall compound and spray texture that you can find at the box home stores and paint it...nobody except you and anyone that helps will know.:yahoo:

Imtoasted's Second Journey To The Promised Land

Hey Toast I just switched to RO water for my hydro grow and I like it better. Not knowing what's in my water makes it hard to know if I need cal mag or not!

Not to derail the thread but how do you guys get your hands on 5 gal jugs?
Edit: nvm google is all knowing and wise

Get them from Walmart. Culligan usually has a stand there if in Canada. Just dump out the shitty water in there and go fill at a reputable RO station. Love using RO makes it super simple to be consistent. Always the same ph and under 15ppm. I just measure my ph adjuster in ml and it tests within 1 point every time. Actually knew my ph pen needed calibration because of it.

Ordered online for in store pickup. Thanks!

Damn i looked up in the attic and there are mounds of that fiber insulation everywhere ontop of the ceiling.. its gonna be a mess. I really hope i dont cut into a spot where there is 2' deep of that shit. Maybe ill crawl up in the attic and move that stuff around out of the way where i want to cut my hole.. that may be the easiest way to do it. Good thing im a skinny guy lol. Gonna need one of those masks and some gloves.. idk if i want to be breathing or even touching that stuff too much. Its probably asbestos city up in there.

Walk along the joices usually every foot apart I believe be safe bud

Oh yea i dont think you can even see the beams up there cause of the insulation so i will definitely have to watch my step.. thanks joe. ive been in crappy attics before though.. i have a thing with attics, i think they are really neat for some reason lol its like an unexplored mystery filled with spider webs and asbestos haha

Take a stick. With tape up there Poke stick in insulation wrap with the tape red tape best or coloured. Keep the bottom line of tape even with the depth of the stick poked then. Easier it downstairs. Now you'll also be able to know what r value you will be at as well ..

Very true guys.. thank you for sharing your experiences! I love connecting with my plants it is very zen-like.

So i have an update, not only did my ph pen brake but some of my nutes went bad cause they got too hot lol.. so im judging by the smell and how they look to see what is still good and what isnt. Thankfully the calmag survived as its looking like they need that the most right now. Poor ladies are having a hard time.. im really putting them through the ringer this time. Definite calmag deficiency.. good call on spotting it early joe!

The mammoth-p i have been using may be bad.. ill have to open the other sample bottle and see if it is still good.

Definitely subbed I am running VK from barneys and ran IB before both great strains, watch out for vk to hermie easily but ib can take a beating

Gonna have to craw up there bud. Drill a hole where you want it from downstairs then push a rod through the hole up a good foot. Then crawl up there and clean out the insulation around your stick. That way when you cut your hole it won't rain insulation down on you. Then you will have to go back up after you mount your exhaust to fill the area around the hose. I would tie that hose up above the insulation as well.
