Icemud's Breeding Projects And Motherchucking Pollination Extravaganza

Final Journal Entry for the Sour Grapes Seed Project: Summary

Hey everyone!!! Sorry for the delay in updates as of lately. It took forever for the plants to dry and to de-seed them all, and so I haven't done much updating as most of the last 3 weeks was waiting on those 2 things. (I will do a Bangi Haze update this week after doing some clones)

So the Sour Grapes seed project went extremely well and I was very impressed with Hazeman's Sour Grapes.
Hazeman's sour grapes is listed as:
Grape Stomper cut AKA Sour grapes X Sour Grapes. From additional research on Sour Grapes it says
Hazeman Seeds Sour Grapes is an homage to legendary breeder Jojorizo (Jojo) using Jojo's Sour Grapes F1 pheno #1 crossed with Hazeman's Sour Grapes male.

Jojo's Sour Grapes is a complex cross between breeder JojoRizo’s Purple Elephant and breeder Elite Seeds’ Chemdawg Sour Diesel, Grape Stomper has quite the pedigree.

I can honestly say this is one of the frostiest strains I have grown, and rivals my Gorilla Glue and GSC that I have run in the past. All of the female phenotypes had similar structure, however their height differed quite significantly. The strength of the terpenes did vary between phenotypes with some having hardly any terps, and some being very strong.

My Personal Breeding Journal/Notes:
Sour Grapes Seed Project:
Source: Hazeman at Infinity Genetics

Started with 8 seeds. 7 or 8 of the seeds cracked in R/O water within 24 hours of submerging them. The 8th seed I tried to use a knife to open slighly and it popped out of my hands and I lost it.
The 7 seeds were placed about 1/2" deep in fresh soil with some mycos powder and watered. Within 3-4 days all seeds emerged from the soil.

Mid flowering observations:
Today makes day 32 of flowering in my Sour Grapes seed project and things are looking spectacular so far. As of Friday (day 29)
The Males:
I removed all 3 male plants out of the garden, chopped all of the pollen sacks off, and placed them all in a open plastic bag to dry. Once dry I will collect the pollen and pollen sacks and put them in a ziplock for storage. Not sure how long it will last, but hey... lets find out :) LOL The 3 males dumped so much pollen there were piles of pollen sacks and pollen all over the grow tent floor where the males were. It literally went everywhere in this tent, so I will have to make sure to clean every surface very well before the next run to prevent any cross contamination.

Phenotype #7
The tallest female, the one that flowered late really has tiny bud formation, I mean very very small buds and wont be much of a producer most likely. I love the structure of the plant, and the trichomes are definitely medium heavy on this one. The terps are of a sweet artificial grape smell, and probably a 5 out of 10 on the strength scale. Overall I will have to wait and see how this one finishes. It definitely has quite a few seeds developing and very tall strong structure, just very tiny buds.

Mid flowering #7: Well I have to say this phenotype really surprised me and has definitely filled out from being the tallest and lankiest of the bunch. This pheno is excellent in terms of structure, but the bud formations are very small, and although the buds are stacking very well, they just don't have the girth that pheno 6 and pheno 4 have. Close but I would have to rank this pheno 3rd. In terms of trichomes, this pheno is also covered, but not as much as pheno 4 and 6. In terms of terpene strength and smell, this one is fairly light on the terpenes, and I would say places in 3rd place out of all 4 phenotypes. I would give it about a 5-6 out of 10 in strength of terpenes. The smell is very similar to all of them, with a artificial grape smell to it, but just not as pungently strong as the 2 best. This pheno could have some good potential to breed with some heavy indica dom strains to increase their height. I would rank this 3rd overall in terms of overall rating.

After Harvest #7: This phenotype, despite it being the tallest yielded quite small in comparison to the shorter varieties, in terms of bud/flower and even seeds. Upon breaking up the dried buds I noticed that this phentype had quite a different smell/terp profile than the others, and was leaning very far to the sour diesel parent, with a extremely lemonade smell mixed with a old school kush and suntan lotion smell, very true to the sour diesel parent. This would also make sense why the lanky tall structure. The terpenes themselves were not strong and probably a 5 or 6 in terms of potency out of 10. Definitely a good smell though, but no grape at all was detected in this pheno, only a lemon kushy smell of yesteryear. Definitely not the select phenotype for really any traits, as it yielded low, flowered late, and hardly had any trichomes or terpenes. Would maybe be good to breed with a OG kush or like strain to see if it would pull out some of the sour diesel smell/terps.

