Hyena's Never-Ending Adventures In Growing

Highya HM,

Grow#3 is making a lot of buds. They are fat! Looking so nice!

The next Grow - taking up more water - Does that mean there's more biomass? Might yield more bud?

You could take clones and get caught up that way. Always something, eh? Cheers

Happy Friday! Here's a mini

HYENA'S GROW HOUSE update!

Actually, it's not about the GH this time, I won't be there again until Monday but I have had a sad experience with ten Original Skunk #1 seeds showing tails, then 8 of them stopping dead and developing no further...I can only surmise the rooter plugs were too wet. Even though I've done this many times I still fuched it up.

Nevertheless, I remembered I have hundreds of seeds from my own crosses so why pay for more? Sure enough, I dropped 18 beans and 18 sprouted! They are about 2 years old and yet BOOM. So, I placed all of them in the now-vacant rooters yesterday. I am waiting to see if they all pop as expected or if there's some other problem which will cause all of them to suddenly stop growing too. Isn't it fun? Life and death games!

Hope your final pre-Christmas weekend is a great one. If you are still last-minute shopping shame on you but hey, you're a stoner so you are already used to being late for everything.

Not much else to do today...guess I'll exercise...

Peace, Hyena

Sorry to hear about the bum luck with the seeds, but very interested in seeing how your crosses turn out for you!

An early Merry Christmas to you and the Hyena clan! Stay lit brother. :passitleft:

Merry Christmas Hyena! I woke up today excited to place all the presents under my tree for our little one. Then, naturally, I got baked and started thinking about weed, lol. I can barely express how excited I am to see you push a run of YOUR strains through the GH. The hyenas I grew were massive, exotic smelling, and the smoke was fire. This is gonna be a super way to start the new year, and you already know exactly how to tame those ladies to your liking! Merry Christmas and Safe Travels!

Great updates as ever, Hy. Me and @Sugarleaf glad mrs Merica now on the same page. :high-five: You keep it on the downlow for all the right reasons, then next minute you have a secret alternate identity and you’re wearing your undies on the outside. Always a worry.
Hee haw happy returns from Aotearoa mate. I hope today is at least as good as every other day on the calendar (I think our carrier albatross is fishing. She’ll get here.)
:peace:

Merry Christmas!!

Here's a small Holiday HYENA'S GROW HOUSE update!

Monday I did my weekly visit thing and it was interesting...

It's almost like the room exploded! Everyone is in full bloomin' beauty right now!

Each section, each plant, literally has its own unique look, smell, and structure.

I could have stood in there and taken pictures of every single bud they are all so nice. But I had to do water and pull fan leaves and stuff. So here's just 2 examples of the chunkers I am looking at:

Since I'm planning on letting this grow go two more weeks no matter what, I guess examining trichomes isn't as necessary but I got a really nifty hand-held electronic microscope that you plug into your computer and do live view with, so next visit I plan to really see where they are at but I'm going for the beast here. I could harvest now and be happy but I believe in two more weeks this will exceed all believability. Cool!!

But refilling the reservoirs I found a bad surprise...

The two rather expensive heaters I installed burned up. Obviously, continuous use is out. Still, I feel I need to augment heat in the reservoirs, sooooo, I plan to first contact Hyger and ask them to give me more info on the operational parameters because it didn't say you couldn't run them so many hours a day or whatever. I just set it to 70 and figured since the element I got was rated for 40-80 gallon aquariums we were good for a 50-gallon drum but I guess not! Second plan is to replace them and just add a timer so they only run for an hour maybe 6-8 times a day. Even if it only raises the average temps a bit it will be closer to the 70 I would like to maintain. I'll figure it out.

Meanwhile, there is Tent #2 which is growing at an amazing pace...

This room will still go another week or maybe even more before I flip, I really want to test the limits of this setup now that I know how to work it reasonably well.

And MEANWHILE, back in the grow lab, my second effort at starting 12 seedlings isn't much better than the first so it must be a chemistry issue, maybe these rooters are bad somehow they are turning a funky color and nobody is growing very well in them. I'm going to start fresh with new seeds and new rooters and new water see what happens.

