Re: Icemud LED Grow Featuring The All New Budmaster COB Technology - White Full Spect
Looking Awesome Icemud. Those COB lights are bringing it home big time! In your opinion, did the COB light experience a bigger stretch? I was also wondering what your best flower light is? COB vs GOD
...
Those girls are stacking on the weight!
Hey Dr. Cannabi!
Well great questions and I appreciate the compliments
The COB's definitely are impressive lights to say the least. As far as stretch, I didnt take any measurements before flowering or after so my judgement would be based only on my visual observation. As far as stretch, I think between the GOD's and the COBs, the GOD's produced more stretch based on comparing photos from day 60 on both grows, where the total canopy of the grow under the GOD's was about 8"-1' taller than the current grow with the COB's. I used the reference point on the photos the middle vent/hose holes in the tent and the average canopy on the GOD grow was above the top of the venthole, where as the COB grow was at the bottom of the vent hole or lower so overall a difference of 8" to 1' or more in stretch with the GOD panels.
Now also to be fair, I went back and examined the photos of day 1 of flowering (day of the flip) to see the average canopy height in reference to the vent/hose holes and between the COB grow, and the GOD grow, the height was virtually identical. Therefore, even though the actual training of the plants, environment, nutrient regiments and frequency may have slightly changed between each grow, the stretch was definitely much greater with the GOD panels than with the COBs.
To answer the 2nd question is a little tougher, mainly because this run with the COBs will be the 1st full run, veg to finish with the COBs so I have yet to get the dry weight, or taste and sample the final product yet. Its honestly really hard at this time to give a good comparison since I still have yet to try the COB buds with a full COB grow. On my 1st run with the COBs, I only used them from day 30 to finish so it wasn't a fair assessment of the COB grown plants because half of the flower cycle was done under my XTE panels. Now with that being said, the GOD grow did produce my Ogiesel to be better tasting and more fragrant than I have had it under any of the grow lights I have used in the past including other brands. Now was that due only to the lights...its hard to say. Really out of all the LED panels I have used, the budmasters are very good when looking at all aspects, and I also really liked the Advanced XTE panels. In terms of build, reliability, overall final yield, harvest and other factors they all produced favorable results and I don't have any negative issues or complaints.
I do plan on running more comparison and research type test grows in the future, but right now until I reduce my plant counts and how many strains I have on hand I won't be able to do that. I would say either GOD's or COBs as well as the XTE's are great panels, and I would recommend any of them to someone that was on them market looking for lights. Now with that being said, depending on the grow style and budget of the person asking, It most likely may steer the suggestion between one of the three. For instance if someone was growing in a sea of green or scrog, where vertical penetration need was minimal, then I most likely would recommend the COBs, because of the more even footprint and spread of the light. If someone were growing 4 or 5 foot bushes, then I probably would recommend the XTE or GOD because of the dual lenses which create more "throw" on the beams of light, therefore offering better penetration. Its really hard though to say one is better than the other because I have never run a controlled side by side, and also with the wattages being different on all 3 panels, even if a controlled study was done, it would be still hosting an unfair advantage to the more powerful light.
Quite honestly I think the combo of GOD/COB lights would be ideal, offering the best of both custom spectrums for plant needs and terpene production, penetration as well as even widespread light, full spectrum. And I do like how the budmasters offer the ability to swap components, as my next grow will feature hybrid lights with 1/2 cob, 1/2 god
I think that will be that middle bowl of pourage
just right :0