Phenotype #4:
This phenotype is the 2nd tallest female, and both this pheno, and #7 are about 1' taller than the other 2 females. Phenotype #4 so far is an amazing pheno, in both bud size/growth, trichome formation, plant/bud structure and overall is definitely a keeper phenotype thus far. The terpenes on this one are about a 7 or 8 out of 10 in strength and have a very grape juice/grape cotton candy smell, very sweet, appealing and makes your sweet tooth start salivating. I am definitely happy about this phenotype and so far this is a rival for best phenotype.

Mid late flowering #4: IF I had to choose only 1 of these phenotypes for breeding, I believe that #4 would make the perfect plant to use. It has a ton of main branches with buds, the buds are very proportional, tight, full, close nodes and very very frosty. This pheno is probably the most frosty in terms of trichomes and has the best bud structure of them all. The terpenes on this one are very strong, but not as strong as pheno #6 which is a tiny bit stronger at this point, however they are so close, with all of the other traits pheno #6 brings, this would be the choice number 1 pheno. The terp strength is about a 7-8 out of 10 and this one smells also like a sweet artifical grape smell, but slighlty less grape and slightly more of a skunkyness to the grape. Still very grape though.

Pheno #4 after harvest: This phenotype is a close tie for best terpenes both for strength of terps and also grape smell. This phenotype has pretty potent terpenes and I would say they rate about a 7-8 out of 10 in terms of strength. This pheno has a very strong artificial grape smell, almost like grape pixy sticks or a grape soda drink smell, very sweet and grape, but with a slight skunkyness underneight it. This pheno smells just like one of the parents of this strain which is purple elephant which is an amazingly grape flavored strain. Its a tossup between pheno 4 and pheno #6 being the best, but I do think this pheno (#4) has a slight edge in terms of a better overall terp smell, and also the plant was taller and had a better structure. I think that pheno 6 though may have slightly had a larger yield but since I didn't weight them, that is debatable. I think overall if I selected one of the phenos to breed with, it would be this one.

Phenotype #1:
Phenotype 1 is one of the 2 shorter females and both shorter females have just about the same growth traits, same structure and same bud size. Trichomes are covering the buds and sugar leaves and definitely this plant has all the desirable traits, except for the terpene strength right now is not very strong. The terpenes I would say are about a 5 of 10 in terms of strength, but they do have a sweet artificial candy grape smell to them, similar to the others, just not as strong, and its harder to get a smell when you do a bud rub or leaf brush with your fingers when compared to the others. Nothing wrong with this phenotype and but I would probably select either #4 or #6.

Mid flowering #1: Mid late flowering this pheno freaked out and a bunch of the smaller sugar leaves burned from something. Not sure if it was too strong of a feeding, or just straight purified R/O water that caused the leaves to brown and die, but the problem seemed to be tied to a single feeding. None of the other phenos reacted this way and all had the same feeding so this pheno seems to be weaker or at least is more susceptable to swings in nutrients. The terps on this one are still not very strong, and hardly detectable at all even when vigorously rubbing a bud and smelling your fingers. in terms of terp strength I think this one would be a 4 out of 10 at this late in flowering. The terps smell like a very very light artificial grape smell but very weak. There are a lot of trichomes and bud structure is looser than Pheno 4 and 6, but still fairly good structure overall. This is a good pheno, but not the best and #4 and #6 still outshine it.

After harvest report: Overall this pheno, despite its issues with nutrients and leaves, had a fairly decent yeild in terms of buds. The buds were fairly airy but produced quite a bit of seeds, nothing extremly high but I would say average. The smells terps are very light and not pungent at all. I would say maybe a 3 or 4 out of 10 in terms of strength. The smell is like a grape sucker/candy mixed with a slighter fall spice/potporri smell. Defintely a good smell, but not very strong. Trichome production is good but would have been much better without the leaf issues.

