Re: Icemud's LED Overkill - 3x Advanced LED XTE 300s - Blue Dream - University Hills

Hello Icemud! I've read through all of your previous journals, drooling, and it is so nice to catch up with this one in real time just as you flip to flower.

I am a true LED believer and presently in light comparison and shopping mode. Am drafting plans for a grow cabinet/closet and will select the panel(s) when dimensions are finalized, after my upcoming move to a more enlightened/legal state. Your results with the XTEs are awesome but I can't find relevant panel dimensions on their website. As the core light footprint should closely match the growspace dimensions, can you obtain and provide the actual length & width of the Advanced DS XTE 100, 200, 300 and 400?

Your girls are looking great and appear to be about 2.5' to 4' in height at end of veg. They are going to be real amazons after the flowering stretch. This grow is looking to be a great ride, am hoping to pull up a chair to enjoy the show. Many thanks, Kimosabe!

Hey Ice, how do you manage your rooms while you're out of town? Does someone water/feed for you or do you set up something automated?

Re: Icemud's LED Overkill - 3x Advanced LED XTE 300s - Blue Dream - University Hills

I think he just gave it a good watering before he left
these leds don't make the pots dry out too fast so you don't have to water as much
if im not mistaken

Gday mate just subbed in time by the looks of things :) I was curious if there is benefit to running your lights at 12.25/11.75 as opposed to 12/12?
Anyway glad i found your latest journal and am looking forward to see the final results :thumb: Happy growing to you mate :)

Re: Icemud's LED Overkill - 3x Advanced LED XTE 300s - Blue Dream - University Hills

Long time follower of your grows Icemud. :thumb:

Just tossing this out there. I too grow with the 5w EX-VEG lights and can attest to the superior vegged plants they create. I'm not even kidding when I say I have NEVER seen anything like the growth these lights produce in all kinds of plants. It's completely out of this world. I also use 2 x 400w XML's in the flowering tent and always break the 1 pound goal with 4 plants using SCROG / defoliation methods.

It's completely amazing I will never buy any other kind of light. It's nice to see others having great results with these leds. I'm so stoked I put my money on the right product. The results completely speak for themselves.

Keep up the good work brother! I'm subbed as usual but finally lurking enough to make some posts. hehehe :high-five:

Welcome back, Ice! Looking good in there..your girls missed you. :)

Thanks DrZiggy!!!! Was a long week contacting all the people I met at the tradeshow and so happy that the weekend is here :) The girls definitely missed me :)

Re: Icemud's LED Overkill - 3x Advanced LED XTE 300s - Blue Dream - University Hills

I harvested my Critical Jack Herrer yesterday......she spent a week under a mars ll 700 and then 9 weeks under the XTE 300......my best wet weight for one plant was 679grams which gave me right at 5 oz......this one came in at 1023 grams wet so should end up in the neighborhood of 7 plus oz......off a light that only pulls 235 watts from the wall.....and frostier than i have ever had too....i love the XTE and will definately be buying another to finish the flower room off.....

Gosh Darn!!! wow! thats a major yield for one plant!! I think I will be doing the same in the near future, instead of jamming 6 plants into my tent I may start reducing the plant count so that they spread out more and fill up further down :) wow! that is impressive! I have to say I love the XTE's, so far the absolute best LED's I have used thus far :) your grow looks amazing!

Hey Nightowl! Love the name as I usually am a night owl myself :)

Yea I have to say the XTE's are rocking my tent with a passion :) but I definitely am curious about the XML as well. But the rectangular shape of the XTE's works better for my setup... wouldn't mind trying a few more of the smaller XML 150's thought :)

Sure thing :)

the XTE 300 measures 20" x 12" x 3". I am not sure about the others but I will write to Advanced to see if I can get the specs.

I am happy you joined the party Tokezilla! I too am a believer in LED and I think as more and more Cannabis studies happen, and LED chips get better and better (Haitz law) we are going to see LED's take over the market :) I have grown with both HID and LED and even though currently HID has better light footprints...LED has better penetration, power savings, increased resin glands and THC, increased terpenes and so I definitely see for medicinal and agriculture LED is the future :)

So far I can say with 420% honesty that Advanced LED is SO Far the best LED's I have used, hands down. Anyone who has used Advanced that I have researched has had nothing but great things to say and amazing results :)

With LED, the footprint widely is determined by the light height, and intensity. At close distances like 1' LED doesn't spread very far past the panel dimensions, but at 2-3' they definitely spread very well so really in most cases I have found that more smaller LED's than 1 large LED is key to smaller tent grows... for large commercial grows then a grower should be using about 80% the wattage they are replacing for optimal results :)

I am hoping they don't stretch too much during the next 2 weeks, but I'm sure they will, but usually I supercrop around day 20 to increase yeild and open up the canopy for better penetration to lower bud sites :) so it shouldn't be too much of an issue :)

Glad to have ya here and stay tuned because this grow should get pretty interesting :)

Hey Heavy Consumer!!!

With the dimming LED's it makes going away so much easier on me, and stress free than my past grows with HID... I used to be so nervous of leaving 1000w of HID going while gone fearing I would come back to ashes but that fear is gone with LED.... and now that I have panels that dim, it makes it even better.

