Awesome, I'm about to get some 25 year old seeds tomorrow hopefully, this is very encouraging. There are a few others doing it too. I don't really think today's weed is really stronger then these strains were, I can't wait to find out.

Hey hyena! Been following along since project 21 was posted and been enjoying the journey ever since! Learned lots, can't wait to see what this round has in store!
You should check out ferala9x's journal, he had some old seeds from his dad he was trying to germinate and posted about a method he found on Instagram from one of the guys at brothers grimm who was starting old seeds.. I will see if I can find it for you... Page 259 post 3883... Basically a seed bubbler

I seen a thread on here awhile ago of a guy who had a bunch of seeds from the 70s. If I remember correctly his one way to help them germinate was to put some sand paper in a small canister (film case) inside with grit out and put the seed in and cover and give her a shake. This would scrap the outside of the seed making it easier to germinate.

PROJECT 27 UPDATE
Happy Saturday!
Usually it's happier than this one, the sad news is the Jurassic Seed didn't make it.
My research kept finding incidents of emergence of a tiny taproot tip in old seeds, but then lack of sufficient vigor to actually root and push up from the ground. Must have been the case with this one...the first little taproot only got 1/8 of an inch long before stopping. Oh well...
Hyenasaurus will remain a dream for now, but like John Alfred Hammond in Jurassic Park, I won't give up until I bring something dangerous back to life and threaten all mankind. If one sprouted maybe another will, something I will work on...
In fact, not all the seeds were able to reach daylight. A total of five showed but couldn't pop up. 13 out of 18 is still pretty good and I can rotate a bucket to balance the space. But still this leaves me with two open buckets so I pulled out one of my all-time best archive buds from the prodigious Hyena bud cellar and cracked it open, some original Blue Hyena, and rolled a fatty to think about it. As I pulled the first delicious hit a couple big fat seeds fell out of the bud. I figured there's a sign, right? Threw them into water for 24 hours and now they are in the two open buckets, maybe they will both jump into the game and round out Project 27 with some of that Haze by Blue Dream Hyena goodness. One week won't make a huge difference in the end.
Other that that all the seedlings are looking healthy and should get fat this week. Kind of slow news in the infant phase but no news is good news. Problems I don't need.
Too bad about the antique seed, but I believe smoking killed the dinosaurs...
So maybe it's for the best.

The CHALICE bud was first, I picked her up reverently and examined the unique structure and strange beauty...then started slashing.
This is THE CHALICE in all her magnificence:
Look at the density...this mostly-sativa variety is as heavy as if it was made of solid wood.
She will be a special-occasion bud for sure!
I was browsing your journal and I may be a bit late on this. I didn't see anyone mention the Chalice cola. I am pretty sure it is a type of mutation, that happens to have a thread on here somewhere. I can't tell what type it is, but it look s like a polyploid bud. Some are really really potent.

Here's a PROJECT 27 UPDATE!
The babies are growing, and everything is going okay.
One of the Blue Hyena seeds that I threw in on an emergency catch-up basis is up...now only one blank pot. I can live with as few as six out of nine, since the scrog frame allows me to pretty much run anything anywhere I want and it will all be filled no matter what.
Right now I have 14 plants, with one more Blue Hyena seed I expect to pop up.
Here's the Hyena Berrys
There might be two phenos for the Hyena Berry. These two are different so far:

White Widow:
Only one out of two sees came up but she looks healthy. I like my plants to be three inches wide before they are one inch tall and everybody is pretty much there.

The one in the front right is a Big Nugs too and looks the same. Nice. Since I'm hoping to do a two-part harvest here I needed at least five in three pots to come up and we made it. My "early" harvest is assured.
In back center are two Sour Jack. They too look like they want to play.
So that's all from the nursery. Should be a lot of fun in a month or two!
I'm going to Denver for a few days. Should be fun to visit CannaWorld, the Emerald City in the sky...

Lol I don't know why I went with the theme I went with. When I heard Merica after hyena I just went with what I think of when I hear someone say "merica" lol guns. So I changed the flag for you to fit what I envision your flag being lol sorry if it doesn't fit. I used the grenades on the bottom with hyena's hidden horticulture because your stories always make it sound like a grenade just waiting to go off. Lol so your welcome. I admire you.