Phenotype #6:
This phenotype is short, just like phenotype #1 and has exact same growth traits. Both are tigher, bushier and shorter but loved to be topped and created very nice uniform buds and a solid trunk/structure which doesn't need much support. Great structure on these 2 and although much shorter than Pheno 4, the bud size seems to be about the same. Terp strength on this one rivals pheno 4 and I would give them a 7 or 8 out of 10 in strength. The terps on this one also are very grape smelling but almost smell a little cherry as well, and with a cheese type smell, like a grape/cherry cheesecake smell. Very delicious smelling but not as sweet and artificial grape as Pheno 4. Both pheno 4 and pheno 6 have the same amount of frost and both right now are rivals for best phenotype.
Well other than that, I have been feeding them about once every 4 days and been doing a mix of organic and synthetic nutrients, and about every 3rd feeding is either just water or a water with microbes (tea).

MID-Late flowering #6: This phenotype is extremely hardy, has very little discoloration or issues with leaves and has excellent bud structure. They are fairly tight and very frosty and the nodes are fairly close togther as well. In terms of structure, pheno #6 is one of the shorter plants, but the yield seems about the same between all the phenos. The terpenes on this pheno are very strong and I would rate them as a 8 out of 10 in terms of strength. The smell from the terpenes is that of a very sweet artificial grape almost like a grape candy with a little bit of cherry in it as well. Very very good smell. So far this is definitely a good future pheno to breed with. Not the tallest but a excellent shorter pheno with all other traits desirable for potentially breeding with a lanky OG or lanky sativa.

After Harvest: Phenotype 6 yielded fairly good for a smaller plant. The terpene strength on it is about a 6-7 out of 10 for strength. Its fairly potent smelling but really have to smell your fingers after breaking up a bud to get a good odor. The terp profile is that of sour tart grapes/cherries mixed suntan lotion with a hint of pink bubblegum and potpourri. Definitely smells good and would be an excellent strain to breed for flavor. Many of the seeds are smaller and many aren't finished which could have been due to the nutrient issues in mid late flowering. Overall I would say this isn't the best pheno, but probably comes in 2nd place as a select pheno. Being that it was shorter than the others, the other phenos win out the structure battle.

And to the harvest photos:
Overall I was pretty happy with the overall yield of seeds that I got from this run. In the photos you will see there are quite a bit of immature (white) seeds as well, but I also got quite a few mature tiger striped seeds too :) Definitely gives me some fun gear to play with in the future :)

Summary:
Overall Sour Grapes was definitely a strain for those who favor terpenes with exotic fruity flavors. The majority of the phenos had overwhelming "artificial grape" terpenes which resembled candy grape smells, similar to pixie sticks or grape slurpies. The plants were fairly easy to grow, and a few of the pheno's seemed to be more tolerant to soil extremes and ph swings than others, but none of them plants really were difficult to grow either. The yield when compared to other strains was similar, and I would say its somewhere in the mid to high range in terms of average yield. I highly recommend these beans to anyone who likes very resinous covered grape buds :)

Thank you everyone for following along, and stay tuned to this journal as I continue with my Bangi Haze F9 seed project as well as soon announce the next upcomming beans to pop.

Awesome job, Brother! :high-five:

I think you might have missed a couple seeds, though! Are you sure you got them all?

Hahahah! I actually probably did! LOL I saved most of the trim.. Maybe one of these days I will take it to some forest or field and just let the wind decide where it all lands, and maybe some hiker will find something amazing :) lol

Yea I definitely have a ton of seeds from here until I am 420 years old :)

Sounds like a success, now to see what the Bangi does for you.

Really excited about the Bangi! Its been a rather slow vegging plant so I may give them a couple more weeks to grow. I have to clone all of my "mothers" anyhow so I'm sure it will be about 3 weeks before they get ready to flower. The leaves on the Bangi are beautiful though, very sativa dom looking but just gorgeous symmetry.