Now here's my two cent's worth and maybe three. It's been a good year for growing weed, for our family and especially for our country. If you found someone in America right now that couldn't honestly say they are better off than they were a few years ago they either got some disease or they aren't trying. The first group I pray for; the second I don't feel sorry for in the least. There is a time to realize when things are good and cease the micro-bitching, and that time IMHO is now. I hear a lot of fake news folks say things like "Why are we so divided?" Well, the simple truth is, because one side can't grow up, shut up, and quit taking the approach to everything that if they can't have exactly their way, they will just crash the plane and make sure nobody can be happy. The Obama years is where it became cool to call someone filthy names like racist for example, as a replacement for discussing anything with anyone who disagrees with you on anything. Since President Trump came in, it has become frankly a sort of hysteria/mental illness. Sadly, the internet (especially Twitter) has become the scientific proof of the old saying, "Give a man a mask, and you will see his true face." What needs to be realized is everything and everyone is not automatically equal, nor should it be. IT'S STILL BASED MOSTLY ON WHAT YOU DO MORE THAN ANYTHING ABOUT YOUR LOOKS OR RACE OR RELIGION OR WHETHER YOU THINK YOU ARE ONE SEX OR THE OTHER. Asking "Why are we so divided?" is to pretend we don't know, and I hate when adults pretend they don't know things that everybody knows. Only the left is asking this question because the rest of us know full well. Asking "Why are we so divided?' is like getting punched in the face, then asked, "Why are we BOTH so angry?" It's fake bullshit and it's hurting our country for one side to have moved so far away from respectful engagement with other AMERICANS. Example: Just because I think we should have some choice about who comes into our country and not just let anyone stream in doesn't mean I am opposed to immigrants or immigration or foreigners or children or puppies...to label me as such, simply because you want open borders but you can't make any logical argument for it, is horseshit. But look around...that's how the left plays it now. From the top down. If I disagree with you and you're black and I'm not black that doesn't mean I'm racist. It might just mean I know what I'm talking about and you're an uninformed asshole. If you can teach me something I will listen to you no matter what "race" you are (we're all the human race by the way, skin color isn't actually "racial" but simply a recent cosmetic diversity based on the last 250,000 years of where people lived) I can give a thousand examples but the bottom line is I have earned my place in America, and I live by a lot of Christian principles, I love everybody, or not, based on what they do and nothing else, and I'm a good American who understands what I'm a tiny participant in...and I know it's being ruined for a lot of people by people who put their political affiliation ahead of decency to their fellow man. And if the Democrats ran a green, three-headed kangaroo that could articulate a batter plan for America, I assure you I would vote for the Democrat kangaroo for President without hesitation. If only everyone was as fair as me. :ganjamon:#THATWOULDBEAPERFECTWORLDHYENA!

I love you all, whomever might read these words and especially all those who come here regularly. Be well.

Peace, Hyena

Blooming gorgeous blooms. As ever. :p
Rotten luck on the sprouts
And heaters. You’ll sort it. We need a serious look at minimising fire hazards in our grow spaces.
You make a lot of sense otherwise too mate. Love the getting punched and asking why we’re both so angry analogy.
And.. “santa baby” ..Eartha Kitt in concert. The original catwoman prowling the stage in 7”stilettos. One of those timeless moments. Crossing age, colour, gender and species boundaries with every red-blooded anyone fair biting their concert programs in half!
Write on..

Hey Hyena!

Grow rooms are looking great bud. Hope you and the family are enjoying your holidays. A late Merry Christmas and early Happy New Year to the whole Hyena clan!

Only one solution presents itself. Guess who's about to learn to clone?

Peace, Hyena

Ruh roh!

That's weird with the rapid rooters. I guess you could always dunk them in some hydrogen peroxide? Give em a couple squeezes, and maybe kill off anything that could have grown?

Sprout/seed/seedling issues SUCK!

Don't fret! It's easy. Not only that, you can do extras in case things go wrong. I've seen some with 100% results. I've had 70% when growing inside. And that was only the first two grows. I'm sure you can do this! You have gotten this far, and that's a lot harder than cloning!! Cheers

Happy Sunday!

Here's a little HYENA'S GROW HOUSE update!

How time flies when you're learning something new! Okay, cloning weed doesn't seem to be rocket surgery...after reading everything I need to about it, well, apparently it's so simple a stoner could do it. Perfect for me. :ganjamon:

So tomorrow I will run up to the ol' GH and we will set up a cloning department.

If this works out I will have plantable clones by the time I harvest Tent #1 on January 8th. How exciting!

That, of course, is the best-case scenario. I know pretty much only what I have read, and have zero experience.
Got to learn it. The idea of having this method available when needed is probably going to make my planning more flexible. This time around it will get me back on schedule faster than starting new seeds (again). I am also intrigued by the prospect of learning how clones develop compared to plants from seeds, yield comparisons, everything.

I still plan to start most of my grows from seeds as I see it right now, since exploring new genetics are my preference at this point. But who knows, maybe having the same genetic line for grow after grow and finding a sweet spot of quality (and especially yield!) will be more beneficial since new strains, well, you never know what quality or yield you'll really get until you grow them out!

So tomorrow will be another one of those learning curve days, which I truly enjoy. I have to learn something somewhat complex, then engineer a custom system that can be left unattended for the first week-plus, with money on the line. I feel the pressure and at the same time the creative freedom is like a drug, I actually get high in a way from the intensive concentration and imagination required for projects like this as anyone who has read my adventures knows. If it works out I will have a cloning setup that will be self-sufficient and when I return, 15 rooted clones ready to find new homes. From what I've read it should be eazy peazy. But from life experience I give it a 50% chance of succeeding the first try cuz as Pappy used to say, "Ya never truly know whatcha don't know til ya fuch it up a couple times." When I think of all the things over my lifetime that looked easier than they turned out to be...well, it was pretty much everything. :hmmmm:

Nevertheless, hopefully I will have the new title "CLONEMASTER" by Tuesday!

Meanwhile, as this decade winds to a close, the journey is still just beginning on this road we call

One last post Tuesday with a full report!

Peace, Hyena