I'm prep for a trip I usually make sure a few days before I'm gone I water with slightly more volume than usual. The day that I leave, or night before, I usually will give them a extreme drench, pretty much until the runoff fills the saucers that my pots sit in. Usually before I leave I also don't mix a very nutrient heavy batch of feeding, and typically use about 1/2 doses or less of the nutrients to prevent any mishaps with overfeeding, deficiencies or anything else. I stray away from compost teas before I leave because I don't want overactive soil while gone.

As for the lights, with the XTE's, I turned off the (red channel) which features red LED chips and IR chips... Red and IR tend to "overdrive" photosynthesis due to the emerson effect, therefore by turning off the red channel not only am I lowering the PPFD of the lights but also tuning down the wavelengths that drive photosynthesis the hardest. This allows for less water uptake (theory) and allows for a few extra days inbetween feedings.

thank you Cronic!!!

I had an extremely busy week at work which drained me by the end of each day...

Thanks for picking up my slack :)

yep... a good watering with dimmed down red channel makes for an extra day or 2 days I can be gone :)

Hey Bonzmoking!!!

I'm happy you joined the party :) grab yourself a nice comfy place to chill and bring some ganja :)

I run my lights at the slightly longer schedule due to a study I read which says that a slight increase over 12/12 will give a much larger yield, but also it adds to the amount of CBG that is produced, which is a precursor to other cannabinoids...however the study also said that a 11/13 schedule or slightly less than a 12/12 produced more THC-v which is a much stronger THC version, but with less lasting effects, where CBG is a precursor to THC and other cannabinoids... I figured a larger percent of CBG and Yield outweighted the benefit of higher THC-V for broad cannabinoid profiles, however a higher THC-v would probably make for a stronger smoke being that its a much stronger effect than THC.

I 100% agree...these EX-VEG lights veg my plants so fast!! its amazing... and the nodes are definitely much more compact when grown under high PPFD.

I have literally chopped my plants 4x and tonight makes the 5th time, cutting off 1' or more of them just to keep them at a smaller size..and they keep wanting to explode :) I honestly haven't seen anything like it, with all the lights I have tried, these definitely veg the fastest...

The only thing I would love to see, is a daisy chain all white led, for viewing... because it makes it extremely hard with the "all blue" light to see how the plants actually look or to check for deficiencies...but other than that...amazing lights :)

Good to hear that you had a great experience with them too.

I definitely can say that so far Advanced LED is the BEST led that I have used to date... and actually best light source so far. Dependable, good quality parts, and built to last :)

Re: Icemud's LED Overkill - 3x Advanced LED XTE 300s - Blue Dream - University Hills

Well everyone!!!

Sorry I have been gone all week, I've been burned out from work this week due to a lot of catch up and new clients that I aquired at the trade show in vegas...

I'm so bummed that I wasn't able to make the cannabis cup this year, I would have loved to meet some of the 420 mag members that were there.... maybe next one :) I had limited funds and a unreliable car that just prevented me from going, plus getting home from vegas the night before didn't work the best for me.... bummed because I would have loved to meet some of the members I know were there :) I still look forward to meeting yall in the future sometime :) Such an amazing 420 mag family :)

So what does a single guy do on Valentines day..... well takes care of his ladies :) all six of them :) and no...I'm not a pimp by any means... I mean my flowering girls :) hahaha :)

So today marks day 7 from the flip, and so far, not a whole lot of stretching or any signs of flowers yet...

I think I may have accidentally delayed them, because last weekend when I did the flip, I gave them a foliar feeding of bloomit which I shouldent have because so far it has always caused problems, but I decided to anyhow.. and to make matters worse I didn't dillute it enough so it actually burned the leaves on both of my sativa dominant plants (blue dream and churchberry) as well as definitely pissed off the others... so as of now they have recovered, and the leaves look healthy... I need to just get rid of that bloomit... I should label it "dammit" instead because each time you spray it your like "dammit, why did I do that" haha :)

Anyhow, I think anyday I should see the flowers pop :) much slower than GLR using a 18/6 schedule for veg... I will be trying the GLR with the all blue EX veg lights in the near future, but don't want to do it with my mothers... I don't know if it will work due to the main reason GLR works is due to IR and far red light. with the lack of it, I'm not sure if it will work or not.

So for my EX veg tent...things are looking amazing... I took some photos and then trimmed about 1' or more off all the plants because they were getting way too tall, and I don't need them 4' tall in veg :) Then I sprayed them with just a mineral water I had brewing which was R/O water with azomite, calcium carbonate, lava rock, greensand, and humic acid... this is also the feeding that both my plants got today, just strait plain water with minerals added...

So here are the photos of the veg tent...

I have 2 x XML 350's. I like the footprint and they preform pretty darn good, but the XTE are better. I grow clones a lot that finish out about the same weight each time. This time I got an extra 4 ounces off two plants. That's a pretty big jump. The only thing I changed were my upgraded lights. This last run I got to use 2 x XTE 400's with the same exact environment and feeding schedule.