I will try to get a Bangi update in the next day or 2 as I have to clean out the other tent from all the loads of pollen that dropped and clone all of the other plants. Super excited to see how the Bangi turns out :)

Also debating what to pop next, but really am leaning towards the Apollo 13 F4, Chocolate Thai, CSI humboldt's Pine Tar Kush, or the Fruity Pebbles OG. Tough choices ahead :)

Another fine haul of future genetic winners bud! I still vote FPOG lol!

Thank you Green Yeti!!! Yea I was really happy with how the sour grapes turned out... I wish I would have been able to smoke some of it but was just too seedy to pick all the little seed parts out of the flower... It smelled absolutely amazing and I really think that the crosses as well as the IBL will be fantastic surprises in the future to toy with :)

**********``````````UPDATE TIME``````````**********

Hey everyone!!! Thank you all for stayed along for the sour grapes project and I appreciate the cheering me on to the finish line with that project. I was really impressed with Sour Grapes and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking some grape strains in their life!!!'

So now.. Next up in my seed projects!!!!! BANGI HAZE F9's!!!!!!!

So for all those that have been following along and all those that just joined, welcome!!!!! I will be doing updates about 1x per 1-2 weeks throughout the project so stay tuned!
Bangi Haze F9 = Congo x Nepal

Here is a little about Bangi Haze F9's (from Seedfinder(dot)eu)

Bangi Haze F9 is a sativa variety from Dragons Flame and can be cultivated indoors (where the plants will need a flowering time of ±67 days) and outdoors. Dragons Flames Bangi Haze F9 is/was never available as feminized seeds.

Bangi Haze is one the fastest sativa hybrid from our collection. Its name comes from the Nepalese incense aroma that will seduce you immediately and its energetic high from the Congolese sativa. It is a compact sativa that produces dense flowers full of generous trichomes. Bangi Haze was bred and improved for indoor growing. Good adaptation to outdoor cold climates.

STRUCTURE: Compact and columnar sativa, easy to work with it.
BOUQUET: A seductive honey and liquor aroma.
POTENCY: Strong and energetic sativa effect that raises you and maintains you active.
FLOWERING: 9-10 weeks. End September/ Early October.
PRODUCTION / M2: Middle-high
GROW TYPE: Indoor/outdoor. All climates.

So Back on April 17th, I popped 8 of the Bangi Haze seeds into soil and 7 of 8 emerged from the soil. They have been vegging under 300w of COB LED grow lights in 2-3 gallon plastic pots since then. I have been feeding them mainly synthetic nutrients (1 part Fox Farm Grow big, Advanced Nutrients Cal/Mag 5:1) but occasionally they get a organic nutrient feeding (earth juice line). In all feedings I generally will include some Mammoth P microbes, Bio-Cozyme (enzymes) and Bushdoctor (microbial innoculant). Other than that I have been keeping the feedings pretty simple as the goal is breeding and not the most perfectly grown flowers for consumption.

I have topped the girls just 1x and so far they have been a relatively slow vegging plant, so if you ever expect to grow Bangi Haze, expect it to veg slower like an indica dom than a traditional sativa. The leave are beautiful on the Bangi haze and for a F9, all phenotypes except for 1 of 7 look identical in height, leaf formation and growth/branching. 1 of the 7 phenotypes has quite a bit different looking of a leaf, where it has a different shape to it, and much thicker leaf blades than the others.

The Bangi Haze are very aromatic already in veg, and a quick stem rub or moving of the leaves the the plants let out their funky aroma. On a stem rub, the terpenes smell as a very pungent, baby poo/vomit/lemon so very repulsive to say the least. I am excited to see how these turn out and if they get a more fruity smell to the buds, or remain grotesque.

I cleaned out the grow tent that the previous project was in, making sure to wipe down everything with a bleach/water solution. I do not want any cross pollenation happening with the previous project so even after I wiped down every surface I gave the tent a good few days to dry out after washing it to hopefully allow any pollen to settle, and then wiped it down again.

I will be flipping the girls to flowering very soon, but I have to wait for the rest of the other strains/mothers to have a clone rooted before I flip the tent, just in case one of the strains doesn't root, I don't want to have to take clones when the plant is already shifting to flowering. I don't mind waiting 2 weeks for them all to be rooted.

The plan for this project is to do an open pollenation, using whatever males and females I get out of this bunch, to spread throughout the grow space allowing for a good variety of genetics to choose from in the future.

Here are the phenos and the full tent grow: (leaves were a little droopy because they were in need of a watering/feeding at the time I took the photos

Update #2..........

So for my next upcomming seed project it was a very hard decision and it was between 3 different strains to run next:
Chocolate Thai
Apollo 13 F4
Fruity Pebbles OG

Trust me I had about 4 more that were also being considered to run next, however I had to really think about which one I absolutely wanted to run, and it was between these 3.

I was on the phone with one of my homegirls from back in Chicago last night, and told her I was having trouble picking... she asked if she could pick and although I was hesitant to say yes, I asked her which one she would choose. She said... "well wasn't it just the anniversary of the Apollo missions" and I said yea, It was the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, and she said... "then you should do Apollo 13 because of the anniversary". I liked her way of thinking, and was really leaning to Apollo 13 anyways, being that it is extremely rare to find, and plus being that it is about 81% Jack Herer genetics, I really thought it would make for some excellent crosses, as well as having such a rare batch of seeds in my possession, it was a must to pop them next....

So...With that being said... 8 seeds were placed into a double shotglass full of R/O water and set up on my gas range stove top which stays warm because of the pilot lights. Today I peeked at the seeds, and what looks to be 3 or 4 of them have already cracked, which is awesome!!! They will be getting placed into soil tonight :)

For anyone that is curious, Apollo 13 F4 is a cross of the strains (Genus x P75)
Genus = Jack Herer x Haze
P75 = Princess x P.50
Princess = Jack Herer x Mystery Male
P.50 = Princess x Shiva Skunk

Therefore taking all of that into account, Apollo 13 is mostly Jack Herer genetics which overall it stems from some haze and skunk.

Anyhow, the Apollo 13 is a classic strain, very hard to find in today's market and a uplifiting sativa with a fruity flavor. I'm extremely excited to have this classic in my garden!! Stay tuned for pics as they pop out of the soil and start showing their beauty!

Love seeing the old strains being run, knock it outta the park!

Yea, one can only take so many different varieties of cookies or og kush...lol (I like both but still...lol) I really enjoy having those strains in my garden that you don't see everywhere and also preserving those genetics for the future. One of these days I will do a grow so I can actually sample some of these strains.. LOL :)

Super excited about the Apollo 13!!

Apollo or chocolate Thai would be my choices

It was a really tough choice... I actually pulled out my large bag of seeds and layed them all out... I picked about 9 that had the most potential, and slowly narrowed them down... So many great genetics and so little room!

I still really want to run that Fruity Pebbles OG, the CSI Humboldt Pine Tar Kush, the DJ Short Blueberry, 88G13/HP, Chocolate Thai, Lanikea, Astro Kush, Gods Gift and Azure Haze... LOL so many choices!!! I still haven't gotten to any of my creations yet either.. however I do have a buddy running some outdoor and they are looking great!

Hey fellow pollen chuckers and chuckettes!

Welcome to Icemud's grow journals!!! (insert studio audience applause and cheering)

This grow journal is dedicated to my breeding projects and pollen chucking projects with a goal of creating enough seeds to last me a lifetime, and then some. :) I welcome everyone to join in the fun, ask questions, make comments, bring jokes, refreshments, smoke freely and feel at home!

My rules: keep it positive and friendly! NO politics!

The strains:
In this journal I will be using seeds (regular) to do open pollination projects to both create and preserve the lineages of the original strain seeds, but also will be crossing the seeds with 9 selected mother plants that I have collected over the years. Some of the mothers I collected for potency, some for rarity, some for terpene profiles, and some because they are just amazing plants.

For each pollen chucking project I do, I will start with approximately 8 seeds (regular) sourced from different breeders, and will be using clones of my mother plants.

Mother Plants (clone only strains) I will be using in each project:
  • Granddaddy Purple: Purple Urkle x Big Bud
  • Skywalker OG supposedly its (Blueberry x Mazar) x OG kush
  • Private Reserve OG: supposedly a stabilized IBL of OG Kush pheno from Orgnkid...
  • Ogiesel: (chemdawg x Mass super skunk) x SFV OG
  • Black Cherry Soda (have had this plant since 2013) According to the creator, SunyCheba, this strain is created with a conglomerate of Clone only Blackberry, Afghan Kush, NL #5, G13, Apollo 13, Cinderalla 99
  • Harlequin (high CBD, amazing terps, have had this plant for over 5 years)
  • Trainwreck (the clone only west coast real deal trainwreck, with minty, pine lemon flavors and hemp like structure) Mexican (Sativa), Thai (Sativa), Afghani (Indica)
  • Mendo Grape Kush: Mendo Purps x O.G. Kush x Grapefruit
  • Gorilla Glue: Sour Dubb x Chem Sis x Chocolate Diesel
1st project up for flowering is using Hazeman's Sour Grapes strain. I popped 8 seeds, 7 went into soil, and 1 seed I dropped in my kitchen and lost it... Near flowering.

2nd project: Bangi Haze F9's. Just put these cracked seeds into soil as of yesterday, a long way to go on these, but will be a very interesting projecting bringing in some F9's with landrace parents :)

Grow Area Description and equipment
The Grow tents are a Hydrohut silver edition 2x4' tent. Actual measurements are larger and each tent measures approx 2.5'x5'x7'. Each tent is equipped with a large carbon filter (Can-filter or similar), 6" fan on a manual variable speed controller. Intake air is sucked into the tent by the negative pressure and let in the lower portion of the tent on each side. Also the flowering tent is equipped with a circulation fan to provide a constant light airflow on the plants and foliage.

The lights I use are LED and a combination of Budmaster LED and Advanced LED lights. Depending on what tent, and what stage of growth I am in, I will change up the lights to either involve different intensities, more penetration, different spectrums etc... This is NOT a sponsored journal and I was blessed by both companies in the past to do test runs on their products. For information on these lights, search for my previous journals.

Is it aircooled?
The lights are cooled by individual fans to disperse the heat given off by the lights. A pin style heat sink is used on each module. The case has plenty of holes and openings for ventilation.

The tent is cooled by a 6" hydrofarm fan hooked to a large carbon scrubber mounted at the top of my grow tent.

Soil or Hydro?
Soil.... recycled and reused soil. Soil is approximately 2-3 years old, and it is re-amended each cycle after being dumped into a large bin. All of my leaves are composted back into the soil.

If soil... what is in your mix?
The basic ingredients/additives are below

The Base Soil Mix:
ProMix HP
Fox Farm Ocean Forest
Worm Castings

The Amendments:
Basalt
Calcium Carbonate Powder 97%
Soft Rock Phosphate (Collidal Clay with high phosphorus and CEC value)
Gypsum (Calcium Sulfate)

If soil... What size pot?
For this grow I will be keeping the plants in 3 gallon round pots for the entire grow, which means I will have to water frequently and heavily bottle feed.

Temp of Room/cab?
usually my ambient temps stay between 75F-85F (during the current summer months the upper portion of the tent can reach 93F while the canopy stays roughly 85F.

RH of Room/cab?
my RH typically stays right around 50% but sometimes (rarely) the winds come off the desert and dry the RH down to 10% or less. Usually in the winter months of October, November, December and January we see a lot of offshore breezes and low humidity.

PH of media or res?
I don't check PH of the soil, and usually don't check the feedings either, but sometimes I will verify its around 6-6.5.

Any Pests ?
No pests at all, generally I do preventive measures with new soil and new plants. I use mosquito dunks with new soil on the first couple waterings, especially with fox farm soils to make sure their are no fungus gnats. I usually will spray the plants in early and mid veg with neem, SNS products and other organic and safe pest control products and pesticides as a preventative, never in flowering. In rare ocassions I will use spinosad as a systemic and also foliar pesticide, and although it is not approved for commercial cannabis use in some states, its one of the safest pest products on the market, organic and one of the most commonly used pesticides in commercial food agriculture. I also will use yellow and blue pest sticky cards if needed for IPM.

How often are you watering?
This depends on the portion of the cycle I am in, but typically I water about 1x per week in early veg, in late veg about 1x every 3-4 days, In early flowering about 1x every 3-4 days, late flowering about 1x per 5-6 days.

Type and strength of ferts used?
Lately I have been rotating between synthetic and organic bottled nutrients. I don't really stick to a particular feeding schedule and really just watch the plants and feed them as needed. I usually feed every other watering, and use plain water or compost teas inbetween feedings.

A little brief history of my grow experience.

Well I started off my very 1st grow here at 420 Magazine about 8 years ago, and this place has become my grow home (grome?) ever since. When I first started growing I learned most of what I know from this site, and absolutely nailed my first grow. I started off growing just a couple strains at a time, following a strict nutrient regiment, using a scrog and 1000w of HID lighting in the very same tents I am using now. (good tent brand).

Since then I have been nonstop with growing and absolutely love it. I became a LED grow light tester for a while on this site, trying out new technologies, answering questions for other growers, and trying my best to give reputable and honest answers and information and sorting out all the BS and lies from bad companies. I was extremely blessed to test out probably over 13 different LED light types and about 5 different brands. I had also hosted a YouTub3 channel for quite some time where I would do unboxing, testing and informational videos about all of my light tests which I really enjoyed for some time, until the YouTub3 got sort of anti cannabis and started to delete growers channels, at which I removed most of my vids and stopped making videos. (all of my light test videos are still there).

I've always been a soil grower, and although I've tried different techniques, nutrients, soil blends, I tend to stick with what is cheap, simple and effective and works for me. I experimented with High Brix growing in the early days when it first came to the forums here and managed to get a few plants up in the mid 25+ range of brix which is fantastic. I've used completely organic nutrients bottled and organic soil amendments and now I am even doing hybrid organic/synthetic regiments to try to get the best of both worlds...

In terms of strains...geeze, I couldn't even estimate how many different strains I have run over the years, but I would estimate maybe 30 or 40 different strains in total. I have kept some of my favorites as mothers, and have had some of them now for 6 years and they still are some of my favorites, which all of you will get to see.

I've smoke cannabis since I was an early teen, probably 12 or 13 years old and still enjoy it every weekend although I have cut down quite a bit lately due to my job requiring a lot of brain power and critical thought. I love the industry, I love the plant, I love the people and I am lucky enough to even work in the legal industry, although my job is not all that fun. I currently am a compliance manager for 2 type 7 volatile extraction facilities and 2 type 11 distribution facilities and pretty much my job is understanding about 500 pages of regulations, laws, conducting audits, ensuring compliance, safety and legal needs are met and followed, writing operation manuals, applying for licenses, communicating with state regulators, writing laws and public comments and the list goes on and on... So if any of you have questions about the California legal market, I can absolutely answer them with experience, but I don't actually do extractions so questions in that area I can't really help with. I love my job, I love working in the industry and as much as the changing industry frustrates me sometimes, I wouldn't trade the opportunity for the world... well maybe for a winning lottery ticket.. but ya know what I mean :)

Anyhow, so hear we are, ready to get started on Icemud's Mother Chucking party and I welcome everyone to follow along, comment, participate, ask questions, learn, spread knowledge or even just tell jokes...LOL Lets make this pollen chucking extravaganza fun !!!!

Well on to the show!!!!

Hi ... I'm glad I ran into this thread!

I am just finishing up my very first grow.

In the beginning I started with one tent and autoflowers. Well I thought they were autoflowers :)

It turns out they were photoperiods ... and now I have two tents and my interest in photoperiods is quickly accelerating!

I will finish reading your journal tomorrow ...

Super excited about the Apollo 13!!
I have avoided running any Cookies or OG strains because they seem so in your face everywhere you go. Having said that, I have decided recently that my propensity to buck "the in thing" isn't always a good thing and will be at least growing a few of them out to compare to other stuff.

Excited to see you work with that Apollo 13. I love Jack Herer (just started two from Seedsman) and am very curious to see what you do with it!:high-five:
